Anyone heard anything regarding Ersan Gulum contemplating changing allegiances back to Australia? He has been starting and playing full games at left back this season for Besiktas. Turkey doesn’t look much hope of getting to Brazil and we don’t look much hope of getting a LB to play in a quality league any time soon.

Excellent.
Hopefully this is the start of his return. Was so incredibly close to cracking the Socceroos before his injury.

I think it's time for Ruka to come back to the A-League. If he can work under a good manager and flourish (which we'd all hope and expect of him), he should be able to regain his confidence and head back to Europe again.

I wonder if there is any chance of Gallifuoco playing tonight.

I could not find anything on Europa league squad submissions and the tie is virtually over so I could see it even if it is very unlikely. He has been training with the first team which is a good start and looking at Spurs list if they are choosing 2 CDMs you have Sandro probably as he only played two minutes last weekend and needs match fitness. After that though then the other 3 best CDMs (Paulinho, Dembele, Capoue) all started so AVB might give it to a youngster. Last yeat you would have Huddelstone or Livermore but they are both gone. Carroll and Holtby are above Gallifuoco but they might be too attacking and if so Gallifuoco could be next in line.

Also does anyone know if he can play CB? I could see Kaboul playing with Vertonghen and Dawson rested and Chiriches isn't ready yet so there could be a youth player there.

From https://twitter.com/SpursOfficial

Quote:
Andre: 'We want to give a chance to a couple of the younger players. The most important thing is to ensure we are there for the group stage'

Now there has been nothing on this and it is a very small chance he will even make the bench but still being 5-0 up going into a home leg you are going to be confident and I like being optimistic on overseas Aussies. I doubt many expected Good to get a full game last night.

Can't stand this! Bench I'd be glad at least but not even in the squad as an option is terrible. He should find himself a Bundesliga 2, Dutch or Belgian club.

It's so frustrating!! I watch the majority of celtics games and constantly feel that they lack players with quality technique, touch and creativity. Only problem is whenever Tom plays he seems like he is too timid or doesn't look like he plays to their system, irrespective of opponent. He's definitely good enough to be playing with them or in champions league, it's infuriating he can't even get a good string of games

Tell me about it. For years now our Aussie players have had the piss taken out of them after signing at a new club. Leckie, Rogic, Holman etc made the move, had the manager make very positive comments, had articles written about their new 'star' only to see them given a handful of games and be nearly forgotten.

I'm glad players like Holland, Bozanic and hopefully Vidosic are at clubs that seem to appreciate the talent and work ethic our players offer.

Vidosic in his new kit. First training session today

http://www.lematin.ch/sports/football/dario-vidosic-fc-sion-c-desormais-officiel/story/15030015

Halloran scored in a Dusseldorf friendly and scored but there were only about 3 1st team regulars playing and it was mostly the first team bench + some reserves it seems. It was also against a 5th division side so won't be seen as that great but I am guessing it was the first team manager so if he played well it will help a bit.

http://www.rp-online.de/sport/fussball/vereine/fortuna/erwin-hoffer-trifft-bei-debuet-fuer-fortuna-1.3635881

Mainz is trying to get rid of Ruka but there are no rumours on where he will go, suggestions of loan move.

http://www.allgemeine-zeitung.de/sport/top-clubs/mainz-05/13391876.htm

Quote:
Nikita Rukavytsya : For the attacker to offset the amateurs there are loose inquiries from the second division and abroad. Bilberry offers Australians (as well as Fathi) not to, but says: "I would wish him that he finds a club. He is a great guy and eager to play in the World Cup for Australia. "For as soon as possible but he needs match practice. Trend: Rukavytsya is lent for one year.

Wilko played another full game for Jeonbuk in their 1-1 draw against FC Seoul. A decent game by him, didn't make too many mistakes. (Only one, iirc, he misread a cross which led him to head the ball in a weird direction.)

I wonder if Holger and Aurelio will be "scouting" the match. Someone should tell them it's on.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Only managed to see the first half of the Vienna match. Zagreb were all over them, Holland didn't really stand out but did OK.

I thought that was a Simunic own goal on 4'. Pretty funny considering...

Federici needs to make a move before the transfer deadline. Shame to see him warm the pine, he could easily be number one at a Championship club or number one in another decent European league.

Problem is that he signed a long term deal (5 years, I believe) when the club was promoted to the EPL, and I am quite sure he would be the top or close to top earner at the club. Reading wouldn't be willing to pay him out and he probably isn't willing to take a huge wage cut to get first team action.

I think the band aid solution for all parties is a season-long loan to an overseas club to cover all/most/some of his wages.

Anyone know what the odds of Davidson being a regular in Heracles starting XI for the rest of the season are? A couple of times he has pulled 3 or 4 full games together and then been out of the squad alltogether

He was put in the squad from another player being dropped and not an injury so should stay in if he stays in form.

In their first two games without him they conceded 3 both games vs Vitese (8th) and PEC Zwolle (1st) and lost both 3-1. Since he has come in they have won 4-2 vs Heerenveen and drew 1-1 vs PSV (2nd) which were the first points PSV have dropped. He could have done better for PSV's goal though.

So results have improved since he came in so I would say there is a good chance of him staying in for the time being but there is competition from Christian Dorda a 24 year old German.

Whoscored.com has averaged his rating (whoscored does ratings on stats only) at 6.97 compared to Dorda's 6.31. Davidson seems to be better going forward than Dorda and his best attribute for him staying in over Dorda is his 79.6 (39/49) pass accuracy compared to 65.2 (43/66).

Thanks for that looks to be doing well fingers crossed he can keep his form up.
Thanks Moofa, good stuff.

a year and a half ago Federici was having a great season in the champions and I thought we will have two keepers playing regularly in the EPL, 2012/2013 could be the year that he catches up to Schwarzer and then he could be ahead at for the 13/14. I was guessing he might be our top keeper for Brazil. Now he is unlikely to make the squad. What happened?

you nearly fucked up there nearly celebrating 4 minutes in. did you watch the game? if so how did Holland look?

Federici conceded 6 to a league 1 side so don't expect to see him much this season.
