People say the success of Adelaide United's crowds is because of the 'Friday Night' effect, we have consistent Friday night fixtures and everyone knows that Friday night is United's night.
So we have a final on a Friday, and people still complain.
If the game was Saturday people would complain that it clashes with soccer trials late in the afternoon, you can't win with some people.
We have our Friday night, I'll be there regardless of price and reserved seating, sure that is shit but to complain that we are clashing with the Fringe on our night, Friday night, is ridiculous.
Show up or shut up, IMO. How bout go eat a dick if you dont want anyone else's opinion what in God's name are you doing on a forum? Go fuck yourself you twat Ive been a memeber for 4 years and never miss a game so if i wanna have a cry coz the FFA has scheduled it on one of the biggest night sin Adelaide then whatever, I fucking well will. Well, I have my ticket for Friday night and depending on my mood after the game, will head down to the Fringe afterwards.
I still think the FFA are idiots that don't know how footballing attendances work here in Adelaide, and that they are just milking all the money they can now because of the failed World Cup bid. But whatever, I'm gonna be there supporting my team.

Judging by your tourette's rage it seems you can't handle an opinion either. What day would you play the game? Remembering all weekend there are plenty of soccer trials, which caused Greg Griffin to blow up to FFSA when the same thing happened against the Pheonix.

Is anyone having trouble buying tickets?? I tried to purchase online and it says my member number is invalid, I rang Ticketek and sat on hold for 45 minutes and then they tell me the same thing, even though it says this number on the back of my card I have been going to every game with! They told me to contact the club which I can't do until tomorrow. Are members still able to purchase tickets tomorrow?

It says "MEMBER #" and I'm using that. Do you remember how they sent us cards at the start of the season and told us to get rid of those? Well I tried using the number on the back of that one which doesn't work to get into games and that number works, BUT, it is only letting me purchase a family pass, which the woman on the phone said the same thing, so that number was probably re-allocated to a family membership. I'm just going to have to ring the club tomorrow and get them to sort this out.

But whatever, I'm gonna be there supporting my team. Our last home finals game, two years ago against the Qld Roar, pulled a crowd of only 8.5k... for the same reason that people are mentioning now- reserved seating and inflated ticket prices (and perhaps Viddie's pissant comment had an effect as well!)

I'd play it on whatever day best suits me.Im clearly the most important factor here. Look I get it i was just having a whinge(this IS the internet after all)I miss so many things coz of the games throughout the year and NEVER complain about it including Laneway last Friday which I actually had $110 tickets for and gave them up. I was just praying they didnt play it on Friday night as my mates have a very important gig to play and i wanted to be tehre to support them and thought fringe opening night was a little silly. I dont know about soccer trials around teh state im 29 with no kids and havent played myself for 4 years. though a Saturday night could have been good surely? Ill probably still go to the game but i reserve the right to be annoyed... It was your "show up of shut up" line which i found completely unnecessary as Ive been there almiost every week from the start. Also it was Monday afternoon so that would also explain the tourettes I guess Edited by davide82: 15/2/2011 10:59:46 AM

Each individual always has other plans for United matches, but I think putting it into context the FFA's decision wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be. It was never going to be a Sunday, excluding the Public Holiday match against the Roar, when was the last time we had a Sunday match? It wouldn't have made much sense. Saturday as I said, soccer trials, which severely affected the Wellington match attendance. I know the Big Bash final was that night, but leaving the location argument out for a minute, an attendance jump from 8k to 21k, while there was a showdown at AAMI stadium, shows there was other factors that affected that crowd against the Phoenix. Our last Saturday final had a terrible attendance, sure the tickets were expensive and Viddy was a dick, but maybe that's FFA's way of 'saying we've learnt our lesson, we will keep the continuation of Friday night matches rather than change it around'. At the end of the day, you have to see what is going to affect the attendance more, The Fringe opening attracts families, but it also attracts weirdo hippies, 13 year slappers, and 16 year old blokes hoping to pick up the 13 year old slappers, hardly the crowd the soccer attracts. Comparing that to the 2000 odd which would be running around with soccer trials, and the resulting families who watch the trails. For what it's worth, the match has sold 5000 tickets already, so it's not too bad thus far, but once again, I do see your point.

Hindmarsh certainly has it's fair share of young slappers. Didn't see many around Adelaide Oval last Friday, maybe it's not the social 'place to be' like Hindmarsh next to the hotdog stands. ;)

Is it possible to eat a slapper and a hotdog from the hotdog stand - at the same time? I'd like that very much.

Cheers scouse, reckon it would be an epic game - I feel (one eyed I know) that we are much better competition than CCM when we have our first XI on the park, and it looks like that is exactly what we would have in the GF :)

Meanwhile, our Baby Reds fought back from the bottom of the table to finish the season either 3rd or 4th depending on this weekend's other results. Not too bad if I do say so myself...

Okay so Rini's review is done. Here's what I got out of it:
- no player/coach/staff is bigger than the club - AUFC will not tolerate any egos bigger than the club - van Dijk to fill our marquee player position - Flores may be leaving... :( - Rini is aware of our defensive woes - wants CB's, speedy wingers, midfielders (playmakers?) and a striker - Trani to replace Stubbins - Rini will try to watch as many state league matches in the off-season as he can - Focus on development of local players - Mullen, Barbiero, Malik - More local youth will be blooded - Kostopoulos, Wooding, Welsh invited to trial with the senior team in pre-season - Signing of Melling and Izzo from AIS for January onwards.
I know we're still years away from seeing our elite academy produce players for the senior team, but boy, I'm enjoying being an AUFC supporter right now. Good things seem to be but on the horizon.

So we have lost Hughes and gained Djite, not a bad swap but would have preferred both. Of course depending on the players we sign we may end up play 3-5-2 with a lop sided back 3...
