+x+xArnie said 8 or 9 out of the 11 overseas players he wants to pick have so far been released for the tournament and the other 2 or 3 are awaiting confirmation. Good news. Or maybe it's bad news because if they were valued you'd think their clubs would be putting up a fight to keep them around lol

Who would likely partner Deng as the other starting CB?

And Gabriel Cleur appears to be the only RB selected in the squad.
This squad seems a little too stacked with attackers and midfielders. I’m worried about that backline.

Interesting that Blackwood didn’t make the squad considering the relative amount of game time he’s had vs some of these players. I guess if you’re not good enough, you’re not good enough.

From the squad selected, I'd imagine this would be our strongest XI. Glover Cleur - Deng - Ryan - Gersbach Baccus - Duncan Buhagiar - Genreau - Piscopo Toure

So many attackers but little defenders, this is a concern if injuries come into play.
Also creativity will need to come from Genreau, Najjarine, Piscopo and Italiano, I feel they could have also used Panos or Silvera as well.
D'Agostino is a baffling one, he's barely played for the Glory this season and Buhagiar is another who hasn't featured in awhile, this tells me these are Arnie's personal choices that he feel he might need to have.
Let's hope it's enough for us to qualify for Tokyo.
Glover
Cleur Deng Ryan Gersbach
Baccus Metcalfe
Najjarine Bouman Piscopo
Folami

Would be interested to know how our players stack up against the opposition in regards to minutes played, has this improved? I feel this will be crucial.

Young Socceroos squad announced for a ID camp and games in the Netherlands against the likes of FC Utrecht, Ajax and FC Twente's u19 sides this month. A lot of new names, as well some of the players that featured for the Joeys World Cup squad and some of the Young Socceroos from last year as well. https://www.socceroos.com.au/news/young-socceroos-selection-set-netherlands-camp

Pretty good when you consider about 6 or so quality names missing like Teague, Perkins, Botic, Hammond, tilio, abdulahi, calderbank Park, Roberts etc etc.

So who the hell is now excited to see Toure play in the AFC under 16 championship in Bahrain in sept? Would love to see him against other young kids his age to see just how big he is in comparison.

Key is how He goes in 3-4 years time. John Roberts boss the little 16 year olds too and he is where now?

The question is, how much top 04 / 05 talent there is?
Toure, Oliveira, Rawlins, who else? chipperfield a slim chance.

What about the youngest of the Toure brothers (don’t know his name) but he represented SA in the u/14s last year (according to post on other thread). Wonder if he will get a look in for the joeys.

+xYeah, but the 04/05 boys play games for the next 8 months in prep for afc u16s. Not sure what you want me to say there. Of course the boys who are eligible will be playing NPL in between now and then. There are always options, and players who will undoubtedly sprout out of nowhere like Toure. Like Sportaddict suggests Segecic and Lopane are apparently already class, Adem Duratovic from Victory is also a classy striker. All of this is just speculation, and I don't think we really should be worried at this stage about what individual 04/05 talent is coming through at the moment. Lets not forget that Toure is potentially a one of a kind.

What’s the youngest Toure brother’s name?
Does he play striker like Al Hassan and Mohammad or somewhere else?
