It would be interesting to know what price Leroy George is asking for. With all the departures at MV this off season, it's surprising they have not been able to find a deal. MV have plenty of room within the cap as well as at least 1 marquee spot (possibly even 2 depending on the agreement with Troisi). With his performance last season no-one would have complained if MV offered George a marquee spot.
If we don't make a few key signings shortly, Glory are going to destroy us at that FFA cup match. It's less than a month away and we have very diminished attacking options and less than ideal central defence.

Hey guys don't stress we've still got Jai Ingham!
If anyone with a footballing brain in the FFA was looking at what has happened to victory and Sydney in the post 2 weeks they'd be shutting the bed. Something has to change now, the cap doesn't work when it's so small and there are other leagues to go to!

Williams gone.
Melbourne Victory can confirm that defender Rhys Williams has left the club to pursue an offer overseas.
Williams, who was contracted for another year and features prominently in the club's 2018/19 membership campign, made 32 appearances in all competitions during his one season at AAMI Park.
"We are obviously extremely disappointed to lose a player of Rhys' quality," said Head Coach Kevin Muscat.
"We'd planned for Rhys to be here for at least another season, but in the end we honoured the agreement we made when he first joined the club, so we thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best.
"While it's frustrating when things like this happen, we will continue adding quality players to the squad ahead of the new season."
Melbourne Victory would like to thank Rhys for his contribution to the club throughout the Championship-winning 2017/18 season.

'The club wanted to extend for the same amount, after all I've achieved' Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 4:14 PM After an impressive season in Australia at Melbourne Victory, Leroy George decided to leave the club. The former striker of, among others, FC Utrecht and NEC is now negotiating with various clubs from Australia.George (31) tells that in a big interview with VICE Sports . The attacker states that there are 'certain people' who have not fulfilled their agreements with his agent. "We agreed that if I would perform well that would also be seen in the next contract," says George. "The club also wanted to extend, but then just for the same amount."The winger did not feel like that. "And that after all I've done there last year, with all due respect, but it did not turn out to be me, I'm old and wise enough now that I know this is part of football, it's still business."He says that he is negotiating with three Australian clubs. He can also go to other countries. "I've been pretty much in the spotlight, not just in Australia, but also in Asia and the Middle East, I've seen different countries in Asia, China is not really a country I want to play, I thought it was a filthy mess. in Korea, I do not see Korea either, Japan seems really nice to me, and from Turkey they start calling again. "George is known in the Netherlands for his periods at Utrecht and NEC. He played four years for the club from the Domstad. For the Nijmegen people three years. Then he transferred to Qarabag from Azerbaijan. He also played for the Turkish clubs Göztepe and Adana Demirspor and recently at Melbourne Victory. George played 29 games for the Australian club, in which he made nine goals. He also delivered various assists. https://www.voetbalprimeur.nl/nieuws/827394/transfervrije-george-31-ik-heb-me-aardig-in-de-kijker-gespeeld-.html

+xWhat's the go with Danny Holla? There's some dutch articles online that appear to suggest he's signed. He's in the squad on the MV wiki. So I guess he's signed. Also, is there anybody on here who has ties to MV's football department? My friend's brother is a CB playing regularly in the Turkish second div. Chatting to his sister I know he's unhappy with the way he's being treated over there and is probably open to a move abroad, and he fits the profile (mid 20s, good youth career, plenty of game-time in decent leagues). I don't want to put his name in public though.

No way is Maclaren coming back to the A-league. But Torres would be fantastic.

+x+xOztransfer market suggesting Torres is linked with us and Sydney.Would make sense considering Sydney just cashed in on $2m transfer fees Even more for us with Milligan, Besart and William's fees, I would guess, and we both need a striker now. Question is would Torres be the best choice of investment with that windfall? I'm not normally one to be keen on big names at Victory we seem to do better without them... But I think Torres would be fantastic. Name is far less important to me as a Victory fan than what he can do and whether that suits our needs, and we definitely need a goalscoring number 9 now, so if we can afford him and he comes with the right attitude then go for it. I would perhaps rather bring back Maclaren, he grew up supporting Victory, but he'll surely want to continue trying his hand in Europe.

Backline of Roux-Deng-Ansell-Brown is pretty decent if unspectacular.
