+xshould get at least a par score here! We've done ok through labu smith and so far paine Paine has batted well in this innings so far. Commentators are saying he really looks the part as a batter, with sound technique, but struggles for concentration.

Classy cover drive from Smith for 4!
He has had a bit of luck though in his 3rd ton of the series.
Loving watching the Poms chase leather as Aus goes past 300!
Beautiful to watch!

I think Paine looks classy in this innings. However, I've seen lot of him live in the Shield and he gets himself out most of the time when he looks comfortably in.
He must like batting with Smith in the form he is in ATM.
Archer looks like a pop gun in this innings. Why?

+xWhat can we say about Steven Smith that has not already been said ad nauseum. Here is a little stat that does not surprise me but is nevertheless special. If (when) Smith reaches 135* he will have scored 5620 runs in his last 50 tests. A figure exceeded only by Bradman (whose 50-test best was 6977). No much else can be said, Baggers. Smith has been incredible in this Ashes series.

This Smith/ Paine partnership is developing into a big one that is a real nuisance to the Poms.

That was a very good over from Broad moving the new ball in the right areas.
Smith was lucky to survive it, being squared up against too many balls.

Paine loves to hook and pull, keeping that one down to move to 37 in a 55 run partnership with Smith.

What has happened to Archer in this Test?
He doesn’t look interested.
Broad has bowled some jaffas. He should’ve had a few more wickets.

Another beautiful off drive from Paine off Overton for a well compiled 42.
Followed by an exquisite cover drive for 4 off Stokes, and a lovely straight drive for 3 off the same bowler to reach 49.

Stokes has to leave the pitch and not complete the over due to a side strain.
I should feel sorry for him, but he is a Pommy cricketer who has been too good against us.

Curran drops Paine at mid on, from a mistimed hook shot that hit the bottom of the bat.
These guys have put on a partnership of 114!

You have to love English cricket fans. Denly plays and misses four times, then pushes for a single to get to 1, and take the team total to one. The fans erupts in a cheer like they had just won the world cup! Brilliant!

+x+x+x3-173 isn't a bad return for Australia from a rain interrupted day and losing two early wickets. I didn't see Labu's dismissal for 67, but he has done very well for Australia as an injury replacement for Smith. The strike rate of Smith, Labu and Head indicates they scored at a reasonable rate. 3 extra run lol Overton bowled a cracking off cutter to get Lasagne out. Apart from putting his body behind it couldnt do much. Getting outside the line would save an lbw. Khawaja should be dumped for good. In 10 years he's not improved one bit. Learnt nothing about leaving the ball outside off. Too many chances. Time to move on. Harsh appraisal, as Usman is one of my favourite Aussie players to watch. Like many, he struggles with concentration. He has struggled to convert talent to performance overseas. Usman, like Paine, Doolan, Callum Ferguson, and Mark Waugh used to, all inexplicably get out when they look untroubled by the bowling.
