Not that I'm questioning your omnipotence. :d As it is I think I should have written about which jersey to wear to the game. Seems all the go this week. I guess that having red shirts means a lot of Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal fans can get away with visiting Hindmarsh wearing their 'real' club colours. Edited by Jessesdad: 15/9/2009 03:54:30 PM

I for one am glad you decided to avoid the whole kit 'issue' - unless you wanted to talk about our new front of shirt sponsor! And don't worry I am all powerful, just not all knowing! That's the problem with being a man ;) You can check with any of the female members as to wether that particular statement is true or not! Actually your married and have a duaghter (from memory) so you know exactly how wrong you can be!

Since we share the nickname "Reds" with the almighty Urawa Red Diamonds and the somewhat ubiquitous Liverpool FC, I'm all for player-exchange between the clubs... I'm sure the overseas clubs have some surplus players who they can lend to us for a guest stint... haha

Okay, so out of the 7 rounds so far, we have only scored 6 goals. It's no wonder we're doing shit at the moment if we're scoring less than a goal a game... So the question I pose for every Reds fan here is:
What the fuck do we need to do to fix this goal deficiency???

You could try a radical new formation and go with none up front. 4-6-0... why not?

The sad thing is loki, that given our scoring history it may not be a bad idea. We score way more goals out of our midfield than anywhere else... Frankly we need to see what I think should be our first XI: Owusu, Alemao, Jamo, Shin 2, Dodd, Reid, Mullen, Shin 1, Rudes, Cassio & Hugene. If that line up can't score goals then we are sunk. Or else use the loki line up: Alemao, Dodd, Shin 2, Jamo, Pants, Barbs, Reid, Mullen, Rudes, Cassio & Hugene From a MV supporter on another forum (second hand info!) they described the game as AUFC controling the game and doing nothing with the possession. The first goal was a fluke and the second from a defensive error. Is that about right?

Melbourne deserved to win the game but not due to how good they played - due to how badly we played.
I have been to every Hindmarsh home game over the last four years and I have seen Melbourne play many times. In my opinion that was one of their worst performances.
It's just that we sucked so bad we made them look good.
From where I sat Muscat was actually having fun. He had worked out Viddies predicable game plan by about five minutes in.

Oh yeah, the other question I had: Did anyone actually see any 'violence' at the game? Or was it the usual 15 yo try hard ultras having a bit of a slanging match and maybe a bit of push and shove?

After standing on the half way mark for most of the first half (a great viewing point if you ever try it) a friend of mine called me to sit up under the scoreboard. From there I could see what looked like a pretty decent scuffle between red and blue and yellow (weslo). For about 1 minute it looked like the yellow were dragging a few blue and red guys to the ground to control them. There were no flares just some push and shove from what I could see.

I was on the General grandstand on the second tier on the corner there, right next to the Melbourne supporters. Just before halftime, the cops started pulling Melbourne supporters out of their seats and then punches were thrown which caused more cops to come running. I have no idea what started the altercation, but until then, there wasn't much to the banter. Oh, and no flares had the chance to go off, because at the first sign of one being lit, the Weslo staff had confiscated it and put it out. There was still a stream of smoke coming from it though.

LOL!!! Quote:Players call for United unity
VAL MIGLIACCIO September 23, 2009 12:01am
ADELAIDE United's squad held a players-only crisis meeting after the Reds crumbled to arch-rival Melbourne Victory on Friday for the seventh successive time.
The 0-2 loss forced vice-captain Lucas Pantelis to host a get-together at his home in an effort to resurrect the Reds' season after United again failed to make an impact against its Victorian bogey team.
The hastily-organised afternoon "boys only" barbecue was a ploy to relax, unveil some cold-hard realities and redefine the season, Pantelis said.
"If we're going to get out of this (form slump) it's up to us to be a close unit," he said.
"We decided to have a barbie, just a bit of fun and a get together with the boys.
"We're trying to do it regularly but we didn't really sit down and say `all right boys let's have a chat'.
"Obviously, we spoke about football but it wasn't a sit-down session to say `let's have it all out'.
"We had a good three, four hours at my house, just the players."
The Reds equalled their worst start to a campaign when they dropped maximum points to Victory.
To compound its woes, United already has played five of its first seven matches at home, gaining just seven points out of a possible 15 at its former fortress.
The A-League draw, however, has been kind to Adelaide. The Reds face nine more home matches and 11 games on the road before the play-offs.
But finals football could be in danger if the Reds mirror their 2007/08 season – which was equalled last weekend – in failing to catch the top-four finalists after a poor start.
Pantelis said it was crucial United was back on its game ahead of its season-defining clash against North Queensland Fury in Townsville on Sunday.
"Results haven't gone our way," Pantelis said.
"The more we're dropping the more important the next match is. We know it's not going to be an easy game, especially up there (Townsville).
"We know what they're capable of and they showed us what they can do when we played them at Hindmarsh.
"It's a matter of us sticking together and working as a unit."
Fury was hit with a changing of guard on Monday when chief executive Dean Hassall resigned.
Flamboyant chairman Don Matheson is now in charge of the club's daily duties.
Matheson said the Fury was confident of earning maximum points for the first time in Townsville.
Since Fury earned its first A-League point at Hindmarsh in round four, it has gone on an unbeaten four-match run which included Sydney FC's scalp in a 1-0 victory at the Sydney Football Stadium.
"The side is very confident we can roll Adelaide here for the first home-game win," Matheson said. "We would also say that the club will be here at the end of the year and in five years' time."
Meanwhile, young Reds midfielder Joe Costa, 17, could be ruled out for the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in the Baby Reds' 3-3 draw against Melbourne Victory on Friday.
Costa will have an operation today.

I couldn't believe it either RU, the boys getting together at Pants' place? AUFC players need to stop talking the talk when they can't seem to walk the walk.

Pants: "So we all got together at my place and decided to head down to the local oval and have a kick around. Then we did some shooting practice and discovered that none of us could remember how to shoot. So we made Hugene stand between the AFL posts and we just fired in shots at him for about seven hours. By the end some of us were getting quite close. But the misses score a point don't they? They don't! Shit! I'm going to have a word to Viddie about that. No wonder we're losing games. I just thought the scoreboard wasn't working properly.
Anyway, when we'd finished, Lloyd said how nice it had been. He reckons none of us has stood that near to him in a game for weeks. Actually, he's quite a funny guy when you get close enough to hear what he's saying. A few of us have decided that next week we're going to play a bit closer to him just for a laugh. We might even have a few shots while we're up there.
You won't tell Viddie will you?"

Did anyone else read about how the FFA are looking at appointing a new board to be in charge of AUFC? Good positive sign for the club.

I hope they bring back Chris Ditmar to the board. I think he was appointed very late last season before getting the can with the rest of the board following Bianco's departure a few months later. He is one of the absolute few from the AFL who have not shat on our great game. Highly respected in this state.

Anyone else read Tim Hilferty's column in the Sunday Mail about the "crowd violence"? Well I just found out this evening that he expanded on the article and posted it on "The Punch" website. In his article he has the caption "The raw excitement of a nil-all draw spills over into the terraces.” And that gives away his agenda! He calls it the "Sport I love".. what a liar! He talks about "laughing" from the stupidity that happened at Hindmarsh stadium but tries to paint the "violence" also. Since when was violence funny? Once you've read it, jump on the TWG website. The great Jesse Fink has posted a fantastic response to Tim's rubbish. News Ltd loses again!

I've been reading a few different Reds forums, such as at footballnews.com.au and adelaidereds.com, and it seems a lot of idiots want to boycott the home games... what would that achieve? Our club is already in financial trouble as it is, so by not turning up they're just making the situation blow up in its face.
Sure we play shit football at the moment, but that just means when we win, they are all the much sweeter. I'm happy with my season ticket, and will attend every game. I am a true supporter. I'm disappointed at Viddie's choices lately, but hell, I'd rather have a manager than none whatsoever...

Dont worry too much RedsUnited - every team has its fair weather supporters. Most of us will keep going to every game no matter how painful it may become to watch.
On a more positive note, I'm interested in what you guys think would be the best line up we could put on the park if we had everyone available and fit?
Here is my suggested starting line up:
Galekovic Marrone - Cornthwaite - Rudan - Cassio Dodd - Reid - Alemao - Jamieson Owusu - Cristiano
What do you guys think?
If we could put that line up on the park this week I think we could take home the 3 points.
