Precisely JJ.

Starc has rediscovered his in swinging yorker this morning. He actually looks dangerous again.

Starc really is the least of our worries, we need Lyon to start bowling somewhat decent.

Yes he has something like 2-200 in his last three innings. One of those was just two overs. On the other hand Paine seems reluctant to give Marnus a decent trundle.

Lisa S and Taylor think Lyon is drifting onto leg too much against RH batters, indicating something is wrong in his action. Leach is getting more revolutions on the ball too.

He looks far more likely when he pitches outside off stump. But seems incapable of maintaining the discipline to do it constantly. He also rarely bowls an arm ball. All other offies bowl it.

I’ve just got in from a birthday party and didn’t see him bowl today.

The replayed wickets looked good. Starc beat the bat a lot too.

Michael Holding just stated that Aus and India have the best pace attacks in world cricket. Unfortunately, Aus has one of its worst batting line ups!

Great to see Starc bowl Broad with the pitched up delivery tailenders don’t like, cutting back into him, beating the bat and skittling the stumps.

I can’t identify the arm ball.

I have often asked others if GOAT bowls an arm ball in his bag of tricks.

Thanks, Baggers.

That LBW appeal from Starc looked out.

It was!

Aus has no replays  left, when the replay showed it hit the leg stump with over half the ball!

That umpiring decision could be decisive.

The one that that Lyon got a batter out LBW in the last Test, and wasn’t awarded by the ump, could have resulted in Aus retaining The Ashes.

Thankfully, Cummins bowls Buttler with a 140kph thunderbolt that hits the top of off stump.

England all out for 309.

190 odd behind Aus.

That rotten umpiring decision won’t be decisive.

Didnt cost too many in the end

If this was in Australia it would be the type of match situation where Warner would come out and make a run a ball hundred. Doesnt exactly have the form for it.

Michael Holding was just saying Archer does not have the strength for Test cricket to back up and bowl long spells.

He contends bowling 20 overs at County cricket level lacks the intensity of Test cricket. He claims that bowlers have far more adrenaline going through them, hence they feel far more fatigued playing a Test Cricket.

Same issues arise.

Warner bowled Broad!

Warner averages mid thirties overseas and mid fifties at home on Aus pitches.

And again Harris LBW.

Why do we have so many of our batters who are left handed?

those wickets are pretty important as even if we get to a declaration it will be a few overs later than we would like

if we are 2-80 at tea we probably throw the bat at the ball and get a declaration an hour before close

now we probably declare at stumps or give ourselves 4 overs tops

If you didn't know Smith was the best batsman in test cricket, you'd swear this is a tailender hoicing and getting lucky with all these tennis shots to short stuff...

Smith is basically saying to England - "you're not on my level"...

Reminds me of Tin Cup when Kevin Costner plays golf with gardening tools and beats the pro...

the early brilliant spell by england probably saved them 5-10 overs but Australia still favourites on a pitch that is getting tricky

What a Test!

When I went to bed last night England, under a rampant Broad and Archer, had taken 4 wickets for very few runs.

Looking at Cricinfo Paine hammered them for a strike rate of 127 in scoring 27 odd runs NO. Smith must have scored quickly later in the innings , as did Wade for his 34.

What bothers me at the end of this series, Australia have huge batting issues, particularly abroad, that won't be resolved as we play on home pitches where the likes of Warner and Usman usually play much better on pitches that are unfamiliar to touring teams.

Many mediocre Aus  pace bowlers will take Shield wickets, who are essentially  innocuous at Test level.

Spinners will play on pitches that don't develop spinners' skill sets in the Shield.

Same old, same old.

ATM Aus has one of its greatest attacks of all time, even with Lyon out of form. Notwithstanding, apart from Smith,  it is possibly the worst batting line up we've ever had in the top 6, particularly overseas. The next series abroad will not be able to be viewed on free to air TV, so most won't view how inadequate we are on foreign shores. Hence, out of sight out of mind.

Now Afghanistan are playing Test cricket it will add a 5th opponent on Asian pitches, we are one of the worst performed teams in the world.
