+x3-1 win over Newcastle Jets I know I’m happy, somewhere deep inside, about this result, but the win over Glory and Jets just has me more frustrated over the Mariners loss 😩

But take a championship or premiership over FFA cup. CCM is the wake up call. Can't take teams for granted and don't waste your chances.

Jets hardly threatened in the first half, cane good in the second for 15 minutes (Max again pulled off a couple of good saves). Shot count was 11-5 in Roars favour.

I haven't seen any comments by Fowler or a match report posted anywhere. "We played some really good football, very intense, and given our heavy training schedule, it was a really good conditioning workout for us," Merrick said. "Credit to Brisbane, they scored three goals to our one, but I was particularly impressed with the way our midfield played.

He's not one to to talk his team up after being outplayed unlike someone like Arnie. Roar taking their chances is only a good sign for Roar.

So our second team beat almost a full strength PG team. What team did we have against NJ's? It looks like Fowler has the whole squad including youth playing to a style and system ,where players are comfortable slotting in no matter who their team mates are.(very reminiscent of Ange). If things keep going the way they are we will have one of our best ever preseasons. That cant be bad . Like Waz,im a bit puzzled by how to interpret the CCM result . Maybe CCM was the only team to really play a stacked defence .But it's also hard to ignore how poor we were in set pieces(both defence and attack) in that game.Maybe an aberration? CCM also came off a 2-0 loss to WSW.

The preseason record is looking very good now.
Weve played 9 games including the two behind closed doors against Ipswich and Gold Coast.
The number of games is really important given the massive amount of change we’ve had, Ange had 11 after his clean out and we should beat that with games pending against WSW, SFC, WU and a trip north to regional QLD later this month.
We’ve won 8 and scored 41 goals including wins against 3 HAL opponents, something that’s been a rarity in recent preseasons.
Theres still plenty of question marks over the team, not least up front where ROD is not in form, Holloway hasn’t been seen for a month with a hammy, and DWH is just back from a knee injury.
When either one of those strikers returns what happens to Inman who’s been deputising? He’s looked one of the best players in preseason so does he return to his normal midfield role?
Worse case are I think is we’ll be way better than previous seasons. and will comfortably make finals. Best case I’ll stick to my prediction this is a comfortable 3rd place team just missing one or two ingredients to take out the title itself

I think it will be a good indication of where both teams will be this season. When/where is it being played?

+xDid anybody happen to get a peak or preferably a photo of the new jerseys at the FFA cup match? Yes. Orange. A black kit. A white or grey kit. A maroon kit. There appears to be a distinct “pattern” in the all orange kit suggesting it’s not just plane, it might be in all of the kits but it was hard to tell on the screen.

I'm pretty keen to see the actual club released images of the kits. Can you give details on the kits on whether or not they looked as though they were an umbro template of another team? Also in your opinion how does the new orange kit compare with last seasons? I personally quite liked last seasons kit, especially the design of the collar. I also thought that the maroon kit from last season looked pretty stylish.

Going by all results this preseason so far you'd have to say the omens are good.
Yes, there was that FFA cup loss but everything else points to a well disciplined team who can hold their own.
Fowler has done a great job so far. Still missing a shifty player or two up front to be title contenders though.
Looking forward to the season.

Looking forward to the season. Can’t argue with that. Fowlers approach has been refreshing as well, he does what he needs to and doesn’t seem interested in platitudes or excuses. He’s worth following onTwitter as well - not afraid to express his opinion or challenge his critics.

Interesting that when it mattered in the FFA Cup game, our set pieces were unimpressive to say the least. This has been a problem since Ange left.
I remember Arnie complaining about our conversion rate of set pieces to goals back in the day and how we were "lucky". I then found a stat that approximately a third of goals were scored off set pieces and tallied up ours and found we were only just making that level. The obvious exception has been our NT where we've had a lot more than a third scored (shows how poor the NT have been, but that's another story) over recent years.
I will be interested to see how RF addresses this, as I see a potential problem there. Some quarters have the reliance on set piece goals as almost being unAustralian, but as we have found with the NT, whilst we are down, any goal is a good goal! And if we can get a boost on the way up, go for it!

Regarding the kit - the quick preview last week looked like a design element on a lot of their social media posts, most obvious in this post, but has been in the background of a heap. Also, it's pretty obviously Umbro's logo cut up, so looking at other 19/20 Umbro kits... Orange and black version of the Hearts 19/20 kit - link here
