Yeh that's why I just decided to go for it and book. Just last week it would have cost me about $80 for a return flight, it's cost me over $120 now. One of the flights on the Friday has already sold out with Tiger.

Just realized our end of season trip to Radelaide co-incides with the visit of Wellington on Oct 22nd. Might have to organize a trip to the game, now just the matter of who to support......

In my opinion, he's still not good enough for the first squad. Poor touch compounded by lack of drive makes him only good as a stop-gap solution whilst we have players out with injury. He made no impact and Shin was doing well. Shouldn't have been taken off. Mind you, he didn't make a hash of a brilliant goal-scoring opportunity like another Reds sub.... Monte looked glacial beside Leckie and Ramsey. Monterosso... on Friday night you could see the reason why Vidmar was always reluctant to play him: a clear cut scoring opportunity and he was too slow to get his shot in. I still hope he comes good one day, though....

I only just read this: Quote:Adelaide United's fitness manager bows outVal Migliaccio From: The Advertiser August 19, 2010 11:26AMADELAIDE United's fitness and conditioning manager Andrew Young has walked out on the club. Young - who was instrumental in keeping Adelaide's players free from soft tissue injuries when he joined the club at the start of the club's AFC Champions League campaign - parted company with the Reds earlier this week. Sources have stated that Young was unhappy with certain club conditions before he tendered his resignation. Source: Adelaide Now Seems the Adelaide United section of the FFT website needs to be updated. :p

Our thread has gone quiet lately... 2 wins, 6 goals - more to come, surely!
We have Sydney FC next week, let's hope we continue this early form we've worked up.
GO YOU REDS!

6 goals, and Sergio hasn't contributed any so there is room for improvement!
But if Flores is going to score goals like that who needs Sergio?

How are Dodd and Barbiero going to fit into the present setup when they come back?

With Rini at the helm, I'm sure he'll expect ALL players to compete for their spot in the squad when they are fit. So even if Dodd and Barbiero are proven to be fit and training with the squad, I doubt we'll see them for at least a couple of weeks after that.

Yeah Hughes for Barbiero I guess as he gives a bit more box to box running and not JUST cover...Hmmm good question. Pants may have to go possibly but that always seems unlikely.
Can i just say Stephen as well you said Pants had 3 assists against NQF but it was Reid who played the chip to Flores wasn't it?
Goal of the year so far no doubt...Oh and I agree that Watson is NOT up to the standard or at the very least is NOT a right back. He is woeful. His defensive positioning is shit house but his passing is no better either so i dunno...
anyhoo, when fit?
...............Eugene........ Mullen..Cornflakes...Fyfe...Cassio ............Barbs...Reid............. Dodd..........Flores...........Leckie ..............Serj.........
I have definately noticed though that under Coolein, Hughes doe stend to pull out further wide on the right rather than strictly screen the CBs which does almost make it look like more of a true 4-3-3 which is might pleasing I must say.
BTW that is a sexy looking line up if you ask me with Pants and Ramsay to come on as threats and Shin and Hughes to plug gaps etc...gold

Actually from the way that SVD and Flores have been playing, we could do worse than swap them positionally and use Flores as CF and SVD as a second striker/CAM.

With Ramsey and Pants both playing ok there will be enough pressure to make Doddsy wake up and options to change the game up a gear when needed. Fast and skillful....yeah! You're right. It was Reid. I noticed my mistake and went back and corrected it later. Pants must be leading on assists though...? I'm not his greatest fan, I just think credit where credit's due.

Boy am I excited!!!!!
Such a long way to go though so know I should temper that excitement but jeez its hard. Especially considering the year we all experienced. 6 goals in 2 games? Who the hell are we?

I don't really care about the Finals series, as long as we finish top at the end of the season. If we make the finals but don't finish top, THEN I'll be jumping on the Finals bandwagon. :p We need to get into the ACL again - seriously.

We are the continental specialists of the A-league, but you gotta be in it to prove that point! Flores fitness must continue improving. And the Pantelis one is a tough issue. I was having a conversation with a mate at half time that I don't rate pantelis but just as momentum for him to be dropped is gaining, he bobs up with a useful goal or two. 2nd half you all know what came next

Pantelis, Pellegrino (Perth) and Payne (NQ) have 3 assists each at this point. I can see Pantelis heading up that table more now that Jamieson has left us.
Interestingly, Galekovic is STILL the leading keeper in keeper saves - 3rd year running now.

Ahahaa the Melbourne Victory comment was just me being silly. CLEARLY would rather finish top. Champions League just feels like something we need to be in every year, or at least only a year between doesnt it? We belong there. Can any other A-League club claim that? I don't think so ;)

I absolutely love Champions League football, and us being in our very own AFC Champions League is always going to make me happy. It's a shame the prestige of it is lost amongst the general population in Australia.

How come Dodd's and Barbiero's injury has gone way over the 2 and 3 weeks stated at the beginning of the season? Is there something the AU hierachy are not telling us? - how unusual!!
Mind you I s'pose as captain Dodd will HAVE to start once he comes back. But who will make way for these 2?
Ramsay must be pissed off - he scores a brace then is dropped, and with these guys return he'll go even further down the pecking order. Also am unsure if Flores should play against Victory, as I'm worried " mad dog " Musket will break his legs. But then again Flores has probably played against more rabid players in his history, and we'll need him to beat 'em.

Edited by redcup: 2/9/2010 04:48:30 PM I am mostly worried that defenders in general are going to feel emboldened by the MRP decision to engage in more niggling in the box.

I'd say the extended time in "injury-mode" is due to rehabilitation taking longer than expected. Being careful is probably better than pushing a player out before they've fully recovered and have had enough training sessions under their belt.
Speaking of which, do we know if Leckie had his knee fixed in the off-season?

For all Flores fans - tonight ( 3 Sept ) channel 7 news.
I aqgree totally RU but why put 2 weeks on an injury? Years ago I remember my Business Studies lecturer saying " ALWAYS include unforseen contingencies in your plan. "
