I'd have the same formation as last week, but with either Cassio or Dodd to slot into where Barbiero was.

I just hope United get an owner soon and renew contracts for Cristiano, Alemao, Reid, Hugene, Flakes, Rudan and Jamo - he can have Sarkies and Fyfe - shit we could even throw in Hughes

Hmmm... Sarkies may have turned the corner redcup. The way he shut down Corica on Friday night was impressive. If he can keep this up we may just want to keep him around.
:d [/quote]
You're right Sarkies has been a lot more assertive and confident of late - just as his contract is coming to its end - he's either one devious man or just a guy that's re-discovered the form he showed with the Olyroos.
I prefer the latter, I suppose I'm harboring a grudge against him.

Welcome home abignumber! Missed your comments on the forum mate.

I've been around, but not so frequently - it's been a big semester at uni and I'm a bit of a sore loser...

Re this week's lineup, if there's one thing we know about Viddie it's that he doesn't really like to tinker with a system that has worked. I think he will go in with an unchanged lineup bar Dodd in for Barbs. This gives us a fair bit of tactical flexibility as well, Leckie can push up front from his wide right position and Dodd can drift out into the space that leaves. Similarly, when Leckie drifts wide Dodd can drive through the middle. I think it could be more dynamic than with Barbiero in the same position. I think we'll see the same asymmetrical 4-4-2/4-5-1 as we started with last week:

--------Eugene---------

-Fyfe-C'thwaite-Rudan-Jamo
....................................|
....................................V
----Hughes-----Sarkies----
----------Reid-----------

-Leckie-----Dodd---------
...|
...V
-----------Cristiano----

If anyone can make any sense of that, it's basically our standard 4-2-3-1 when we don't have the ball, but when we get it back Jamo bombs forward, Leckie basically joins in as a wide striker so it becomes more of a 3-5-2.

Edited to try and get Jamo's arrow over under his name...

Looks like what I had in mind as well. That's probably the most likely line up with Alemao, Cassio and Owusu off the bench again. If Pantelis is fit, I'm pretty sure Viddie will slot him into Alemao's bench spot just coz he's the vice-captain.

Hey, I'm going to my first Reds game since the grand final this weekend. Will there be a big crowd coming down from Adelaide??? I don't want to resort to talking to Victory scum, lol.
Massive game! I hope we go into the game full of confidence and not defend too high, its the only way Archie gets goals.

C'mon You Reds!!!

Sorry mate, getting over to Melbourne is a bit of a stretch for me with all the work I have to do around my new house - there should be Red Army members going over though, if you are on Facebook then check out their page or go to their website.

I'm not too keen on heading to the Elephant for the game tonight... where else is good? I used to frequent the Alma last season, but thats a fair bit to travel for a southern suburbs boy like myself.

I actually thought we played an ok game tonight. It's just that Melbourne are too good on the counter and catches our defenders sleeping. Having said that, our defence was actually quite decent for most the game too... Leijer showed that although it was good during free-play, no one knew what was going on during set pieces.

Another loss to Melbourne makes me consider this a tradition now...

I don't get it. Where was the edge that the reds hadwhen playing against Sydney last week? I honestly thought, that if Adelaide brought their game along from last week, then for sure that the streak would have finished. it's a mental thing I guess...

As an AU supporter I thank you for condescending comments like this, it is to be expected but doesn't go the abusive road.
Unfortunately the whole thing really pissess me off big time. I'm sick of our players saying " it's just another game.....and.....there's no pressure on us "
I didn't see the game but a few reputable fans have said that Pantelis was crap - and we've been saying that for the past 12 games, and the conclusion that Viddie is playing him every week because he's vice-capitan is getting harder & harder to bear when I see quality like Cassio on the bench!

All I can hope for is we get it right at the pointy end of the season and we don't embarrass Australia in the ACL.

krijoz, my friend, don't put words in my mouth. I've never said Lloyd was man of the match or that he's our saviour. I'm beginning to wonder if you're all there. If you want someone to argue with there are plenty of people on here who will be only too happy to accomodate you. Up until now I've been willing to respect your passion and ignore your blatant rudeness. I guess that today I'm not feeling so generous. So, from now on, if you want to discuss something then I'm around. But if you want to spout crap and insult me for no reason then you can listen to the echoes of your own vitriolic rants because I won't be responding.

I have been brought up no to give anyone credit if they do not reserve it.
You and others have to admit that Lloyd Owusu has been a failure and more and more supporters are agreeing with me on this website as well as in the grandstands during REDS games.
It is not only me expressing opinions about Lloyd THE TOOL there are many others believe me mate.
I have brought some borderline supporters to a few of REDS game and nearly most of them have been asking me questions such as: why this guy is out there (Lloyd Owusu) he is not good enough or that guy (Pantelis) he does not belong to A-league

Last time I checked, "A TOLL" was a fee one must pay to cross a bridge. Maybe Lloyd's dick is that big. I don't know.

Adelaide doesn't have too many 6f2, strongly built, black skinned, shaved headed players in its team. So that mustn't have been Lloyd who assisted the ball to Hughes that scored our only goal. And it mustn't have been Lloyd who won every contested ball in the air last night and added some grit to our attack in the short time he was on.

Nope, must have been some other AU player.

As for lloyd, we all feel some sense of disappointment with him but - as redeye says - he did set up the goal last night. He's not all that we'd hoped for but he's not that bad. Better than our last marquee who sat on the sidelines for his entire contract and earnt twice as much.

Ah! the old tollgate. A great way to enter the city, but really Adelaide were decent but didn't have that driving force behind them. IMO they should tell themselves this is the biggest game of the year and give it there all. Get the media into a frenzy and stuck it up em.
