WTF? Dont mind that formation. Christiano or Shin for Pants and I dont think it would be that bad.

Think it would actually be: 3-1-4-1-1 and if you removed Pants from the team and put on Cristiano then we would score goals as opposed to having a headless chook running about! Frankly Fyfe is not a WB, I would prefer Rudan there if we had to. Doubt Reid will start, wish Barbs could play - we may see Costa again for this match due to the injuries we have had.

Upset win coming up for the Fury. Adelaide are in all sorts of trouble on the park and off it as well.

NQF aren't exactly a steady ship themselves  Strongest Home record v Weakest away record. Looks like a mis-match  (yes I'm aware that choosing to quote NQ's away record while ignoring GCU's home record is probably stats abuse of the highest order :-$ )

Just had a quick look at the team stats - every single player who has been available for selection has been given a run on the field in the last 4 weeks. The only exceptions are Birighitti (international duty, and 2nd choice) and Sarkies (long term injury).
A telling tale perhaps?

Was not the greatest performance by either AUFC or NQF, but I did have two wonderful things happen. I saw Fowler score from open play - class act, and I saw Owusu score and pop in the corner! I am expecting great things from Owusu, he is definately what our attack has been missing. Now we really need to get our defence settled. Viddie needs to decide if we are going to have a standard back 3 or 4, settle on his first choices for the positions and then play them!

Spot on, General. We've gained what we were missing and lost what we had. Don't know what will happen with Robbie's charge (damn!) but without him we're looking even worse at the back. I hope we go back to a back four with Reid in front in DM. I still can't believe how bad Rudan was but maybe he'll improve. I'm terrified at the thougt of him and Fyfe as CBs in a back four. But, I guess they both have a lot to prove now and maybe they'll step up.
I hope Viddie decides to trust his younger players and give them an extended run. It'd going to be a tough season but we won't improve it by refusing to believe in our youth.
In a few weeks I'd like to see:
Eugene
Marrone Mullen Flakes Jamo
Reid
Dodd Alamao Cassio
Cristiano
Owusu
(Cassio/Jamo interchangable.)
Bench: Fyfe, Shin, Barbs

If he isn't going to play 2 up front when he has 5 midfielders in front of a back 3 at home against what looked to be the weakest side in the comp I dont think he ever will.

On Friday night I'm not sure NQF were the weakest team in the comp.
Viddie must be getting desperate. Maybe he'll try anything once? :) [-o<

I have one thing to say about the final line up that we had on the pitch, with 4 right backs on the park how did we manage to give them so much space? I was amazed by how few cards were given out in the game, 1 yellow? And there where bad tackles, the ball was kicked away after a free blown, a few handballs - one deserving of a straight red (he almost marked the ball!). I reckon Green was told to not give a card unless he had no choice. Hoping I get a bonus this year so I can buy an Owusu AUFC shirt, the bromance has started! (well continued actually ;))

After watching through Owusu's goals reel for Cheltenham and Yeovil:

It seems, Owusu has scored many similar header goals as he did last week...

It's the AU season-end highlights reel of Owusu I'm looking forward to. The man just manages to cheer me up every time I see him.

I think someone may have suggested it earlier, but with Owusu's DJ-ing past, he will rock it up at the AUFC Awards Night dinner thing!! DJ-Hangtime!

News from The Advertiser today. Quote:Vidmar won't panic Article from: The Advertiser
RICHARD EARLE, SOCCER WRITER August 31, 2009 12:00am
ADELAIDE United coach Aurelio Vidmar insists the Reds are not in crisis despite a game plan that is unravelling and star defender Robbie Cornthwaite facing assault charges.
Vidmar could be deprived of his lead stopper following an incident involving Cornthwaite at a city nightclub on Saturday.
Adelaide is second bottom after four games and needed maximum points against wooden spoon favourite North Queensland at Hindmarsh on Friday night.
Vidmar, however, is staying calm. "We will need to do some serious work in terms of how we will shape up for the next game against Wellington," said Vidmar, whose Reds drew 3-3 with the Fury.
"We will need to tighten up as a whole.
"That is not just the defenders, it is the whole group.
"The good thing is we are not dead. There is no reason to panic."
Vidmar must fix a system that has broken down so far this season against Sydney, Gold Coast and North Queensland.
The absence of Fabian Barbiero, Kristian Sarkies, skipper Travis Dodd and Cassio has decimated a once flexible and dominant midfield set-up.
The "fragile" Reds are struggling to adapt to changes or moves which take them out of their comfort zone in games.
Vidmar foreshadowed returning to the 4-5-1 formation he used late last season that caused critics to label United the "Wimbledon" of the A-League.
"We have had to change our formation with some of the players we have out. I thought we were ready for it but we are not," said Vidmar, who toyed with a 3-4-3 system in the 0-2 loss to Gold Coast.
"We will go back to what we know well, what they are comfortable with.
"We would love to have Travis, Cassio, Fabian, Sarkies out there but, at this point in time, we need to steady the ship. Once those boys are ready to go we will be ready to put out a strong side and formation the players are more comfortable with. Once we get all the boys back the whole dynamic changes."
The Reds lost to Sydney when Brazilian Alemao left the field unwell and caved in against the Fury when he began to tire - illustrating a mental fragility Vidmar wants his team to snap.
"It is about everyone understanding their roles a bit better," said Vidmar, who used Iain Fyfe at left-back and pushed Scott Jamieson to a left-midfield role against the Fury.
A major concern for Vidmar is the scourge of calf injuries grounding Cassio, Sarkies, Barbiero and Dodd. Changes to the Reds' weight training regimen might be made.
"We need to have a serious look at training at what we are doing in the gym," Vidmar said.
"Like any team, you need explosive work and some boys have been doing explosive work and got caught out."
Vidmar hopes key midfielder Paul Reid will face Wellington on Friday despite being treated for calf soreness in Saturday's recovery session. I, for one, am happy with Viddie. He tried to change things up a bit and failed. Now he'll go back to what we did best. Hopefully we'll still be okay without Cornthwaite...

I find it amazing that becuase he tried to get AUFC to play a more attacking brand of football his head must roll. I would still prefer we played 4-4-2 over 4-5-1, but maybe he will play that formation as a 4-4-1-1 ;)
