I don't believing in mocking Dean but I do believing he is failing to deliver the best from the players he has at his disposal as well as failing to deliver the best 17 each week. We are still producing too many "rookie" mistakes during matches and yet we are almost half way through the season and our "rookies" are seasoned enough to be making improvement. Many are not and should be sent back to Reggies to develope a little further.

After watching last nights game Canberra were a rabble and it showed but fortunately for them there was only one team in this competition that would fail to stop them from a fourth straight defeat and they were scheduled to play them... talk about luck.

When we got organised in attack and played well, we had no trouble posting 2 good tries.

There was a element of luck in both Canberra tries, but if we played well we shoudl have scored at least 4.

There was also a large part of the first half where we were dominant, but scored nothing, Crichton, Montoya, and R Smith we running hard and laying a good platform for our sets, we fumbled and bumbled and wasted the opportunity. All we had was Foran  trying to play around Canberra.

I purposely attended from 5.30pm yesteday as I was more interested in reserve grade.

I was dissapointed with what the reserves dished out right after halftime but they steadied the ship and did enough when it counted.

My disappointment was only relative though, as first grade reinforced my belief that the reserves play a better style of footy.

I would dearly love to see reserves play the first grade team just to prove my point. Many of them have played first grade so they are not oblivious to the speed of NRL. Wont happen, but I think you all get my drift...

As ODF says.... a complete wipe out of Des coached players is needed which will leave the team smas follows:

1. Meaney
2. Crichton/ OK
3.
4.
5. Smith
6. Lewis
7. Cogger
8. Napa
9.
10.
11. CHN
12. Martin
13.

14. JMK
15/16/17.

Fill in the gaps with new recruits.

Typical ..you have omitted Foran...your agenda is flawed. I think the main thing is to get some oomph at the start. Ogden and Renouf as props,...Tolman to the bench. CHN and RFM with Jackson....even though RFM did a great impression of Phil Tufnell on a bad day...Small credits but Sue and Crichton both okay

Brown is like Holland HD

Yes his defence is sh1t, but at least he can sniff out tries & looks to support for the offloads

Something JMK & Lichaa can’t do unfortunately.

Again, why are we signing up more backrowers for 2020, when we need a quality No.9 ASAP ??

I'm desperate enough to try Brown, but IMO Lewis isn't a halfback, Cogger is the only real halfback at the club , both Lewis and Cogger are better players than Brown.
So I don't think Brown should be playing NRL with Lewis or Cogger in reserves.

Holland defended well enough with Smith on the right last season, Holland can make things happen in attack and in his good games gets more right than wrong.

100% ODF

I also agree with HD, Holland’s defence is horrendous, but at least he has some attacking skills hence why I would pick him over bloody Hoppa the plodda

Tolman just kills me.... just when I think they have finally instructed him to get the fekk away from the ball in attack.... he’s taking a settler on the 4th & 5th.

The Raiders fullback CNK, he’s never played fullback, yet is in everything for the man..... pushing up looking for the offload, not flopping the second a tackler touches him etc.... my question is why can’t Meaney do the same?

Meaney is a fullback.... a star in the Jr’s etc, why isn’t he being coached to not just catch or defuse the bombs for tackle 1, but go looking for the ball off the forwards, run off Foran etc?

Yes we don’t have the cattle, yes we have players playing first grade that don’t belong in first grade.... but surely our coaching team are not addressing or upskilling what we’ve got to make them better players!

Asking Lachlan Lewis to go back to reggies to work on his defence is laughable....

Some years ago a kiwi mate of mine wrote CNK's name on a coaster in Maroochydore RSLand said watch this kid. Couldn't even find him in the U20's so I just forgot about him.  Turned out to be good info though

Tony, I am convinced beyond compare that our SC woes are a direct result of Hasler convincing Dib to max out the Credit card to the point that we will be in debt for a few years yet. It wasn't that Des was a sh!t coach....far from it, but he tried to do a Manly and buy a premiership and it failed miserably, bringing down a club board in its' wake. I know we can't afford any established first graders but it seems we couldn't afford a recognised FG coach either so I guess the mathematics are correct.... Rookie coach + rookie players = rookie results. So be it Pay needs to start experimenting for next year because his tenure at this club is riding on it.

ODF - 2 Jun 2019 9:18 AM

ODF the commentators were tearing their hair out of Fox at one stage we had a quick play the ball, not a marker in sight,  JMK picks the ball up and throws a long looping pass.
He is fast when he runs, he has the raw attributes.
Lichaa on the other hand only ever plays short.... he struggles to do the long passes... and also rarely runs,

Getting fast play the balls is a matter of running hard with support and the dummy half hitting the right runner.

We don't get them often but we waste the ones we do get...

Brown is too erratic error, prone and is a bad defender IMO, all 3 of these guys have no natural instinct for the game, make poor decisions or the same decision every time.
All I'll say for Brown is he may offer more variety.... but think about what he did recently at 14, i.e bugger all.

I was just looking at Farcebook and the fans in there are also blowing up. It appears that every person no matter from where ever they are to whatever degree they support the team can all see the same thing. Dean Pay and the board are the only ones who can't. It's either a cover up or a conspiracy because it appears just too deliberate to be otherwise.

The English backs seem to struggle out here nowadays but the forwards flourish. Surely there is a hooker over there that would be better than what we have.

The body language at the forum, then the body language in the dressing room are a very bad sign. Players will forgive inept coaching for only so long.  I am sure paying Pay out wouldn't cost much. The club has to admit they made a mistake re-signing him and move on.

To quote Dean Pay.... Surely with ‘what we’ve got is what we’ve got’, this has to be the best.... I really mean the best 1st grade line up that has any chance of fekking WINNING games is this:-

Meaney
Crichton
Montoya
Holland
Smith

Lewis
Foran

Napa
Nu Brown (he’d support Renouf offloads)
Renouf T
CHN
Martin
Jackson

Ogden
Cogger
RFM
Fualalo

It’s a horrendous team with many not in form, but it’s best team to have any chance to win some games.

Elliott, Tolman, Hoppa, Chris Smith, Sue, Holland, Montoya, JMK, Lichaa, Nu Brown, Fualalo all need to be shown the door at seasons end or offered elsewhere.....

Like your team. Holland out injured now so who is next best option.

Corey Thompson is a good player, but we have some good wing/fullback options...

Agreed. Its not a focus point.
Our focus must be good (established) hooker and strike centre and an attitude change on how we defend.

Its easy to sit back and wait for attackers to come to your line. Its bloody hard to do it when you have to run forward and back all the time.
We think our players are good defenders but any person can defend when opposition is allowed to just stroll towards you.

Absolutely right Villi.
Its how Pay ended up with Foran. Wasn't his choice. Signed to 4 years and then Des is sacked.
Now the highest paid player (unless Tolman and Jacko eclipse him) and just about forced to play him given the circumstances.

Whoever we sign, I hope its for no more than 2 years unless they are elite. That way, you can just wait out the 1 or 2 years under a new coach and be done with it.
