As for Pantelis "injury" doing a step over... well, that was just plain stupid now wasn't it Lucas. You didn't look injured to me. Just humiliated.

Sacking a Team Manager and then giving that role to our Football Director has got to be one of the most strangest things i've ever heard.

So Petrillo, who is responsible for ALL things football... is now lumped with making sure every player's jerseys, socks 'n jocks are washed, delivered and accounted for on match day... not to mention ensuring everything is running smoothly, signing off on any paperwork and general admin, making sure medical supplies, drinks etc are in supply...

I see a resemblance with Qantas here...

What next... the players will have to take their jerseys home and wash them too?

Sounds like combining jobs and swinging the axe to save money - you're safe if you're a drinking buddy of the new owners and bet on the gee-gees - Gerrard's passion ( football's probably a fairway down the list! )

Agree = QANTAS. Maybe the owners are scared of going the same way as ANSETT

Adelaide Oval Ticketing Update

Thursday, 25 November 2010

With the recent completion of the extensive re-development of the Western Grandstand at the Adelaide Oval, Ticketek and SACA are putting the finishing touches on the ticket build for Adelaide United’s two blockbuster matches – Midweek Fixture vs. Sydney FC on Wednesday 29 December 2010 and Week 27 vs. Melbourne Victory on Friday 11 February 2011.

Adelaide United FC expects the ticket build to be complete within the next few weeks. Once the ticket build is complete, members’ seats will be allocated for these two matches and seating details will be sent to all club members via post.

The general public will be able to purchase tickets once all members’ tickets have been allocated. All pricing and ticketing details will be made available shortly through the Adelaide United website www.adelaideunited.com.au.

In the meantime, for any questions or enquiries regarding the Reds’ two matches at the Adelaide Oval, please call the Adelaide United Football Club on 8340 3000 or email info@adelaideunited.com.au.

Both of Adelaide United’s previous two games at the Adelaide Oval have attracted great crowds, which included a Hyundai A-League record for a match played in South Australia, and these two blockbusters against rivals Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory will be games not to be missed, particularly with the new Adelaide Oval redevelopment.

Just listen to us, say clubs Back of the net with

Val Migliaccio From: AP November 26, 2010

'WE want to be heard, we want a voice," said one of the chiefs of the 22 clubs that have reportedly signed a principle agreement asking the FFSA to change the way its standing committee operates.

Since the Crawford Report's recommendations have been in place, clubs were "seen but not heard" said the chief. "It's not a breakaway at all, we also want the FFSA to be clear with all the rules at the start of the year. There has been a lot of grey areas when it came to transfers and competitions."

BEN Buckley has promised that the Socceroos will play at Adelaide Oval for the first time since the 1950s.

The national team last played in Adelaide in 2004.

"The limitations have been the size and scale of the venue," said the Football Federation Australia chief executive.

"When the right game comes along we will get them to come to Adelaide. Once Adelaide Oval is looking good then that's the logical place to play."

ADELAIDE United's Melbourne Victory jinx is set to be broken in Victoria next year.

After three years of losing at Etihad Stadium, Adelaide will now face Melbourne at AAMI Park on January 9 after a venue change last week.

HEAD goalkeeping SA coach Chris Higgins is leading an entourage of budding shot stoppers in a tour of English clubs.

The youngsters will train with youth academy coaches of Tottenham Hotspurs, West Ham, Everton, Liverpool, Fulham, Bolton, Manchester United and Manchester City.

GERMANY'S transfermarkt.de website has listed Adelaide United's roster as being the most expensive in the A-League.

Adelaide's market worth is $10.3 million.

Eugene Galekovic and Mathew Leckie are listed as the most valuable at $1.35 million apiece. But despite the price tag Leckie is set to head to Germany on a free transfer at the end of the season when his Reds contract ends.

However, Adelaide can gain fiscal benefits if it chooses to sell Galekovic, who is contracted until 2013.

MO Bros Travis Dodd, Paul Reid and Nigel Boogaard have all done their bit to raise awareness for men's health for the Movember celebration.

All three have grown moustaches similar to B-Grade actors.

Reid's got the Cheech Marin handlebar happening, Dodd has the Tom Selleck broom-lip and Boogaard . . . he has the Leif Garrett.

ADELAIDE-BORN Hollywood actor Anthony LaPaglia has been named in the Football Federation SA's over 35s squad.

LaPaglia will head to Las Vegas' King's Cup with the squad that is now coached by Earl Pudler after John Kosmina was forced to withdraw due to work commitments.

THE Martyn Crook Foundation Recycle-A-Ball project aims to give every footballer in the state a ball to play with.

Old balls will be distributed to clubs and individuals with limited funds.

If you want to participate call Richard Crook on 0409 475 238 or visit www.tmcf.org.au

Anyone else think that the crowd looked more than 12,000?

I thought it would have been at least 13k.

Adelaide have regained the confidence they had a month or two ago; they were more pleasing to watch than they have been for some time. No bad performances from anyone!

Other than Djite hitting the post, we limited GC to very few real chances. Their goal came when the ref allowed too much stoppage time played at the end of the first half.

Bring on Brisbane!

I thought it looked 13k minimum as well. You could tell from the packed general admission stand, all the way to the sides on the top tier. The north and south ends were decently packed as well. I can't comment on the western grandstand as I was sitting on that side, but it sure felt pretty full too.

Western grandstand supposedly holds 5,400- there were only a handfull of empty rows so would have been close to 5k. Manton St stand virtually full- holds 4,300. Well over half full behind each goal- another 3-4k.

That would have made it 12,500 to over 13,000. Great counting, guys!

It's more than just that. The clubs want to appoint and pay their own person to sit at the FFSA office and run the competition based on the super league and premier league club requirements.

They have had a meeting with most clubs attending and then a couple of them have met with the board to advise them of their intentions and preferences.

Doesn't this sound extremely familiar to what's happening in the A-League, the NSW Premier League and the Victoria Premier League of late???

It's funny that the ONE thing most clubs and franchises in this country want, is also the same thing that was recommended in the Crawford report, and is also the same thing the governing bodies won't give up: CONTROL of THE LEAGUES.

FFSA, FFV... they're all f**ked. Makes me sick

I read a very interesting post on the WeAreTheReds forum today about AUFC not requiring a marquee. I found myself agreeing to it too. It basically said that AUFC as a club and its supporters probably don't need a marquee as we can already see the success our team has had without one, and realise it's a team sport not an individual sport as we're quite well 'football-educated' here in Adelaide.

A fair point. I think flair with the ball matters much more to Adelaide fans than name recognition. Why splurge a lot of money on a Dwight Yorke or Robbie Fowler when you can get a Marcos Flores for just a percentage of what a big name marquee would require? And there's no doubt in my mind that a guy like Flores pulls spectators in Adelaide.

Also we already have an Australian marquee in Eugene, and the International spot would need to be filled by a real livewire - not interested in some 30+ looking to retire but could handle someone around 23 looking to make a name for themselves... wait a minute! Sounds like Flores?!?

Basically I agree entirely about not needing a marquee, as far as AUFC members probably think they have been a massive waste of money.

Disapointing the way United lost control of the game in the second half in Christchurch... and allowed a pumped up Phoenix to give them a shaking up. It happens too often in away games.

Leaving out the poor refereeing by Peter O'Leary (Dodd sent off for an accidental collision!?) there were no excuses. Flores fannying around like a headless chook and exerting no influence; Dodd never getting forward at all and running at the 'Nix defence; no-one defending the post at a corner kick... the list goes on.

A big test for the squad with five games coming up before the end of the year... hurry up and get fit, Leckie!

Got over it now and can talk about it.
That being said, we really needed 3 points there.
Let's just pray that CCM, GC and the Roar start slipping up!
Still we'll win the toilet seat!

I think Leckie is too far away but I'm hoping for Boogard to start - virtually the whole season out for a guy that impressed me pre-season. The upside he'll replace Robbie " lump it long to no-one " Cornthwaite [-o<

I think that Flores plays well @ Hindmarsh.

C'MON YOU REDS!!

Finally able to get my Membership Committee application in to AUFC - that has been a struggle with all the storms etc chewing up my time. Looking forward to Friday night even more now!

Anybody in here know about what's happening with Boogard?

I was very impressed with him pre-season. He was injured about Aug 10. We were told he'd be out for 5 weeks - that's long since passed!

We were told nearly 3 weeks ago that he was in full training and ready to play along with Mullen.
As far as I know he hasn't featured with the youth, he just seems to have dissappeared.

We need him as Cornthwaite can't pass and he let Sigmond get in front of him and OUTJUMP him in the box in ChristChurch
