Nothing like answering your own question  This is from the sAdvertiser this morning. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/new-reds-regime-is-set-to-rule/story-e6frecj3-1225851700671Quote: New Reds regime is set to rule ADELAIDE United mark III will commence from Monday with Football Federation Australia to award the Reds licence to Alan Young's Adelaide Business Consortium. Adelaide United's Champions League squad will return to a different Hindmarsh than the one they leave today en route to face Korean rival Pohang at the Steelyard on Tuesday. FFA and Young's ABC are scheduled to exchange paperwork at a press conference on Monday. Young has promised an "orderly transition" but there is no doubt there will eventually be structural changes with the new consortium determined to run a profitable club. While already raising the cash flow to warrant the club licence and entice the signature of blue-chip striker Sergio van Dijk, the Young consortium may not take day-to-day operational control for 12 months. An announcement of Adelaide Business Consortium's takeover of Adelaide United was expected by Easter. The Advertiser understands the consortium was anxious to eradicate the possibility of fine print flare-ups that has periodically caused conflict between other start-up franchises, such as the ailing North Queensland Fury and FFA. Young's consortium, containing a plethora of medium-size stakeholders, has the option of a full purchase within a year. Young last month revealed that the United mark III grassroots model will not be open to the public or "Mum and Dad investors" until all risk had been removed from the venture. "We will carry it to begin with, get the business in order then give the fans an opportunity," said Young, chairman of the Flinders Medical Centre Foundation. "We are going to incur the costs for the risks to begin with. By the time we make an offer to them it will look pretty good." That investment offer is almost certain to come by next April. Adelaide appeared to lack definitive direction during the 12 months since Nick Bianco relinquished ownership of the club to FFA. However, the decision of high-calibre recruits van Dijk and Argentine playmaker Marco Flores to commit to the Reds has coincided with pending ownership stability. Adelaide United vice-captain Lucas Pantelis believes strong ownership is integral to the long-term success of ambitious clubs. "I think when you have owners it gives you that stability," golden boot Pantelis said. "I am sure the players will welcome the new owners with open arms. It will be healthy for everyone." Young's initial task will be to approach the South Australian Cricket Association and bed down arrangements to switch a substantial number of Reds fixtures from Hindmarsh to 35,0000 capacity Adelaide Oval.

I see they are still wedded to Adelaide Oval. It's not going to work boys! AO is fine for the occasional bonanza but regular games will just the highlight the disadvantages of the poor playing surface and the lousy viewing, nor is it any easier to get to and parking is only better if you can afford it.
Ah well, at least it's one thing I'll be happy to be proven wrong on ... provided we get monster crowds at every game. Going to AO for 15,000 crowds is just stupid.
On the rest of the story. It's good to see some stability back at the helm and maybe some settled budgets (even if restricted).
So, next year, when we go undefeated, win every trophy and blast Asia out of the water (coz they realised we're too wonderful to leave out of the ACL), can we thank our own Clive Palmer?
Richard
This is a great club to support :d

I am also not sold on AO as our saviour, especially with the fact that any deal cut between us, SACA & the SANFL will be heavily in favor of SACA and the SANFL. If we move there and average 20k plus crowds but make as much as we did at Hindmarsh then that is a fail. Of course if we triple our membership and then can invest directly in the club we may be on so much greater a financial footing that we can look realistically at other options for the future.

Said this all along that if the roadmap set forth by the Young Consortium means trying to push for regular 25k attendances at Adelaide Oval in order to secure some sort of new rectangular stadium in the CBD, then i will renew my membership to help the cause.
But as it stands, Young lives in this make believe world where Adelaide Oval is apparently good to watch football? Plus there are no announcements on trying to achieve something like Melbourne has with Swan St. So please, please, keep ALL AU GAMES AT HINDMARSH. The HOME of FOOTBALL in SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

Is Adam Griffiths contracted for only the ACL?
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

+1 As supporters with a lot of collective football knowledge we all know the glaring drawbacks to AO, yet the more I read of this Young bloke, the more I dislike him. Worst case scenario - we end up with our own Clive Palmer - where money is more important than support. I hope I'm wrong but it's really a crystal ball job. Edited by redcup: 9/4/2010 04:55:22 PM

I am the ever optimist that with a larger stadium, larger crowds will come. But I too dislike watching the game at Adelaide Oval. It's a shame we don't have a larger stadium, with actual football specific dimensions.

Ii will be there tonight finally! No unexpected problems like kids birthdays or being sick to stop me :D I am expecting a 2 - 1 scoreline and I think we will see a goal from van Dijk and one from Barbs if he plays, otherwise it will be Cassio!

I'm with you JD. 4 zip about time for a big win and to rain on the Chandong coach's mind game.
Really sad to see Marrone move. Obviously there's someone in the backroom is getting on his goat. Jeez these admin bods annoy me! I'm a supporter who wants the best players on the pitch, and NO politics. But we in the grandstands can't do anything about it - sadly. ( Well I suppose we could raise the dosh and start our own club - anyone got a spare 7 million? )

Marrone just seems determined to get out of dodge, can't stop the kid if all he wants to do is move away. I wonder if he has the same attitude Burns used to have about Viddie - that he is getting on his back for no reason he can understand. Some of these young guys may need an attitude adjustment and wake up call.

Richard Melbourne Heart  Can't say I blame him. Better stadium, get to play football instead of anti-football, will get to be 1st choice right back, probably more money etc etc. No doubt some tard will come and add pissant town to the list as well....

The RB thing is a bit harsh, we have 6? of them on the books... Must say he has been a revelation as a roaming DM, especially as Mullen has been so good at RB.

Got my tix for the JM game. I was worried as I thought a penalty was a direct free kick, and I thought the AFC would disallow Sanfrecce's goal! I had to pull my rule book out to refresh my memory that Sanfrecce's kick was legal.
We were lucky that Pohang's keeper was surprised and Sanfrecce's brazen plan worked. My " lucky " shirt must have worked also, pity the other 8,000+ people didn't wear their lucky undies, shirt's, pant's............. etc, otherwise we would have won 6 - 0

I am still alive over here in Japan, didn't catch the game against Shandong live, so I'll watch a replay when I get home. Meanwhile I ventured to the Kashima v Gamba game today and this is what I saw as I entered the stadium from the Gamba Osaka supporters' end: Isn't that just a sexy sight to behold? A wall of red, quite literally! The chants and singing were pretty much non-stop. Even with the Gamba Osaka supporters I was seated with. Edited by RedsUnited: 2/5/2010 12:52:35 AM

No problems, I will look for a gold ticket next time I reckon - especially since it was what? $5 difference?

I got back this morning after 24 hours in the air and in Kuala Lumpur waiting for transfer. It's not a great feeling, so I finally understand what it's like to be like one of the boys when they went over to Japan for the fixtures. I've already booked a Red GA ticket for the R16 match, my reasoning being that I want the crowds to actually look good on TV. :p Need more people to attend than the game against Shandong! Speaking of which, I'm finally catching up on that game, and I've seen the first half so far. I was actually quite impressed with how well we maintained the ball, but yeah, finishing let us down again. As for the Kashima supporters pic up there, definitely click through, and then click on the image again to see the full size. It really puts their supporters into perspective. I've also got the following panoramic pic I took as well, showing the entire stadium from a Gamba Osaka supporter's viewpoint. http://yfrog.com/g0kashimastadiumjAgain click through to see the bigger pic. Apparently it won't let me show the thumbnail, and it's a huge pic, so have a look if you're on fast net. Edited by RedsUnited: 4/5/2010 06:04:22 PM

I got my tix printed and handed over there & then, so I'm a happy camper - now just a Reds win!!
