I recall being taken to the SCG by my mother (rather reluctantly I may add as I had no interest in cricket at that time) and watching the great Dennis Lillee and Thommo take down the Pommies. I was hooked. I will let you speculate what decade that was. Haha good stuff. No wonder you are so fond of the Ashes! I stand corrected on my tuxedo gentlemen of yore. One of the first matches I attended was the Pakistan Aus tri series at Bellerive that ended in a tie. Featured most of the World Cup winning Pakistan line up. I became a TCA junior member after that and particular enjoyed the Ashes tour a couple of years later where I think I already mentioned my claim to fame - Gatting made me a cup of tea lol. So you are from Tassie. When did you move to WA. Coming up 24 years. I had a friend get me on the list for SCG membership then changed my mind and moved here when I got into a particular uni course.

Very good in the world cup and not alone in struggling in a successful ashes tour. 3rd highest average of our batters Where would you put him though? Some would argue that Burns is long overdue his chance at the top, and Smith and Labuschagne are lock ins. Khawaja has had his chances and just didn’t capitalize. They are never gunna drop Warner. You can still have a top 6 of Burns Warner Khawaja Smith Labu Wade True, but then Head’s recent form is still better than Khawaja’s. Has anyone heard anything about the CXI team for the tour match starting tomorrow? I have no idea who is in it. Not exactly big news compared with the test announcement, but even so. Very little publicity on this. See if I can find anything. Another match out of Perth so expect to wait half the day to watch it. It is a three dayer. No further info. An extra long 3 day match. It says 15 - 19 November on cricket.com.au. !! ha ha. You'd think they'd have announced the CAX1 squad by this. Or will it be the current NPS scholars? If not I will have a crack at some of them. Langer’s Loft is a nice little 2 storey shaded decked area with bar stools etc. I think they probably use it as a corporate entertaining area at times. It’s square on to the wicket unfortunately, but it’s right next to the hill and the player rooms / commentary area and plenty of room for the kids to run around under the scoreboard. Well I think the young Aus XI can hold their head up high with not letting Pakistan bowl them out and scoring three 50s to boot. And I have just seen on the match summary that only 5 of the team have first class experience. Well done, lads!

He averages around @50 at home If not mistaken. The truth of the matter is he has been in a huge hole since the Ashes. He is not alone there.

A couple of them.. including Pucovski may have lost site of a rearing delivery from a good length. I recall over the years this period playing havoc in the 50 over day/niters. Will Bancroft be the last man standing?
He is..same as in that Ashes warm up match when he scored 80 odd and the rest daylite. They say he has a dodgy technique.. perhaps so..but it does not stop him digging in when needed. That is the sort we need for Test cricket..people with character... He did look good too, with some lovely drives. Perhaps a little dodgy in the final over prodding around when he was clearly anxious to reach his well deserved 50. I felt terrible for him when he got felled. The commentators mentioned something about him being renown for getting out in the 40s? JL did say that the test team wouldn’t be weighed too heavily on current form, which might mean that Bangers has left his run a little too late. Hell if we go with this dud lot masquerading as Test batsmen we are in trouble. We want people with character and a desire to protect their wickets batting for our country. If I was chairman of selectors I am rewarding those scoring big runs in the Shield the last two years.. I am specially rewarding those openers doing it.. as it is the most difficult of all positions in a batting lineup. Two batsmen scored 3 centuries last season Marcus Harris and Nic Maddinson. Harris has been tried and gone missing in action while Maddo is on mental health leave. Next in line are the twin century scorers.. Wade, Patterson, Hughes, Larkin, Pucovski, Cooper and Mitch Marsh. Of those only Hughes (742 @39) and Larkin (687 @36) are specialist openers. Bancroft only played 4 matches .. compiled almost 400 runs @56. So he has to be well in the frame too. Well, when you put it like that. I was in two minds whether to head to Optus now I have knocked off. But they might well call an early finish with a draw the likely result, what do you think? Go to the cricket whilst it is on, mate. Unfortunately Optus is a different beast to the waca, which is a short drive down to the road and you can park right out front. You can’t take your car to the stadium, and with the early finish it wasn’t worth it once factoring in travel time. Looking forward to 2 days at the NZ test though! No above ground parking at the new stadium? You heading across the ditch Bobbie? You can’t park at all at the stadium. No taxis or Ubers, either. They put on buses for the BBL and AFL etc but otherwise it’s trains or else a long walk across the bridge. No travel for me, looking forward to the day night test in Perth in December. :) More pink ball action and hopefully see Cummins and Smith in live action.

Home conditions.. home crowds.. supporting family and friends. Makes you wonder will Puck ever want to play Test cricket. Yes it’s a tough one. The word seems to be they are playing the long game with him and easing him into things. But one wonders how many opportunities he will get, in reality.

A couple of them.. including Pucovski may have lost site of a rearing delivery from a good length. I recall over the years this period playing havoc in the 50 over day/niters. Will Bancroft be the last man standing?
He is..same as in that Ashes warm up match when he scored 80 odd and the rest daylite. They say he has a dodgy technique.. perhaps so..but it does not stop him digging in when needed. That is the sort we need for Test cricket..people with character... He did look good too, with some lovely drives. Perhaps a little dodgy in the final over prodding around when he was clearly anxious to reach his well deserved 50. I felt terrible for him when he got felled. The commentators mentioned something about him being renown for getting out in the 40s? +xYaseem Shah is a good bowler for 16 years old! I dont see any bum fluff on his chin. Is he really only 16. Remember Shahid Afrida.. said the same thing. Turns out he was in fact 18/19. KW sorry to say but I agree with you.. a pathetic statement for test selection by these pretenders to a Baggy Green. Bancroft may have a tech flaw but the guy knows how to protect his wicket when that is what is needed. He did it in the Ashes warm up match and again here. What have the other duds done.. other than embarrassed themselves.
