Ok calm down Clint Gutherson....

Both captains fekked up with utilising their reviews during the test.... we had 1 wicket to take, Eng still needed over 50 runs.... Stokes just absolutely nailed it

And..... Leave Tim Paine out of this.... you just want to move in onto his beautiful munaki he’s got

I don’t give a flying fekk what root did it didnt do...

I'm with Dman... Paine needs Smith out there advising him..

We failed to sum up conditions bowl accordingly and play smart....

Then there are the bowling changes.... and general under use of the Goat before / after the new ball..

Good captains are like good refs, you barely notice them....

Great captains have a knack of getting a wicket when they most need it via an unorthodox method.....

Collectively we failed in a few areas, and lost a close game, without our best player, overall I still think we are the better team in all conditions

The other thing I don’t like about the article, or more in particular what Vaughn said is Umpires should be making decisions on what they (think they) see and think, not the game situation or how many reviews a team have left...

I agree.  Reviews remaining or state of the game should not be a consideration.
Having said that I do not think the players should be part of the decision making process.  The players should simply appeal and the umpires adjudicate using all the tools at their disposal.
If an umpire is using technology as a prop and is unwilling or unable to make even the most obvious decisions, he should be deemed incompetent and removed from the international roster

The most ridiculous thing for mibecwith the tech is we can end up with a decision that could be both out and not out dependant on the ‘umpires call’...
If the technology is great as is supposed to be, it’s gotta be one or the other...

But isn't it the way of using technology as in the NRL, SOCCER, NFL with refs using the bunker.
At least the NRL referees agree with Vaughan and put up TRY and let the bunker decide the real outcome.

Wilson had to decide if the bat was involved or how much it hit the front pad and deviated to the back pad.

BTW there is conjecture whether the tracking took into account the deviation off the front pad. Like the commentators were saying the ball only hit the back pad.

I think the refs call in NRL is a joke too, it’s a guess  at least 50% of the time it’s a guess... and for mine it’s complex different as there’s no captains call or losing a review... NRL should just send every decision to the bunker (we know every dogs try does) but we can’t do that with cricket, we’d get 12 overs bowled in a day...

Re Jo-els decision, in spite of the fact he got it wrong I’ll back that he gave benefit of the doubt... Which is part of the fabric of the game...

Im not sure whose desire it was to get every decision 100% correct... oh wait yes I do... gamblers and betting agencies... and in spite of the tech the howlers still occur...

If the DRS (ball tracking and snicks in this instance)  can’t pick up a deviation off the front pad then we are at least equal to no tech if not further behind...

Give every team an extra review and leave it at that...

Paine just used the last review as the game was getting close to the end. he shoudl have kept one up his sleeve...

Sport isn't played on the basis that all decisions are correct, mostly the odd bad decision makes little difference to the outcome and occasionally a few bad decisions cancel each other out. There are many more reason why we lost the game most of them our doing, some of them the poms getting a bit of luck, umpiring decisions are part of the luck..

I like DRS because used correctly it gets more decisions right...

Extra review would not have helped, we’d have simply wasted that one sooner...

I think as review systems go cricket has it ‘more right’ than say the NRLol... you can’t have unlimited, and you can’t leave it to umpires discretion... in cricket you get two to question the howlers, if you waste them then that’s your problem... and we waste more than not... we review based on the situation, not the decision... which is what vaughan wanted from the ump... and that simply wrong for both captain and umpire...

Youre right in that sport isnt always right, it played and reffed by humans... and they all root up... and 99% of sports fans could deal with that...

The tech is simply driven by gambling and TV $ and nothing more... like 99% of the decision made by sports administrators...

I just agree with Vaughan that in a match deciding decision the umpire could have taken himself out of the big picture and put his finger up and let the DRS decide.
I think they would have looked at the front pad then.
Anyway it is what it is and we move to the next test.
How blessed is STOKES.
A 4 after a deflection from a throw off his bat wins the WORLD CUP and a NOT OUT wins the TEST.
Two umpiring decisions in his pocket. Luck favours the brave.
Good luck to him, a great larger than life cricketer who takes the game on.
Just like the Aussies used to do.

What if we put shoe is on the other foot???...

Stokes given out, but not actually out with England no reviews left, but Aussies have one...
Would the right decision then in the context of the game be for the ump to have said not out???...

What if both sides have no reviews left??? What’s the ump to do then???.., Or does the head ump in the stands step in and call for a review???...

What makes a dud call with 1 run to win, one wicket in hand any more important than 100!tonwin with two wickets in hand???.,,

I don’t want umpires making decisions based on the context of the game... They simply gotta call it as they see it... They are not there to manage a game...

Otherwise we end up like NRLol refs putting the whistle away when golden point is or it’s closecto full time with scores locked???.... I hate that too... and it’s wrong...

What if he gives him out co-sign the context of the game, even though he thinks he’s not out.., then replay shows he’s not out as the ump originally thought but Aussies lose review cos the ump thought it right to do in context... then the next ball hes given not out when he is but we wasted review on a contectbof the game decision???....

but bit bit bit but...

Funny thing is I don’t think many get that that was actually Vaughn’s way of rubbing salt...

I'm curious....
LBW is based on first contact of the ball.
So why on earth do you need to worry about deviation?

Because some people think that contact (which was the front pad) may have been going down leg side.
Some commentators said at the time that the ball hit his back pad therefore making at a plumb LBW.

Vaughan was only saying that because there was one review left and one run to tie and it was maybe a game deciding decision.
Give me a break it happens in nearly every try in the NRL.
Takes the pressure off the umpire in a game deciding decision.
Simple fact is there was one review available to the Poms.
If no reviews available it does not matter.
DRS is being used whether you like it or not.

But if Jo-el saw it hit front pad and thought it going down leg, then justifies his decision...

And would have shut everyone up.
