I believe they are genuine in their interest and desire for it, as I gladly acknowledge there are a lot of people who have and are putting effort into it.

I am happy to wait for as long as it takes to get it moving.

To me, this is not something to beat up on the owners about.

Action trumps “interest and desire” of which we’ve seen none of yet.

How easy is it to build a 15,000 boutique stadium do you think? You don’t decide on Monday you’d like one and start work Friday that’s for sure ...

I agree they need to be judged on action not words but at the same time random posters asking one month to the next “what’s the progress” is pointless as clearly the timelines are not that short.

If you notice the on-line article has changed its title now. It’s complete fabrication.

Haha, even the opening paragraph has toned it down.

Yeah, suspect Marco went over the top and got it wrong and someone’s done some #factchecking 😂

but it’s typical of the reporting football gets in this country and especially in Brisbane.

A-League: Suncorp Stadium will fight Brisbane Roar’s bid to move to Redcliffe

Suncorp Stadium general manager Alan Graham wants Brisbane Roar to honour their venue contract despite the club planning to move all their home matches to Redcliffe.

Having already switched their training base to the Gold Coast, the Roar will very much be Brisbane only in name if they abandon their long-time home ground to play at Dolphin Stadium, which is situated in the Moreton Bay region.

Roar fans are divided over the financially motivated move. While the atmosphere at the 11,500-capacity Dolphin Stadium is far better than the feel of a Roar-sized small crowd at the 52,500-seat Suncorp Stadium, the 50-minute drive from the Brisbane CBD to the Redcliffe ground is a major turn-off.

Suncorp Stadium has been the Roar’s home ground since the A-League’s inception in 2005 and the venue for the club’s three grand final wins in 2011, 2012 and 2014.

Graham said he was having ongoing talks with Roar CEO David Pourre to resolve the situation and hoped the club would honour its Suncorp Stadium contract, which has at least another year to run.

“We’d be very happy to still have the Roar here,” Graham said.

“Hopefully, we can work out something that works for everyone, but we’ll keep our discussions with the Roar out of the public domain.”

Plans for the Roar to play out of Suncorp Stadium – also the home of rugby league’s Brisbane Broncos and rugby union’s Queensland Reds – remain on the table, with Graham having given Football Federation Australia ground availability dates for the new season, which runs from December to June.

Former Roar captain Matt Smith, who led the club to two of their three championships, said Suncorp Stadium would always hold a special place in his heart.

“I can only talk about the experiences and history I have playing for Brisbane, and we had some grand occasions at Suncorp Stadium … it’s one of the best football stadiums in the country,” Smith said.

“I haven’t been out to Dolphin Stadium as yet. From what I hear it’s a nice boutique stadium.

“Being the only club in Queensland, I think it’s important the Roar represent Queensland.

“I understand being inside the city (of Brisbane) or outside the city is a delicate situation, but I think Brisbane Roar will always have an association with Brisbane, especially being the only Queensland club as well.”

If a new boutique stadium in Brisbane is eventually built, the Roar’s potential move to Redcliffe – where they played two games last season – would only be temporary.

In conjunction with Football Queensland, the Roar is pushing for state government funding to build a 15,000-seat stadium at Perry Park, Albion Park or Chandler’s Sleeman Sports Complex

No it’s not pointless. Members do NOT constitute all of Roars supporters, in fact are a minority. So it seems fit the club provides public updates to inform the majority of its supporters and for the good of positive publicity to the public. It has far from done that.

They have given three public updates since they announced the intent, including one this week.

The clubs strategy is very clear - to refurbish an existing stadium and re-purpose it for football, that will require political support.

They have also secured FQ’s support and aligned their interests with those of the wider football community. That’s smart.

I guess on the surface it shouldn't make any difference. If I recall, FQ are lobbying for their stadium on the back of the Womens World Cup momentum with the obvious option once constructed to enter into a commercial arrangement with BR to lease or hire the facility for games.
There was certainly no mention publicly of funding for a stadium from either major party and I would assume FQ will continue lobbying the ALP for this project. That is one of Cavallucci's strengths.

It is. And despite the initial controversy Cavalluchi is doing a great job imo.

But Cav would have found LNP an easy lobby for obvious reasons.

Well it doesn’t stop me from going to the resorts and whilst it is a disastrous result it means little as neither party have done football any significant favours. On the other hand the club should at least provide updates even if there are no changes to the circumstances. That’s just good PR unless it’s all hot air.

Thanks but I prefer the club makes them public so we can all be in informed. But if they already have done so I haven’t seen any except for the first one several months ago. If there’s been one this week, as you indicated, just need a link as mentioned earlier. I hope there is some detail and not just a passing comment. Not trying to be difficult, just genuinely interested as I know many others are as well.

Hmmm, not my favourite player but has had patches of decent football.
Could we play:
9 - Mcdonald
10 - Troisi
8 - O’Shea
note - O’Shea has had as many clubs as Troisi in the past 5 years.

I have never liked Troisi - maybe it is simply because of Victory - but I have never seen Troisi under Moon's coaching.

I would like to think that the skill Troisi possesses may yet be consistently unlocked and applied with somebody's guidance. Hopefully Moon could do that - especially having been proven as a coach where you can't just buy a winning team and have to work with what you've got to some extent (unless NPL is not like that at all).

Do not like him, but would be prepared to let him prove himself in orange if it came to it.

I'm not knocking Moon's coaching (he was very good at NPL level), but I think the Lions squads he had were probably in the top 2 or 3 best paid teams in the comp (if not the best paid).  So maybe some of the results were a little flattering.  We will see what he's made of now that he's in charge.

Troisi is undoubtedly a good player - but he comes across as a twat and maybe not the best team player the Roar could bring in.

Thanks for the info on Lions. Maybe more big fish in little ponds in the NPL than I had realised then. I always thought there would be a few quality ring-ins then a lot of 'best of the local talent' for the rest of the team in the NPL.

Good point about Moon. Being so much less in public profile than Robbie, and coming with coaching experience, it is easy to forget he is still largely untested in these waters. How he gets the team performing and what he changes from the Fowler dynasty has my interest. First glimpses likely against Easts in the next week.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.
