You can't blame them really:- aussie-rules @ AAMI vs a pre-season friendly that United haven't marketed at all!

Woohoo! Another 2-0 win. Goals by van DIjk and Pantelis. And we actually played beautiful football near the end there! I'm happy. More in depth stuff when I actually calm down a bit.

van Dijk headed home a Pantelis cross for the first and then Pantelis broke through the Pheonix defence for the second. Pretty good performance, Hughes was actually pretty solid, imo.
We started with a 4-2-3-1 with Pantelis and Leckie switching flanks a few times. ---------Birighitti Mullen--Boogaard--Fyfe--Cassio ----Hughes----24(Ferrante?) Leckie---Flores---Pantelis -------van Dijk
Wtf was with the ticket price though? They were advertising $13 and then when I got to the gate I had to pay $14.50.

The $1.50 is the Ticketek transaction fee. That was mentioned on the pricing too. :p
25 was Ferrante, and he started. He wasn't that great - seemed to have no idea how to position himself in regards to everyone else when we were in possession. Hughes was great as DM to be honest.
I thought #26 (Iain Ramsay) was pretty good on the left side. At first, he too didn't know where to position himself, but after Pantelis yelled at him a few times, they linked up well with Cassio providing the overlaps too.
On the other side, #24 (Tony Hatzis) was pretty good as a replacement for Mullen at RB. I didn't think he played as RB though... But when a group of the Reds found themselves in a right defensive situation back there, they all managed to move the ball around with one-touch passing, and eventually pushed the ball forward ALONG THE GROUND. :p That was when everyone cheered.
No. 27 (Greg Lombardo) was pretty good in midfield too. Provided attacking movement in place of Flores, and his vision seemed pretty good too.
Now the only thing is, I'm not sure if I've gotten Lombardo and Hatzis mixed up... :p

Birra did a pretty good job in goal. Barking orders at the defence as well, keeping them in shape. Looks like he has learnt a lot from Eugene. Leckie was pretty lively too. He and Pantelis pushed fairly high in attack.
Pretty pleasing performance in all. Hopefully van Dijk can keep the goals coming this season.

Eugene, Barbs, Shin, Cornthwaite and even big Lloyd were in the corporate box behind me watching the Adelaide v Geelong game on the TV in there.

Really hope we don't sign Lombardo wasn't impressed at all. Hughes was fantastic IMO, was impressed with Boogard too.

Haha, I saw Eugene and Robbie walking into the stadium, they walked past a couple of people who didn't recognise them until after they had walked past them. Then they both realised at the same time and quickly turned around to make sure. Was quite funny to watch

Was impressed with Biraghiti between the sticks. Had to revise my opinion as to being a bit of a " show pony ". He commanded the box well I thought. Boogard and Fyfe looked assured. Flores was almost non-existant, was waiting for his ACL form to kick in, but it never arrived. United kept possesion well and Hughes actually showed an ability to play! The team strung passes along the ground and only reverted to negative back play a few times. Does Cassio ever have a bad day? Just mesmerising to watch him toy with left-sided defenders. I think him @ LB this year is going to be a revelation. Even Serg put in, and his goal was sublime. Difficult to believe Tony Hatzis only plays Premier league! All in all very satisfactory hit-out. Hope that Rini only improves the team as Stubbins work with them has been a revelation.

Was really impressed with the boys last night...Thought Hughes was exceptional...considering the hammering he took last year...but that being said he was never going to be a creative midfielder, always Defensive...
The Kid looked assured in goals, goal kicks were at times comical but commanded his area, is quick off his line and certainly doesn't look out of place...
Pantelis didn't fall over to much which was helpful...seems to have been some work with the corners and crosses, I don't think one hit the first defender last night and all were into dangerous positions...
All in all looked good, some nice patient play when required and then swift attacking forays when needed...
Booger and Fyfe were solid as in the centre of defence...
Nice to leave Hindmarsh after a win, didn't happen much last year...

Good first up game.
Enjoy seeing the boys run out in the black away strip looked good fro a preseason friendly match. Crowd was good too. only the western stand but we made the most of it.
kudos to the Adelaide supporter who got under the skin of Chris Greenacre (got a reaction out of him)
Adam hughes is suited as a defensive midfielder rather than attacking. Something I learnt last night.
Impressed with Humphrey Boogard too at the back.
Regardless of where we finish this year I hope we see a revolution in the way football is played not just in Adelaide but the whole league. I hope we see 11 different styles of play. The way we play the game, the way the teams prepare matches. It was just fun to go to the game not worrying about the result. I will be there when we take on the Ribena Berries next week.
Shame I miss 3 home games when I go to America next week but my American Girlfriend is now a Reds supporter so will have to see some of the games on the net. Will spread the brand throughout the state or Arkansas while Im there.
last thought to all reds supporters with your Friday night shout option try and get someone out ot the 4 you picked who totally hates the sport and can't see the point in it. If they come back to one more game and actually pay for it then you have done your job as a supporter. Lets grow the Adelaide United brand beyond just Football. Its a family!!!!
Oh and before I forget the curtain raiser game between the girls from Para Hills Knights and University was an absolute cracking game for any who were there to see it. Para Hills won 4-3 and the quality of the goals leave some A-League games for dead. I can see a few of these players playing in the W-League for sure.
