I appreciate the reply as I didn’t really expect one.

I have been a member for a few years and will be one for probably the rest of my life and being 28 you have my support for many years to come.

That support has never wavered. My emails were simply out of frustration at the approach of the players and in particular Mr Vidmar’s approach to the media. The media is their connection to the fans, and as unfortunate a situation as that may be, I just wish they treated us with a bit more respect. We as fans don’t necessarily want to hear that all is well and with luck we will do better and we will try harder etc.

We never really question the commitment shown by all the boys but we don’t need to be molly coddled. Some acceptance of responsibility on the part of the coach especially would go a long way to regaining some of the respect a few of the fans have started to lose. We all know that not every season can we win the league. We simply don’t need to hear the same thing every day that we played well but were just unlucky.

My sentiments exactly buddy...

I got Sam Ciccarello's email off a friend who supplies AU with some products.

I actually emailed him about some questionable team selections a while back and got the same reply below.

Gold Davide. Mate my number 1 theory in life is "The silent are the Dead"... kind of like a horror movie if you will. We all need to speak up so well done mate.

As for the response, i expected that sort of response. A professional club will never get into a tit-for-tat type reply. Still, it's nice to see someone at the club return emails.

He makes some salient points but there are too many errors wrapped up in too little fact.

What's an "Advertiser"??? :-k No, seriously, I don't read that garbage anymore. The only real football news about Adelaide United for me come directly from the official website itself.

i'm not sure anymore.. but i can tell you what a BADvertiser is. It's a shitty newspaper that features antagonists like Peter Gerball, Tim Hilferty, Geoff Cock-Roach and Graeme "vinegar-grin" Cornes.



I rarely go on there except for squad or club information... the news is mostly boring and stale. For me, all news comes straight from 442 and TWG. 2 genuinely good websites.

Didn't know that, but it wouldn't surprise me that the Advertiser gig is a part-time thing for him.

442 mostly source their information from Sportal and the A-League website these days. The World Game is a decent site, though I hardly visit there much.

Just a heads-up that 442 will have an exclusive from AU real soon, guys. While we were plotting they were already ahead of us.

That is setting the bar a bit low imo. Compare it to the Crows - whenever you email them you will get something back form someone relevant to your enquiry and it will be personal and on topic, will address what you've written with some candour (a bit too much candour in some circumstances - their membership manager has given me one or two very blunt replies with regard to the aging demographic and how they are useless at showing up to games!), and will generally ask you for further feedback. You really feel like what you've said has been taken on board by the right people at the club.

Not just a bullshit cut/paste response "thankyou for your concern but we don't really give a f*** what you think".

A professional club will not get into a slanging match, but it will make their members feel valued.

According to Val signing up a 23 (or 24) year old creative midfielder. I would prefer we signed up another striker, but a creative mid would be very nice as well.

But since it is Val saying it, it is probably bull. We will have to wait and see what the club says.

The last time we went after Flores he signed with a different club.
