+x+x+x+xOnce again, I don't like to speak too soon (he who laughs last and all that) but this is going to be a massive effort for kiwis if they're going to save this match. It looks like they'll be 500 or so behind with five sessions to play. Considering they haven't batted out more than 65 overs in an innings so far, would be some massive turnaround that. They have about four batters with averages over 40. They must all perform together soon. I aint giving us the win just yet.. the fat lady tho is warming her tonsils. Only Williamson and Taylor can save this match for them. May need to change that view as Patto has pinged the skipper in front for a duck egg. Now Taylor plays on. Black Caps imploding due to massive scoreboard pressure and some decent stuff by Pattinson..

+x+xAn absolute lesson in fast bowling from our quicks today. Eight of the wickets caught behind or in slips, with an lbw and a bowled, says it all. Something the kiwis don't seem able to do, but you're unlikely to succeed here if you can't get batsmen nicking and are unlikely to get them nicking if you won't bowl near the stumps. The 125 half trackers have their fans excited though lol. This kiwi attack is looking the most over rated I can remember, at this stage. Certainly not in the first four pace attacks in the world, probably not even in the first five (Windies are probably better). Quite hilarious considering all of the pre series bragging lol. At least Santna now has a wicket though (1 @ 250)! With Warner and Smith being reasonably quiet (for them), it's very good to see other batsmen scoring runs. Marnus has been great again. To be fair though, it has been a bowler dominated series and Smith is still 3rd in the runs tally so far (just in front of Warner). Certainly well clear of any kiwi batsmen. At least Warner is giving us some sort of start and a couple of Smith's innings have been instrumental in setting up both matches (first match where he stayed with Marnus through a difficult period under lights, this match where he stuck around and got us into day two with Head). Starc is only one run behind Williamson and only needs 15 more runs from this innings to overtake five of the kiwi top six lol. I don't like to speak too soon but the Kiwis have been very disappointing so far. They haven't really been any better than Pakistan. Better bowling perhaps, yet far worse batting (against our "rubbish" attack no less lol). Paddles love knocking our pace attack.. not world class. Then if Cummins, Hazlwood, Pattinson and Starc are not world class then mr so called cricket guru, the current Black Caps attack is barely Sydney Premier cricket class. It is a bit of a shame all four of Starc, H, Patto and Cummins are a similar age. If they had been playing in an era with a stronger Aus batting line up, they would have had resounding success at home. In other eras players like Bird, Tremain, Richardson, Meredith and Neser would probably be playing more Test cricket than they have to date. I’m hoping for a big innings from Williamson soon. He is a class batter and good to watch.

I suppose that Baggers and other TCA Members are identifying technical weaknesses in Burns, Wade and Head, who all have a predisposition to have too big a gap between bat and pad for vertical shots, yet the Kiwis have struggled to contain them is a significant issue.

Yes DC that and spending double time as us in the field in sweltering conditions.. they are unfamiliar with and that are frankly unsuitable for cricket. I have to say I am disappointed with this display by them all the same. The contest we all hoped for has not eventuated. Their bowling has been below par.. and with their batting being their strength.. have never reached anywhere what they are capable of.

I mean how do you have pride in a cap that has represented sportsmanship for so long when you play bodyline its no mystery to me why one of the most mentally tough teams in the world have shown no mental toughness this series. Same reason we struggled for mental toughness until recently

in india (when do we tour next?) you need to rotate your quicks. Starc pattinson and cummins can all make a mockery of the conditions and if we get a spin partner to lyon who knows what could happen

At 3-35 chasing 488, the BCs are really in strife.
I’m not sure if they can just defend for another day hoping to be saved by forecasted rain late tomorrow?

I often got told that however you finish the last game is how you start the next so there is always something to play for. If they force it to a 5th day and we bowl first in sydney then they might face a more fatigued lineup

This deck looks the easiest to bat on for the entire match. Even Blundell with little footwork looks reasonably comfortable. Those three important Patto wickets has sealed the deal but the BCs will battle it out.

Cummins bowling some 145 kph plus short balls.
That is very quick for short pitched deliveries.

I am keen to see how GOAT will bowl today on this pitch.

Baggers, Grazor, et al, Nicholls seems to be getting his bat close to his pad with his vertical shots.
Is that correct?

Fair play to them playing under serious scoreboard pressure.

Good sharp stumping from Paine off a sharply spinning GOAT ball. Hope those Whirlpool naysayers saw this!
Nicholls gone, but he played a decent knock under pressure.
Kiwis 4-89.
