+x+x+x+xIf we could sign Billy Brittian to a 3 year contract by June 30, I would not hesitate. A quality 9 could turn our season around. Your funny houndog might as well sign billy nigiuini no thanks no more fring players look @ how our season is going Have you seen him play Tony? Rated by everyone as the best hooker in reserve grade, will not get a regular first grade gig at Souths because Cook is better. At most other clubs he would be playing NRL, similar to Cam Smith, exactly what we need. The Souths pack (in particular Tom Armone) might be making him look slightly better than he is... In the NSW residents v QLD residents, Lloyd Perrett and the other starting prop basically lost it for NSW, Billy at least played 80 mins and while he wasn't the dominant player he normally is (usually best player on the park), mostly did his job. Do you think the current players are up to the task? Or there is another player of similar quality who we could get? We will not get him because Bennett will not let him go. He knows injury to Cook, and they can still win a comp with Brittian, Souths have the pack to play a style which suits him. The player to get is Brandon Smith (proven first grade hooker), Kurt Baptiste, or the hooker from warriors. These guys have filled the role in first grade and have proven they can handle it and do well. The guy I'm suggesting is on TV tonight.... first time in the NRL hope he goes well. Type of player, Cameron Smith with a bit less skill, and a lot more aggro. More vision, smarts, and kicking ability than Brandon Smith or Baptise.

Brown did a couple of good things last week at 5/8th. He is nowhere near a 1st grade hooker he will be gone for sure. Lot more money to spend for next year. I would say they will try and get 2 good 1st graders and a couple reserve graders and re-sign about 2 off contract. Best news at the Forum ... more money than previously thought.

Brittian might not be the best option, just clearly better than what we have, I want to see what he can do in the NRL. He is close to his peak, and old enough, that he should handle the step up seamlessly, if he struggles that is a bad sign. My thinking was he would buy valuable time to bring a young guy through, I not that impressed with any hooker with NRL experience who can't hold down a regular starting gig, or who keeps changing clubs.... that is also an indicator of a guy who doesn't have it... Would rather have a young guy that ticks all the boxes,,,, JMK isn't good enough to hold the fort .. we should punt Lichaa and Brown... No one else immediately goes to mind, but I don't watch all games.... I am sure the club has other options I don't know about.

Nancy, that sounds pleasing. To be fair, getting 2 first graders + 2 reserve graders + re-signing a couple of players per year seems to be about right for a club that is trying to improve on previous year. As a rebuild club, we are probably needing more but as we have SC restraints for another year, it is rather OK. Not sure if the allowances for the 2 x first graders are in the 200k-300k ballpark or the 400k-500k ballpark. I would hope it is the latter so we can get some established and quality players to fill in holes in the current team. 400-500k would snare a Brandon Smith type player (although i think he re-signed)

We know Foran is (shouldn't on value return) but we can afford to carry him. Napa might be on it and being SOO rep player, probably deserves it. The rest just are too far from rep duties to justify that kind of salary. Like I said in a previous post, if they or their managers think otherwise, they should be free to "test" the market. Just don't test us.

Brittian an ok game, defended fairly well, some ok passes and good options, a few bad passes. Didn't run much, the pace of the game and the step up to NRL might be a factor. Parra won the ruck and were up very quickly... Souths defensive line passive, and combinations on the edge clunky. All the young Souths guys went ok, can see why they wanted Jimmy the jet they have 2 forwards playing in the centres. This particular Souths line up was lacking pace. Anyway as Nancy said he probably isn't on our radar, but I still think he is better than JMK, way better in defence.

So Will Chambers won’t sing the National Anthem at SOO he announced today....
Someone needs to sort this guy out the exact same way Chambers ended Pat O’Hanlon’s career!

Marki & I will be holding a BDP Member Forum at Dman’s local Gymea RSL next Friday at 11am. I’ll be covering all things recruitment, Marki discussing TPA’s & Salary Cap. HD will provide an update on the mystery abduction of Billy Brittan from Redfern & later found at Belmore. Slinky will cover our Stadia agreement from 2020. Nancy goes in-depth about clubman Freddy Ciraldo.... fascinating story this one.

I still think Martin might go by June 30th. Pay has never liked him. A couple of players didn't clap Pay after he spoke last night not that he deserved a clap after his usual blah blah blah ... we are young and we are improving every week bs. One player that sat next to Pay didn't share a word or look the whole forum. Body language was very telling.

Dean’s not the best at public speaking, even in the sheds, the little snippets here & there, he just repeats himself. Can definitely see Rhyse leaving before June 30, the Dragons need a backrower & a goalkicker with Widdop injured. Knowing our management team.... we’ll get screwed over any deal that will be made for his transfer.

During the off season, I was concerned external forces (uncle Wally) might try to get into LL's head and try to lure him away. We then re-signed him for 2 years I think. It will be a travesty if our own coach was the reason he might leave. Same as RM. If he is shown the door also, my support for the club goes with it. I'm pissed off we are even linked with a forward like Joe Stimson. How many Tolmans can we possibly try to fit in this team?

A couple of players didn't clap Pay after he spoke last night not that he deserved a clap after his usual blah blah blah ... we are young and we are improving every week bs. One player that sat next to Pay didn't share a word or look the whole forum. Body language was very telling. BTW..... Nancy, who was that player sitting next to Pay? LL Ohh no! This kid surely has a future in the top grade, could not believe Pay told him to work on his defence! His attack is average.... but defensively & kicking, he’s 100% than Cogger & Foran! Also Lewis has made it clear many times he barely speaks to Wally so I doubt he has any influence on his career

Anyone able to add to rumour of us signing Britt from bunnies? More forward signings and still nothing to fix our most needed shortcomings. Although with the forwards getting dominated lately....anyone think Stimson and Britt are upgrades?

Britt is ordinary, we have better in reserve grade but his name is Britt and that helps greatly.

I'm pissed off we are even linked with a forward like Joe Stimson. How many Tolmans can we possibly try to fit in this team? Don’t get the love for Martin. He’s only played a couple of good games. Stimpson is no Tolman. He’s a hard running edge runner not a toilet in the middle. I'm 50/50 on Martin, Stimpson for Martin seems like a reasonable deal to me.. Essentially swapping an edge/middle forward for another edge/middle forward. Martin is a good goal kicker and has some handy attacking skills, his defence and fitness are questionable... Not saying Bellyache can't improve those areas. Stimpson is probably fitter, a better defender, and plays a bit tougher, although he is less skilful, and can't kick goals. It all depends on the mix the coach wants, sometimes a a coach and player are on a different wavelength,

Although with the forwards getting dominated lately....anyone think Stimson and Britt are upgrades? It all depends on who they are replacing, if Britt is replacing Taulau that is an upgrade. A guy will Britt would fit the description of a reserve grader being recruited, so not big money IMO. While we need to add some class to our side, we also need to add some depth be weeding out the worst players in our top 30. IMO the coach should be happy that everyone in the top 30 can play NRL when needed. So far most of the signings, (even guys like Sue who I though was a bad signing) have turned out good. I can't think of anyone the current regime has signed who is a dud, Napa was a downgrade from Klem, but we had limited choices.
