I also don't mind the idea of Cristiano going. But this Flores guy is another midfielder isn't he? Is AUFC trying to be a mini version of the Socceroos? 3/4 of the players converted midfielders, no strikers to speak of (other than ones who don't suit our system) and a back line that is 50% class & 50% arse. Oh well... bring on Mr Young!

Im really not sure what to make of any of this. I mean it's not like either striker is firing this season (though I agree lloyd could be given a few more chances with a partner) but it just seems to be another sign that the club is crumbling from within. Announcing at this stage of the season that we want to get rid of our two strikers can not be good for morale surely...Also, Dodd is not a striker. He is a clear cut winger. We all know this. He is also not a Captain, if his head drops one more time when we concede im gonna scream but this is a topic for another time.
I guess all i mean is this just seems to be more evidence that things are falling apart and faster than ever:cry:
PS I just remembered something. Vidmar's quote in the paper the other day along the lines of his suspension wont effect the team on game day as there is not much a coach can do once the game has started.
WHAT????!!!!!!!!!
How bout switching things up in the 2nd half last game when 10 man gold coast started to dictate? Pantelis was outjumped for the header(not hard i realise) coz he was knackered and flat footed after an hour. Then after we conceded it was what? another 10 mins till the 75th when we made a sub? Jamo and Barbs(pace)should have come straight on for Hughes and Alemao. Incidentally what the FUCK did Alemao do last Friday? One shit run to the box in the first minute and then?? And i mean especially in the second half...i completely forgot he was out there. Is it just me or does he hide?
I dunno...now Im angry again. I was fine before logging on to 442...god damn it all  ](*,)

What Vidmar's saying here is that he can't chop someone's head off until after the game. It will leave a mess on the pitch otherwise.

Also they obviously didn't like my comment regarding Val's 'journalism', seems he can dish it out - but when critism about his work is levelled he can't handle it.

Without naming names - heard some interesting comments from someone within the Reds inner circle.
1. Viddie is gone. Thats right folks - Viddies days are numbered. The club imposed fine said it all. New coach is being sourced as we speak. 2. Flores has been signed. The club is holding back from announcing it as part of an agreement. 3. Cristiano and Owusu are definitely gone. They tried to get rid off Cristiano at the end of last year and couldnt get a deal done in time. 4. The number one internal issue? - to quote "too many chiefs not enough indians".

http://www.adelaideunited.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=30921Reds launch Junior Development Academy Wednesday, 25 November 2009 Michael Valkanis, Youth Team Captain Matt Mullen and three aspiring juniors at the announcement of the new academy. © AUFC Adelaide United FC in conjunction with IGA Supermarkets is proud to announce the establishment of the IGA & Adelaide United Junior Development Academy. The Academy will deliver professional skill based programs orientated around game drills and skill development. The first Hyundai A-League academy of its kind in Australia will feature two specific identification programs, a scholarship based Elite Program and a user pays Community Program. The 2010 Elite Program will comprise of boys born in 1997 and 1998, with the aim to identify, develop and foster talented junior South Australian footballers through the existing pathway by monitoring and managing their improvement, in the chance of one day becoming Adelaide United and even possibly Qantas Socceroos players of the future. In addition to the Elite Program, the Community Program targets boys and girls aged between 8-14 years, with the aim to help develop their skills and growth in a program that represents the culture of the Adelaide United Football Club. The program will be conducted in different regions around the Adelaide metropolitan area, and provides excellent value with all participants receiving specialist coaching from current and past Adelaide United players as well as receiving a Reds Academy playing strip, club merchandise and a membership for the 2010/11 Season. Academy Manager Michael Valkanis will oversee the operation of the academy, which will be assisted by a host of qualified coaches from within the Adelaide United Football Club, including ex and current players. “The main focus of the program will be on developing the technical skills of the young player, as well as giving them an all around development in all aspects of the game,” Valkanis said. “The technical resources of a team cannot only be measured in terms of what you go out and buy, but by what you produce internally, within the club, starting from our own academy program.” The selection process commenced in September, with the final squad of 22 for the Elite Program to be selected in December, the players chosen with the outlook of one day becoming potential Adelaide United players. “Once again the Adelaide United Football Club is leading the way with what will be the first Academy of its type in Australia,” Adelaide United CEO Sam Ciccarello said. “The program has been designed to ensure that players at the ages of 12 and 13 receive specialist coaching and development based on the soon to be announced FFA National Coaching Curriculum, as well as developing within the players the culture of the Adelaide United Football Club.” On the association with the academy, General Manager of IGA Distribution SA, Kym Coventry said, “IGA is very proud to be involved with Adelaide United and the Academy and the In-Schools Program, it’s all part of our food for life and evolution into our community involvement and junior development.” “This is another great fit for us and we’d love to thank Adelaide United for the opportunity to be involved and we look forward to a very long term relationship in junior development and lifestyles.” Adelaide United Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, is confident the academy will fast track the development of the best players in South Australia. “This academy is the first step in the pathway which will work closely with SASI, and the FFSA Development Programs and of course the Adelaide United National Youth League Program, with the ultimate aim of producing players who will be better prepared in their development towards becoming a professional footballer at Hyundai A-League level and beyond”, Petrillo said. The Academy will be held across 22 weeks beginning in March 2010. Academy Locations North – Buggerah Reserve (Alexander Avenue, Modbury North) South – Flinders University Sports Grounds (Sturt Road, Bedford Park) Central – Park B27 (Park Terrace, North Adelaide) Dont know if any of you have seen thisEdited by King Billy: 26/11/2009 04:32:15 PM

Internal footballing issues should have no effect on office staff. the problem is it is becoming a family run club from what i have heard. only a small few are at the top of there field or have enough experiance in working with the community

I had read that in the advertiser it is very good thing for adelaide united to be doing this. what i was saying is more about kids that may not have the talent and will become future members of the club.
congratulations to sam and the club on the academy

Like what most people have said in the past, we need a board to give direction to the club. At the moment, it's a total mess. Getting rid of Viddie without an owner to maintain order in the camp is sorta stupid. But hell, what do I know, I don't work in the football business.

Flores is apparently ready to go as soon as visa requirments are done and is happy here is a link to a video from his managment http://vimeo.com/2789337taken from www.adelaidereds.com.auEdited by bindiboy: 27/11/2009 09:31:42 AMEdited by bindiboy: 27/11/2009 09:32:03 AM

I watched it and i'm very impressed by Flores ball skills. The only problem i have is that i watched a similar video 6 months ago of another man scoring goal after goal for another team in another country. We hired that man and in the end: - We started him off the bench more than from kick off - Played him in a solitary formation - Played a style that exposed his weakness rather than his strength And in less than half a season he's already on his way out. I can bet my life that if Vidmar is our coach next year, Flores will have very little goal scoring impact like every other attacking midfielder/striker that has joined our team in the past.

Aparrently from what i have heard he isnt a goal. but he is a creater with goal scoring possibilities and a good shot. we can only cross our fingers. looks like our club has finally done the right thing by not announcing the signing till january.

We seem to be getting a lot of midfielders who "can score". Up until now, I haven't seen anything like that in our repertoire this season - with the exception of Leckie (and Pantelis if you count his penalty).
