When Victoria had a bush fires a few years back, we hosted Adelaide soon after and you guys were very respectful and considerate to our situation.

I want to return that consideration and hope that any of you who might be affected or know people who are affected some hope and good fortune at the end of this. I think it is great that the states and people seem to have learnt something from our fires, that no one had died so far and people seemed to be very well prepared this year.

Hey guys! I'm getting an up-to-date list of the player contracts for all HAL teams. I was wondering if you could run your eye over the below, and tell me if I have left anyone out, if anyone in the list has left, if a player is/isn't a marquee/foreigner and I haven't listed it appropriately, or if any of the contract lengths are off? What new players should the club bring in?

Someone on WATR suggested Alex Wilkinson to replace Nigel Boogaard when he leaves at the end of the season as his contract with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors expires at the end of the 14/15 season.

A recurring theme of Adelaide's 2014/15 campaign has been creating chance after chance and then fucking it all up due to a lack of of a quality striker, so Gomby should try and find one in the off season.

I would be happy with Wilkinson, but if/when he returns to the A-League I can't see him going anywhere but CCM. Palanca has shown nothing, so we need a replacement there (unless Gombau gives him another chance, but he's looking like another Slory). We desperately need someone to cover Carrusca for when he's out, seriously, we crumble without that guy. And as you said, a more clinical striker. Pablo Sanchez is starting to grow on me and has shown glimpses, but he's a poacher style of forward, not what I think we need - we need a better version of Bruce.

Yeah, not sure how Adelaide can convince Wilkinson to join an A-League club that isn't CCM, but they need an experienced defender to replace Nigel.

Finding someone who can bring what Carrusca does to the team for when he's injured will be impossible, but I agree. Adelaide are shit without him.

Pablo Sanchez has been a pleasant surprise and is a solid player, hopefully Adelaide can convince him to stay and share his spot on the right wing with Mabil. It isn't the end of the world if he goes. I'd prefer a pacey target man as striker, though.

Also, I'm not too convinced by Gombau's decision to change Adelaide's style of play for results in these last few games. Obviously, a team is most comfortable playing a style they are familiar with and as we've seen in the past two games, they are anything but comfortable playing the way they are right now.

What about Robbie Cornthwaite? Isn't he at some Malaysian club now?

Anyone think that Palanca would be a lot better in the middle? His touch (particularly his first touch) is brilliant but he lacks the physical ability and positivity to play out wide IMO. Keep in mind Carrusca was a winger before he came here, if Chelo and Awer are still injured this weekend I say put Cirio on the wing and Palanca at number 10.

the subtle change in style is surely a direct result of having no speed on the wings (Mabil injured, Palanca gamble did not pay off, released Ferriera and Cirio has been forced to play in the midfield). Plus losing Malik, Boogers Elrich and Carussca for large parts of the last month has surely forced gombaus hand.

SBS has mentioned we enquired about Mitch Nichols, never really been a fan of him but you can't really find many better aussie players on Aleague wages who can play in a creative role in midfield.

Would be surprised if Cerezo Osaka would approve that loan as I think it would restrict them from loaning him out further during J League season if he plays at all for them ( can't play for more than 3 teams in same season)

Oh well. If Adelaide really need midfielders, the same person on WATR suggested Oliver Bozanic, who's out contract at the end of the season.

I'd prefer Wilko, but it'd be difficult to convince him to play for anyone other than the Mariners.

Still, an experienced defender and a lethal striker are musts for 2015/16.

Any rumours of a new player or two? Any at all? I don't care if they're as bullshit as your childhood friend's claims that his dad worked for Nintendo, we need some new players.

Stuckey from WATR said he heard some (likely false) rumours that Josh Risdon could be coming to Adelaide and the club is also interested in Mitch Nichols and Rafa Jimenez.

Read about the Nichols claim as soon as he was released by Perth, apparently we were one of 3 or 4 other A-League clubs inquiring about him. First I've heard about Risdon - good player but do we need him? Elrich, Marrone, Goodwin and Malik are all capable of playing the wide fullback roles. Jimenez is one out of nowhere imo - surely just a loan deal for him to get senior game time I would assume? With both Pablo Sanchez and Palanca off contract at the end of the season, we have a couple of foreign spots open again to us (as well as another normal spot with the expected departure of Watson). I think we need the following:

- More clinical forward either to replace Bruce (unlikely given his contract extension), or to play off him. Pablo Sanchez could be the player we need, I still get the feeling we haven't seen his best yet.
- Depth in midfield to cover Carrusca/Isaias and make Jeggo work for his spot. Watson isn't good enough.
- New CB to replace Nigel. McGowan and Elsey can provide cover but unless one of them really steps up, then we won't have a good enough CB pairing to really challenge imo. Elsey will still take a little while longer to get up to speed again after his knee reco anyway.
