I've lost count of the amount of Aussie players that have flopped in Japan

How many Australian CBs are available and are worth chasing? Spiranovic hasn't kicked a ball in seven months, although it would be good for his career to come full circle back to Victory.

Obviously a fantasy, but loaning Dylan Ryan from Willem II would be terrific.

His contract was up at the end of the season, and he'd probably already told the club he was looking at going overseas, so at least we got a fee. Only three days left in the transfer window, closes midnight Friday night, so I'm not holding my breath for a replacement.

I wonder if we can slip a brown paper bag to CCM and get Rowles on loan, he's eligible under FFA's system, but I'm not sure it has us in mind, obviously.

+x+x+xPerhaps MV fans are just a bit over this season. The squad is simply not good enough to do well in the ACL or the A league. Add to that the scheduling that makes it impossible for MV to succeed in either comp and it all becomes a bit ho hum. we have become apathetic. and what do you expect when you're 5 points out of the top 6 with a game in hand? I would be pissed off if we were 5 points off top spot at this point of the season, let alone the top 6. its going to be an interesting offseason to see what the club will do to reverse the slide - and I don't just mean the slide on the ladder, but the slide in members and crowd numbers. a healthy Victory is very important for this league. A healthy MV fan base is a must for the league. Perhaps you could say the same for WSW. SFC and MC at the top of the ladder kills the league as their fan bases are a total flop. Both should be attracting much bigger crowds and member numbers. I understand MC fan situation as the fundamental basis for this club is floored but SFC fans have no excuse. They have let the league down. "Flawed"

That's all well and good but considering where we are at the moment, i hope they had more notice than they are letting on and we have been seeking out a replacement for a while.

One week until we have to finalise our list for the group stage.
Who goes for Rojas?
Do we risk bringing back Hoogland, or will he just be injured?

This could be our best ACL ever.
A confidence-building win at home against Chiangrai first, then we get our two hardest fixtures out of the way: Seoul away, then Beijing away. This timing could hardly be better as the Seoul game is almost two weeks before the K League starts, and Beijing will only be two weeks into their season.
If we can smash those then we only have two home games and Chiangrai away to deal with, if we play like we did today then I'd say we have a chance to finish first.
Round of 16 in May is now two-legged, we'd face the winner or runner up of group F, one of Ulsan, Shanghai Shenhua, FC Tokyo or Perth Glory. Hopefully we won't get too distracted by the A-League finals, but it is our chance to qualify for the 2021 ACL, to be fair. Our last group stage game (which is in between the first two finals games) is at home after we luckily get a bye for the last round of the regular season, and the Grand Final will be on 16/17 May while the Ro16 starts 26/27 May, so the fixture congestion is really not that bad at all this time.
Get through that and Carlos will have a chance to refresh the squad in the Australian offseason before the Quarter Finals starting in late August. It'll be deep into our criminally long offseason (although we should have two FFA Cup games under our belt by then) but Carlos will have had a chance to have made the team truly his own, if all has gone well.
Today changed everything.

Why we probably agreed that if he got a good opportunity we wouldn't stop him moving. He was a loyal servant to the club and this is a great opportunity for him.

Seems like the Vuck are pretty good with not getting in the way of players chasing opportunities in other leagues...apart from the Milligan saga of course.

I more meant I can't recall other situations where the player really wanted to go and we didn't make it work. It was fair enough to keep him and IIRC we ended up winning trophies that very season?
