+x+xFor comparison, the knights v greens match got 4.3k views on youtube in less than 24hrs. Yeah, sounds like bullshit, I just watched all the NSW NPL games and the best viewer numbers I got was about 200. It may be difficult for nuvo new dawners like you to understand that HAL is not the centre of the football universe, so actual figure from youtube below. Or how about this one, more views for 1 match than all Citeh content in a month

We rarely see the FTA ratings these days, but on the rare chance that we do, they are pretty low.

"However, when you look at our one free-to-air game [on Network Ten], that's up by 18 per cent year-on-year for hours viewed," he said. "In terms of people watching, that's 75,000 per game."

So by that, that implies a 1 second look counts as a view.

+xSo by that, that implies a 1 second look counts as a view. No it implies 75k people are watching. Reach or total views or whatever it is would be more.

Nice try, but you should include the entire quote as the 75K also includes the Fox number (36K) so that means 39K watched it on Ten, well short of the 75K. Actual quote below, but keep trying. The situation for the A-League has been particularly dire on television. Of the five games played in round 17, the highest viewing figure on Fox Sports was just 36,000 for the clash between Adelaide United and Brisbane Roar — a game where the Reds fought back from three goals down to win 4-3 in stoppage time. Greg O'Rourke, head of the A-League said the competition was "not satisfied with the numbers". "However, when you look at our one free-to-air game [on Network Ten], that's up by 18 per cent year-on-year for hours viewed," he said. "In terms of people watching, that's 75,000 per game." Mr Allen said the football competition's viewing numbers were "appalling".

Victory CEO “shocked” and “concerned” by A-League TV audiencesMelbourne Victory CEO Trent Jacobs admits he was “shocked” by the poor TV ratings from their Australia Day clash against Sydney FC, 1116 SEN reported last week. The Big Blue encounter on Saturday night attracted just 31,000 Fox Sports viewers and Jacobs believes the poor numbers can be put down to a couple of reasons. “I was a bit shocked if I’m honest and it hasn’t been consistent with our games throughout the year,” Jacobs told SEN’s Gerard Whateley. “A lot of the sporting broadcast and attendance numbers are down, so we’re very pleased that we’re holding strong.” Jacobs says FFA and A-League chiefs are working together to try and arrest the league-wide ratings slide. “Year-on-year they’re down now,” he added. “It is an issue and as I mentioned it’s an issue for a number of codes. It’s certainly something that is being discussed in CEO meetings and no doubt trying to be addressed in a number of different ways.”
FFA: 'Getting our share of eyeballs is a challenge' By a Staff Writer Nov 27 2018 1:41PM Football Federation Australia CEO David Gallop admits football is struggling to compete with other sports as TV ratings for the A-League plunge. At the end of round four of the A-League the television metrics on Fox Sports were down by a reported 32.35 percent compared to the same period last season. Telstra have begun streaming the A-League on iPhone-only sized screens which may have made a minor impact but viewing figures on FTA partner Ten are also significantly down on what SBS achieved, despite access to high profile Saturday night matches. It's thrown the size of the next TV deal into doubt, with many now feeling Fox Sports may have overpaid the FFA when they signed off a six-year $60m/year broadcast rights contract.

Isnt it the case that most Youtube views are from people seeking out the game, ie people already invested? If sending a youtube link to someone `recruits` them, why doesn't coming across a match on FTA `recruit` them. Youtube is a great way to get games to your supporters who aren`t at the match, but I doubt very much that there are a lot of randoms watching. How many people already at the game are also checking out the youtube stream for different angles and some commentary?

FMD Well, I wouldn't, but I am not in the age bracket of concern. For those constantly watching something or interacting on their phone/tablet, I doubt it would seem odd to check out the game you are at. Like in years past, listening to a radio broadcast of a match while you are at the match.

And I have been to NPL, A-League, ACL and grassroots game. There is a difference bettween listening on radio and watching on your phone.

+xThe NRL pulled 334k last night on fox, fair to say the infamous digital disruption the aleague have allegedly been facing isn’t an industry wide trend... I have to respectfully disagree with you there, if it wasnt for Kayo and Telstra streaming, the Fox audience would have been closer to 37 gazillion so yes, NRL is also being affected.

I saw a Kayo ad on a bus stop the other day:
“AFL, NRL, EPL, F1, Cricket, NBA”
No mention of HAL.
