+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xI don't understand how anyone can fail to understand that WSW crowds are of zero concern. Yes Melbourne Victory has the best fan base, however it isn't the end of the world if WSW have the second highest membership, and average attendance ffs. WSW came 2nd last, 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th in the last 4 seasons. Apart from 1 of those years that's pretty fucking shocking, and last 3 years in a row we've had shit seasons. We got 17k against CCM in the rain and you have people complaining. Agreed, absolute clowns. disagree. opening games of the season official launch of the new home wsw is back time to make a statement barely half full The game not only needs to be sold out, but there has to be zero no shows, otherwise it's a shit crowd. It better bloody sell out given the measly away allocation Wanderers have allowed us. What have you guys been allocated, and what's the difference compared to the old Parramatta Stadium? The same apparently. The Sydney forum thread on it is full of people saying they've had to buy GA. Bit disappointing as it'll take away from the atmosphere. I think from memory at Parramatta it was 1k, but I could be wrong. For the away game at Kogorah ( hopefully it remains there ) I'd be okay with us only being allocated only 1k. If Sydney FC fans don't sell out only then should it open up for us to purchase more tickets and increase the away end. I think that's the point. SFC have exhausted their allocation and are purchasing GA. It does frustrate me to an extent as you see the GA areas mixed with red and blue. Having said that, its a WSW home game, so we can do what we want.

A question for the Victory and City fans.
How much of the drop in attendance at the derby was a result of WU taking a slice of the fans of each club?

+xdisagree. opening games of the season official launch of the new home wsw is back time to make a statement barely half full agree with your disagreement. it was by far the most disappointing crowd of the round. @robstazzz is sprouting the typical Sydney bullshit excuse of rain. isn't the whole stadium undercover? +xHighest WSW non derby crowd. 2 points: 1. the crowd was still below the capacity of the old stadium. 2. It was still a NSW derby. CCM don' have a big fan base, but I'm sure they would have had a few attendees.

Basically from my driveway to the stadium we have cover so we can't complain about rain being an issue, especially considering the whole of western Sydney is undercover 😂😂😂 And just for the record. I'm not saying if it was an awesome day we would have had 30k. I still think the max we'd have for that game is 20k. What I'm saying is that 17k isn't a shit crowd. Melbourne Victory have the most members and biggest crowds in the A-league and chances are they too wouldn't sell out AMMI Park against CCM or anyone other than the derby itself.

If the wanderers have a competitive season they'll easily pull 12-16k to most games thus season. I think that has to be considered a success given they were regularly getting 7k crowds last year.

+xA question for the Victory and City fans. How much of the drop in attendance at the derby was a result of WU taking a slice of the fans of each club? quite seriously, there isnt a single MV fan that i know who has deserted for WU. there were a few MC fans who were toying with a swap, but these guys had already left MV for MC so not surprised. Also as an MV member, full respect to MC as they actually had a good turnout, it was MV that was a problem. Also there were a few "casual" MV fans I know who attended the derby for the first time in a while and because it was so shit basically said thats it for live matches, would rather watch at home and spend money elsewhere, which makes me worry about tonight's crowd, could be quite low.

+xA question for the Victory and City fans. How much of the drop in attendance at the derby was a result of WU taking a slice of the fans of each club? I think last season was inflated by the Honda signing to be honest. Victory have a huge amount of casual fans from what I can tell who may only attend one or two games a year at most.

Enough said. enough said? are you suggesting that you've got me on this? :P
I beg to differ... our first season at AAMI Park coincided with Melbourne Heart's first season in the HAL. We suffered a significant drop in members and average crowd numbers that season. our average crowd in 2009-2010 was 22,095. in 2010-2011 it was 15,058 (a drop of 38%). the 2010-11 season was our second worst avarage crowd figure overall (behind season 1 at Olympic Park).

Wow look at all those excuses, you might as well throw the weather into it too. Actually you've given me an idea here, Macarthur coming in has taken away over 3k members ect ect. Seriously you're acting pretty fucking sad in claiming 17k is a shit crowd, especially when Melbourne Victory got 20,358 for their first game. And that's coming off a few good seasons in a row. Then 13k next home game against Wellington. And your first derby 25k. What's the bet if we get 25k it'll be people like you coming out claiming that's another horrible crowd by WSW. Honestly I give up with fans who seem way too obsessed about crowd numbers. Some people on this site carry on like they have zero knowledge of what each clubs crowds have been in the past and present.

I agree, there's this perception that WSW were pulling regular >20k crowds prior to the reconstruction, when in reality they averaging ~14k outside of derbies. 17k is a great crowd against CCM and WSW are easily going to be the second-most supported team from an attendance perspective. People have some absurdly high expectations.

It's not without it's pros, it has excellent connections to public transport, for example. If it doesn't have 30k the atmosphere is shit, but with the seats in, roof closed and a good crowd it's heaving. There is no doubt that AAMI Park is one of the best if not the best football venue in the country, of course.

AAMI Park absolutely shits on Etihad and I'm talking from experience too as I've been to 2 away games against you guys. The Etihad one left me with the impression I'll never come back, AAMI Park with the impression this game is a must away game to attend.

+x19.5k last season. The new mob have "saved" the league again... Pretty sure it was the highest ever attendance for a Melbourne Victory v West Sydney game at Docklands on a Friday night in round 2 with Melbourne Victory coming off a derby draw To be fair, the WBBL started last night
