+x+xI think Malaysia he's good enough for tbf, as he counts as a local player. But if he counts towards an import quota... no way! thanks for your insights btw!! All good mate. Live and travel in the SE-Asia region, so I see all these guys quite frequently [TV and in person].

+x+x+x+x+x+xWas it Jesse Curran Ferns who was talked on an article on here a while back, remember him playing in Thailand or Malaysia if I recall. Anyhow just seem the line line up for Port Melbourne v south Melbourne, Port Melbourne have a player named Curran Ferns, unsure as to whether it is the same person. It is. Big drop from Thai 1 to NPL 1? yeah, I think he played NPL in Queensland before he left to play in Asia. Only thing he's got going is that he's a pretty massive bloke so he would've been good for those Asian leagues. Curran struggled in Thailand, his team [Sukhothai] went on a long stretch of poor form not long after he signed. He got his pants pulled down [figure of speech] in the game against Port FC, the Thai league was a giant step up from where he was playing in Malaysia. If he didn't have a Malaysian passport, there's no way he'd have ever have played professionally in Malaysia or Thailand, he's very average imo. well there you go... he wasn't good for those asian leagues. Not sure how many games you watched in Thailand but Curran Ferns was a standout in the Thai league.. He was recruited from Malaysia as Sukhothai's ASEAN (5th visa) quota player to help them avoid relegation last season. Under the rules last year, only 4 of the 5 visa players could start a game and be on the field the same time, He started about half the games, and came off the bench roughly the other half depending who they played and tactics. As a defensive player, the team would often need to use its attacking foreigners as a priority in games. Sukhothai improved and finished mid table well clear of relegation The club re-signed him for 2019 season with fellow Aussie Ian Ramsey, but he has run into difficulty with Thai FA introducing another rule now requiring all ASEAN foreigners to have gained 3 international caps before they can play. I am aware because I play in Malaysia, know most of the expat players, and watch the Thai League games. He has returned to Australia to resume playing in a physical league, and prepare for 2019-2020 season,.

Haha, if you say so. I know what I saw, and I'd hardly have called him a stand out...
Like I said: I think he's fine for Malaysia, and as a local player he's probably worth having in a squad. But as an import in T1, which is definitely a stronger league than the MSL: he's not worth having in the squad in my opinion. Opinions differ of course, otherwise things would be boring.

Yes the game is about opinions, but one thing I can tell you you don’t get to play as a professional footballer, and earn a well paid contract, here in Malaysia, Thailand, or anywhere unless you play decent, and your suited to the playing style they want, Only the decent foreign strikers are guaranteed a place, the local players are preferred to us expats, unless we play at the top of your game.

I have taken a bit of interest in Malaysian football after I managed Perak in FM. Does anyone know where I can watch MSL games?

Don't need to watch the YouTube video, saw plenty of Curran during his time in Thailand. Thought the Korean player was a much better player, and stand by it. It's clear to see that we're not going to agree on the topic, I've said my piece and I'm moving on from it.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xWas it Jesse Curran Ferns who was talked on an article on here a while back, remember him playing in Thailand or Malaysia if I recall. Oh wow! Fair enough! so you expect him to go back to Thailand/Malaysia? Lots of different perceptions on here. It's good to see. I’m not even sure where I’ll end up next season, never mind Curran. We are all on 1 season deals here. If you are Taylor Regan, pls come back to Adelaide. I could claim to be Taylor or Curran, but you have to guess again, there is not that many of us expats here this season so should not be that hard. David Rowley? Matthew Davies? Brendan Gan? Impressive, great to see we have fans following the players over here. Nice to see a professional player taking the time and making the effort to engage with the fans. What’s your opinion of the standard of play over there compared to Australia? It’s different. Australia bigger bodied across the park, more physical, good tactics and structure. Asia teams are more open, players more individual and take take more risks, but they don’t necessarily come off all the time. There are more South American and African foreigners here in all the teams, this adds to the individual style of play,, and these players suit the Asian game more readily.

Thanks for the great info mate! If either of Cleur or Curran are coming back to Australia I hope the Mariners make an offer.

Great post mate, thanks for the info. McGrath would be a decent replacement for Gamerio, he might even be able to get on the field!

Could've been 2-0 if not for a butchered counter attack Nabbout starting
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Yokohama loses 3-2. They seem to have thrown this one away. They were up 2-1 in the 89th minute.
