Australia's Women's World Cup preparation is under question following the team's early exit in France, and Football Federation Australia (FFA) is under pressure to ensure the review of the failed campaign is conducted by an independent panel.

Many of the Matildas players appeared to lack match fitness and the squad seemed to struggle to adapt to new coach Ante Milicic's tactics in the wake of Stajcic's much-publicised dismissal.

Canberra United W-League coach Heather Garriock said his sacking proved too disruptive for the squad.

"To go through something like that, as traumatic as that, it is going to have an impact," she said.

"In terms of implementing a new philosophy and a new style, it was too difficult. I just think the players were playing with a big weight on their shoulders."

Football Coaching Australia president Phil Moss said the Matildas' chances were cruelled before they even arrived in France for the World Cup.

"I think it goes without saying that it [Stajcic's sacking] cost the team the best chance of performing to the very top of their capabilities," Moss said.

Any inquiry to the Stajcic sacking should consider these latest claims about Reid. How long had some people been stirring the pot of discontent and wanting to undermine him? Seems like it might have been from the beginning!

It will not review Stajcic's termination but will use the decision as an example to shed light on processes within national team management structures.The review will involve face-to-face interviews with FFA senior management and national team staff, as well as a review of documentation, information and correspondence.The key questions it intends to answer are:-

• Where does/should accountability sit for the conduct and performance of the national teams?
• By what processes are these accountabilities exercised, and are those processes clear, timely and effective?
• When issues are raised and/or identified, are the processes for investigating, addressing and escalating those matters clear and effective?
• What duty of care does FFA owe players and employees?
• What processes "give the board comfort that Management recommendations are driven by full and frank disclosure of information and are not based on any personal bias or unsubstantiated claims"?
• What processes are in place to ensure the confidentiality, privacy and protection of any players, employees or others in disclosing information to FFA management and/or the board?
• Are the processes, policies and procedures used by the national teams department sufficient to monitor and ensure that the environment in which the national teams operate is professional and supportive and in accordance with FFA values?

Basically a review of the Stajic termination would breach the duty of care to those employees who didn't display a duty of care towards Stajic in the first place.   :hehe::laugh:
