Whats the story here?
Where do you find this info?

It gets emailed to me by Matt Rossi as one of the unsuccessful Membership Committee applicants - we get kept in the loop :D

Hang on GA im confused....

Is the "Membership Committee" you mention above the same as the "Adelaide United Football Club Committee" mentioned in the membership pack?

Exactly what I was thinking. If not what's the relationship?

I would also like to know this

I get the feeling they set up some "football club committee" out of thin air to give us new "members" something to feel like we're a part of

I guess it worked

No relationship. Membership Committee is the thing that Steve (Jessesdad) is on and discusses supporter issues and the Adelaide United Football Club Committee is (from my understanding) the steering committee for the club (the step down from the board).

The thing about football - the important thing about football - is its not just about football.

Okay. Thanks for that. I personally though don't see a difference between Members and Supporters. I think there's a bit of redundancy there. Maybe that's just me

The details have been released on the club website anyway, so it's not a big secret. The committee is not the membership committee, but the club management committee which reports directly to the board instead of through a club liason. Since only three members can be on this committee, you would assume the others would be appointed by the board to put a cap on any wild ideas that people might have in regards to the direction of the club - kind of like how the SA AFL teams have half their board members appointed by the SANFL and half by either the club (in the case of the Crows) or by the members (in the case of Port).

In other words, the people appointed to this position would have to have the interests of the club at heart and not so much the fans, which is a subtle but real difference between the membership committee and this one.

Have they? other than the press release? I can't seem to find them. Probably just me. Do you have a link at all?

They should change the name of the "Membership Committee" to "Supporter Committee" given that members don't really have a vote in this, but rather in the AUFC Committee :d

Anyways out of curiosity, you mentioned "unsuccessful applicants" for the Adelaide United Football Club Committee". Does this mean that the first 3 applicants will be selected by the AUFC board, and then subsequent ones will be selected by AUFC members?

Just tried to call the club to find out what i was going to be posted and what im now spose to pick up

The phones are jammed, was on hold for so long I gave up

The free tix have to be collected from sept 5th on a first come best dressed basis they say so i assume the posted items were just the keyring and sticker and maybe a brochure etc

Might be be able to go for a cruise at lunch if they are available to be picked up, bit of Black Sabbath cranked on a nice day driving to Hindmarsh sounds good to me for lunch

Looks like lunchtime is going to be a busy time at Manton Street! Will go get my tickets for the games - did you hear that Fox is seriously considering broadcasting our friendly with MVFC?

Just spoke to Matt Rossi at Au and he said what Im picking up is the tickets and key ring etc but thats all happening from Monday the 5th so no lunch time drive to Hindmarsh today for me..

I also asked him if i could swap my tickets for some of the crap the reghional members got and he said no. I said i was only mucking around but he said "nah we had a feeling this would happen, its a new thing we're introducing and we'll take everyones feedback on board amnd can adjust things next year."

looks like no car hangy thing or mouse pad for me

Spewing that I was presumptious paying that pre season ticket now

Anyway Im a member and great to see they also have international membership. May have to take that up next season.

See you Sept 9th

Please be warned though about the free entry to games. I hope people read the disclaimer regarding that.(we could have everyone be a member but if they only have one stand open and people have bought tickets there will be people who will miss out on free entry to the preseason games. It may happen for the Gold Coast game but not the Melbourne game as they should open up the whole stadium.
