+x+x+x+xI'm concerned about WU numbers. At least beat the Nix... Well IMO I wouldn't be joining any new anything be it club or whatever until its up and running, don't blame people sitting back getting on with everyday life at this stage. Once its on the go the area/pool is vast it will pass wp no worries just so nomate will post more useless posts. Hate to use WSW as an example but we had a few thousand signed before the start of the season. WSW had a home and a proper stadium. WU have no home and no stadium. Very true. 1,400 can be viewed as an excellent number under the circumstances, could have been worse. I remember when GWS entered the AFL 7 years ago, those first couple of seasons, they literally had zero fans.

+x+xbugga you fellow SFC members voting more games at Jubilee, 10 games over the season damn it grrrrrrr. Love it. Leichardt is a pain to get to and the SCG has rightly been canned. hate it....but I shall get to some. SCG or not don't forget for many getting to Moore Park is a PIA as well being you say Leichardt is.

So with that measure, 1.5k for WU seems acceptable then. I guess it will come down to match day attendance and how they perform on the pitch to drive that up.

Different period so a direct comparison of raw numbers is not possible. In the 2012/13 total member numbers were 59K compared to 83K for similar time season. There are also a few other "big" clubs with poor numbers that season as well. Member numbers are below as is link to forum Adelaide 2000 (August 10th) Brisbane 5000 (September 20th) Central Coast 3000 (September 26th) Heart 4000 (September 12th) Newcastle 9902 (September 28th) Perth 5000 (August 10th) Sydney 8000 (September 24th) Victory 16800 (September 28th) Wellington 3000 (September 28th) West Sydney 2500 (September 27th) https://forum.insidesport.com.au/FindPost1481026.aspxI am sure there are statisticians who could do more sophisticated comparative analysis, but WU's numbers are shit on a % of total basis compared to WSW (1.8% vs 4.2% - which is still better then CCM and WP this year). Also before you compare the 2012 numbers with todays, see if you can guess which teams havent grown (shouldnt be too hard).

+xWSW had 2,500 members 3 weeks out from the start of their first season. thats quite an interesting stat. i still think they'll push closer to 5,000 once the season starts, win a few games and get a bit more exposure. I also read somewhere that they are now finally offering the monthly payment option, which they didn't have to start with.

Team 11 in south east Melbourne would have had so many more members. The southeast of Melbourne is the equivalent of Western Sydney in terms of population growth, regional focus, and percentage of population who are immigrants from countries with a strong football culture.
Still can’t believe Western United were preferred.

I reckon that many of the people that are interested in supporting the club are going to wait until at least next season or maybe until the stadium is built. They will want to see what the experience is like at Kardinia first before making any commitments. There will also be no shortage of free tickets going around, so not a lot of incentive to buy memberships yet.

Your town is so afl strong whereas Sydney isn't, get our footprint started with the 3rd Club before gayfl makes more inroads. I see it as the smart longer term view.

Kardinia Park and Mars stadium aren't great options, but clearly a superior short term solution.

Western Utd not too far away from the Nix and mariners, that might be considered a reasonable result.

Victory and City currently down about 1,300, but Western Utd have 1,800, so overall, there is an increase for Victoria.

Interesting that WSW are down 1500 on same time last year. I thought with the new stadium, the members would be champing at the bit to get their seats.
Are people sitting out this year to support MacArthur next year?

Are people sitting out this year to support MacArthur next year? I reckon some people didn't get good allocations for seats, hence the drop. I'd say maybe half of those would also be waiting for Macarthur.

If you compare this year with last year 10 days out from season kick off Victoria is behind by a couple of thousand. To match last season the Victorian total will need to be 35,299 by Friday week.

With the new stadium every seat is worse than the seats allocated previously due to the western stand being almost totally corporate so it's not surprising some haven't renewed.

Not to mention the fact that WSW has been rubbish on field for the last couple of seasons. I reckon there would be a bunch of fans that will have the 'let's wait and see' attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if they get really good attendance numbers despite membership numbers being lower than the past.

Have any victory fans bought a WU part season membership? 2 tickets GA for 1 game for 30$ adult/20$ concession or 2 games 1 ticket for same price.

Completely spurious comment. Those figures are everything to do with the old FFA regime and absolutely nothing to do with the new A League structure, which isn't even completely in place yet. Oh yes of course, nothing to do with the new regime's marketing for this season so far - the most invisible the league has ever (not) seen... 😂😂 you’re still going libel. You’re the best
