Yep that one.

It had a few good players in that team that are even in the current Socceroos side or on the fringes at least.

Also the likes of Petratos, Ibini, Sainsbury, Davidson, Grant and Ben Kantarovski who was the captain and at that time was mentioned as the highest rated player by former dutch coach in Jan Versleijen.

That was a pretty good batch for the Socceroos production.

Anyway we are still waiting for the new gen to come through with that extra quality but i have my doubts on that.

It's a bit harsh but its been awhile since we have seen some of the players in the youth teams make the grade up.

The 2011 side that competed in the u20 world cup was the best batch to play for the Roos.

Barca4Life - 19 Mar 2019 3:08 PM
socceroo_06 - 19 Mar 2019 2:28 PM

I mean to say for the current group of players and not all time, sorry for the misunderstanding!

I mean to say the 2010 team that made the AFC u20 final and played in the world cup in the following year has a fair few boys that have been involved for the Socceroos in the last few years, that has been a good group which hasn't been replicated since.

Of course they no where the near the same quality as the mid-1990s gen that formed the '06 squad.

The thing is we don't really know for sure. This tournament will provide a clearer picture of where we are at. But to say only 1-2 are future socceroos based on 2 warm up games is ridiculous. The context of these games need to be considered; the team has had little time to build chemistry and bed down Arnie's game plan, and they played in less than ideal humidity. By all reports they dominated the second game, a vast improvement on the first, so with some more time hopefully they will be ready for Cambodia.
This time next year, who know's, the likes of Piscopo, Arzani, Champness, McGree etc. may have surpassed the team of 2010.

Just looking at the squad I feel these are some really exciting prospects. The vast majority or named on that top 50 thread. I enjoy that most are getting stellar A League minutes.

The question now is whether they'll gel as a team and playing group at U23 level and then form a young band for national team promotion.

McGree, Atkinson, Pasquali are especially exciting. It's a shame Folami is injured.

Just looking deeper at the squad, Gersbach, Deng and O'Neill have certainly been exposed to quite a bit of high level stuff.

A few from the U20 have come up. Folami, Najjarine and Delianov will hopefully come through soon. Delianov should be at the Mariners.

They dominated the first game as well, but could not score and gave away a couple of goals against the play. They then dominated the second but could not score as many goals as they should have done and faded at the end to concede a very late goal.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Kickoff is midnight Eastern yeah?

SURELY there will at least be a dodgy stream somewhere.

Remember it’s not against the rules to post stream links if a match isn’t being broadcast in Australia. Let’s help each other out.

Nathaniel Atkinson posted to his Insta stories that Fox Sports are streaming the match but I haven’t seen that anywhere else so he could be mistaken.

Really? You think the FFA can afford to have a social media person stay up all night to provide info for a handful of die hards about a junior national team? You'll get a score update in the morning and thats about it from official channels
