Adelaide United this Saturday will be a good test to see if we can come back from a loss last weekend. This weekend is a must win if we want to make finals. The next few rounds are crucial.

One thing we tend to lose sight of is how badly people got scarred by emotional investment in their clubs with hideous results over the years.

To that end, I would rather have unhappy fans watching and commenting than no fans at all.

Nothing wrong with pessimism and the need to see results before engaging the emotional drives again. That is perhaps one of Robbie's biggest challenges.

Very true, there's a big mess that has been building for several years.  Hopefully RF can help the club turn the corner.

We certainly weren’t CRAP against SFC, either before or after the red card

Sorry Waz, we still didn't look like a good team other than maintaining structure.

I guess the alternative is eternal pessimism viewed through crap coloured glasses, which you  have eloquently posted for us repeatedly.  Thank you for your balance ;)

Well it's my opinion and we look friggin ugly on that pitch. All respect to your opinion however, wasn't having a go but we need to admit that we don't have the quality cattle.

I choose to look at the positives and I think the positives are obvious !!
can you not see some positives???

Overall improvement has to be one of the main objectives.....and there is improvement.

We will never ever be like Juve or Real or PSG but that doesn't mean we are crap.

we must have our perspective balanced as to the league and the players.

You can be positive no problem and I like to be a realist. Of course I can see improvement and I've said as much in the past including recently re Fowler.

No one is looking for Roar to be like Juve or PSG,  but I'm sure there would be many that want us to resemble something like a top 4 side in the humble A-League. Now that's not asking for too much is it?

We're far from it at the moment even with the improvements.

All good :)  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I agree that the squad can be improved and if they can bring in one or two additional players in key positions I think top 4 next year isn't out of the question.

For sure. Disappointing that many of us were already saying before the season even started that we needed 1 or 2 quality players. My hope was the January window, but alas it didn't happen (no, Macca or Brown don't fit that bill).

Funniest thing during Ange's era was that the play was slow with a stack of passing backwards that people constantly hammered the team over it.  Ange's first season whn he took over from Frank was far worse than what we're witnessing now.  I am not saying that you can compare this team with that great team, but you can see where RF is going.

The big difference during the Ange era was the aggressive press once we lost the ball and speed of transition.
In the end teams got behind the ball in defence and it became more difficult for Roar players to score....Our limited quality was exposed..Something Arnie exploited.....The writing was then on the wall.
In the ACL we werent just exposed, our pants got pulled down....
Ange realised his players werent good enough to go to the next level and he bailed.

Now we have RF stepping in ,with the HAL teams playing at a higher level than Ange ever had to deal with.(Roar was the only team who could string passes together. Now they all can)...
Unfortunately RF really has lower quality players than Ange had...Hence the problems we are in.

I find our brand of football entertaining.

When we get it right (and we do get it right) it is beautiful to behold.

Thinking that we can make those good bits into something consistent is my hope and I am a realist thinking that is possible but recognising we have some distance to travel until we get there.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Geez mate, entertaining? Beautiful to behold? Really?
I agree the quality of play has improved somewhat over the past few weeks, and as a Roar fan I am transfixed when watching the games, but I certainly wouldn't say it anything near entertaining or beautiful to behold.

You don't get excited watching 4 or 5 players pass seamlessly through the opposition lines? Especially when they are quality opponents? It does not strike you as beautiful football? It may not happen often, but the skill is there when it clicks, and we saw a few instances of it last week against Sydney.

I do not require a whole game of football to be played at that level to either be entertained, or to admire those bits as beautiful football when I see them.

So yes - really!

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Amazing I agree, but all to their own.

I found the tactics somewhat interesting but the entertainment value is rock bottom. I struggle to go and watch them such is the status.

I think we can get back to being the most successful in terms of trophies but we really need to stop living in the past. We often see the club doing flashbacks on social media. I hate that because it's like we are pretending.

Yep agree.

We've seen enough of how poor Roar's management is and it starts with owners. The running of the club and its football has been for too long been unreliable, inconsistent, controversial and poor decision making. You can't grow a supporter base like that. You can't win trophies like that.

As for Roar, I wish the Bakries would just sell up and get out of here. Enough is enough.

Looking forward to the Adelaide game. Hopefully the rain stays away so we get a decent crowd.  I'm guessing it will be the same starting line-up with Bowles to step in for Neville and maybe O'Neil for Pepper?

Brisbane Lions are playing in a WAFL season opener on the same day. Roar might lose some patronage.

Be surprised if attendance reaches 5 digits.

Im not a fan of playing oshea so deep is the only thing. He did do a good job defending, but he generally not good at that. When he on the ball further up on the pitch that where he is useful and the momentum swings brisbane way when he is on the ball in the final 3rd. So putting him as a CM or DM position confuses me.

Albion Park, Perry Park, Toowong Memorial Park, Davis Park, the old Pauls site (although I think the knock down would blow that budget so a long shot), somewhere at UQ.

Those are the only inner city sites (excluding Ballymore which isn't going to happen) I can think of, of course they could be very much stretching the definition of inner city.

I think it is a stretch to classify it as inner city (particularly from the north, it would be like saying Chermside is inner city from the South), but yes could be on the list.
