I think that's the point. SFC have exhausted their allocation and are purchasing GA. It does frustrate me to an extent as you see the GA areas mixed with red and blue. 

Having said that, its a WSW home game, so we can do what we want.

How much of the drop in attendance at the derby was a result of WU taking a slice of the fans of each club?

1. the crowd was still below the capacity of the old stadium. 
2. It was still a NSW derby. CCM don' have a big fan base, but I'm sure they would have had a few attendees. 

Yeh the whole stadium and every street in Sydney. Basically from my driveway to the stadium we have cover so we can't complain about rain being an issue, especially considering the whole of western Sydney is undercover 😂😂😂

And just for the record. I'm not saying if it was an awesome day we would have had 30k. I still think the max we'd have for that game is 20k. What I'm saying is that 17k isn't a shit crowd.

Melbourne Victory have the most members and biggest crowds in the A-league and chances are they too wouldn't sell out AMMI Park against CCM or anyone other than the derby itself. 

If memory serves me correctly MVFC got around 20k to their first AAMI park game.

Nothing to write home about either.

If the wanderers have a  competitive season they'll easily pull 12-16k to most games thus season. I think that has to be considered a success given they were regularly getting 7k crowds last year.

quite seriously, there isnt a single MV fan that i know who has deserted for WU. there were a few MC fans who were toying with a swap, but these guys had already left MV for MC so not surprised. Also as an MV member, full respect to MC as they actually had a good turnout, it was MV that was a problem.

Also there were a few "casual" MV fans I know who attended the derby for the first time in a while and because it was so shit basically said thats it for live matches, would rather watch at home and spend money elsewhere, which makes me worry about tonight's crowd, could be quite low.

most city fans i have seen at a derby at etihad so hopefully they come back on sunday 

last season in Rnd 2 we got about 17K for PG and rnd 6 home game against WSW got 20K so suggesting something around 19K would be a pass, not sure where we will end up as its still early season but vibe around many MV fans is not great, weather is scheduled to be shit for the match so could be ugly tonight, 15-16K which in a 60K stadium will be terrible

I think last season was inflated by the Honda signing to be honest. Victory have a huge amount of casual fans from what I can tell who may only attend one or two games a year at most.

Victory got 17,566 to their first A-league game at AAMI.  Enough said.

And actually, we have had "technical" sellouts against CCM and Wellington at AAMI Park in the past (meaning we have got 23,000-24,000 crowds, but the full house sign has gone up, which is a byproduct of members/corporates not showing up).

I beg to differ... our first season at AAMI Park coincided with Melbourne Heart's first season in the HAL. We suffered a significant drop in members and average crowd numbers that season. our average crowd in 2009-2010 was 22,095. in 2010-2011 it was 15,058 (a drop of 38%). the 2010-11 season was our second worst avarage crowd figure overall (behind season 1 at Olympic Park).

I agree, there's this perception that WSW were pulling regular >20k crowds prior to the reconstruction, when in reality they averaging ~14k outside of derbies. 17k is a great crowd against CCM and WSW are easily going to be the second-most supported team from an attendance perspective. People have some absurdly high expectations.

It's not without it's pros, it has excellent connections to public transport, for example.

If it doesn't have 30k the atmosphere is shit, but with the seats in, roof closed and a good crowd it's heaving.

There is no doubt that AAMI Park is one of the best if not the best football venue in the country, of course.

The Etihad one left me with the impression I'll never come back, AAMI Park with the impression this game is a must away game to attend. 

Maybe they will stick with AAMI when the contract expires, don’t know how long that still runs for. At the moment, they might want to have all 30k plus games there - would all the derbies fit that criteria?
