+xSouth Australia seem to be ahead against Western Australia but maybe the pitch is just getting better for batting. Head with another 50 and still going might be the key to the contest, Worral needs to keep giving him support Cartwight has taken another 2 top order players and his bowling has been key to WA being still in with perhaps a chance of winning.4/31 match figures so far and he has hardly bowled. Same is happening in Brisbane as the Gabba is settling down now. Hughes and Henriques with a strong partnership. Patterson got a snorter from Feldman. Now all Cartwright needs is some runs.

Looks like Bancroft and Whiteman have put WA in a winning positiion. I wonder if this is case of the track flattening out during the SA second innings given WA by far the best batting conditions or if SA is bowling badly.

Maddinson is doing extremely well while Pucovski seems to be struggling.

Sean Abbot has put NSW in a match winning position with 3 early wickets to have them 3-15. Renshaw is still there and needs to stand up if QLD are going to win.

+xMaddinson is doing extremely well while Pucovski seems to be struggling. Three tons in three games.. exceptional. He has always had red ball talent. Much of his problems were between the ears. Imagine what the Blues hierachy is feeling at the moment having dumped him last year. He is now in the enemy camp.

Bancroft is in some form. 267 and counting @133 from two matches. He and Harris are the form openers against the Dukes ball.

Whiteman, then Bancroft out with the score on 112. Two new batsmen, perhaps a glimmer of hope for SA, but need another wicket very quickly.

Victoria motoring alone but also losing wickets. Still 350+ on the opening day is a good position.

Moises Henriques, who does not bowl any more, has taken 3/7 to condemn Queensland to defeat. Still only 9 down but with 182 runs to get it is all over.
WA is also dominating SA and will win fairly soon.

WA win, Phillippe's innings in both innings key, but somehow Kelly gets man of the match. Total joke.

Hard to read off so few performances grazor hows things. Yes this time there is only the four rounds + final using the Dukes ball instead of the usual five + final. But there are clear signs of who are performing best with the same ball to be used in the upcoming Ashes. At the end of the Shield I will post a list of them.

The Bulls and Redbacks blown away in three days. Some very good showings by several contenders..Head played a lone hand for the winless Redbacks while Bancroft was among the runs again. Also excellent contributions by a couple of promising players in Josh Philippe, Matthew Kelly and Nick Winter.
Abbott was the star in the Blues win over the Bulls. For a change Trent Copeland took a back seat. Others to stand out were Henriques with bat and ball, Dan Hughes continues to press his claims for an Ashes berth, Luke Feldman wound back the years.

And as soon as I post that he gets an edge and is caught behind off Tremain. Victoria is just winning.

Pucovski with a century, good to see as he had not scored many runs since the resumption of the Shield season. Still he is very much an all or nothing player, needs to be more consistent to be ready to play test cricket. Victoria should win this match comfortably.

+xAnd as soon as I post that he gets an edge and is caught behind off Tremain. Victoria is just winning. Late in the third day, Vic still well on top. Meredith has a total of 5 wickets for Tas from the first innings and the second incomplete innings in the match. Meredith dismissed Pucovski for very few in the first dig, but last time I saw the score Pucovski was 88 NO in the second innings.

Pucovski end up 131 not out as Victoria declared at 3/307 giving Tasmania an impossible 475 to chase.

Pucovski with a welcome century. Was beginning to wonder if his mental issues were becoming too big a barrier for him.

Silk and Doolan need to get thru to stumps. They are facing massive scoreboard pressure but this is a good batting deck.

Still he is very much an all or nothing player, needs to be more consistent to be ready to play test cricket. Victoria should win this match comfortably. if you want a good laugh, Test Fan, go to page 33 onwards of the Multi Speculation thread in Extra Time, where some cerebrally challenged cretinous amateur detectives, claim you are a multi who is really me! Those Einsteins claim that all of Baggy Green, Jenson, Brew and you are really manifestations of me! The premise for this is that we've agreed with each other! The capricious argument they proffer is that no sane person can agree with anything I post - and - we are all reasonably literate, can post lengthy posts and have the ability to construct logical arguments! Many of the youngsters who post on Football and Extra Time only enter posts with a few words or a sentence. Next they will be advancing that Paddles, Mikey, Jaszy Jim and Grazorblade must be posting as me in disguise! Read Multi Speculation thread in Extra Time from page 33 - onwards! I wondered where Gruen had gone? LOL! Back to the topic. Even though I want Tasmania to win, the form of Pucovski with his big century bodes well for the Test team. He has has had to face as fast a bowler in FC and Test cricket as he will ever face in Riley Meredith. He will have copped some venomous Meredith short stuff at 150 kph too, which is Pucovski's perceived weakness.
