+xCongratulations to the Australian selectors re Joe Burns. You got exactly what you selected. Well done Him and this Cam Green fellow.... At some point they just need to bite the bullet and pick the in-form BBL players (Maxwell, Stoinis)

I'm telling you .... make the penalty for incorrect DRS result, half the players match fees.
You'll get rid of the stupid reviews quick smart

At some point they just need to bite the bullet and pick the in-form BBL players (Maxwell, Stoinis) What I have seen of Green so far, he looks like a decent prospect. The only question is playing a young guy in a crucial series with a makeshift batting line up. Our real problem is opening, Burns should never have been picked, Wade should be batting lower, but has done a decent job. BBL form doesn't translate to tests it is poor preparation. BBL is batsman friendly hit and giggle, it is a test of hitting ability, nothing else. There are no shield games so no ability to gauge the ability of players in 4 day cricket. The way the season is set up, preparation is down to individual players, selection is a roll of the dice. Mostly trusting players that did the job last series. Our bowlers have aimed up. Fielding and battling looks rusty, Paine is a good keeper and batsman but an ordinary captain. The team could come good at anytime, replacements are a lottery. I don't remember the last time I saw a shield score.

Last shield game was 8th of November. Next one is 21st Feb. No help at all with tests. The standard of our test side will be hard to maintain with this shield set up. Cricket Australia and the players are chasing money rather than test wins.

Cricket Australia and the players are chasing money rather than test wins. The Sheffield Shield suffers because of the advent of limited overs cricket crowding it out of the season. Cricket was best served when the shield was spread over the season and the test players all played. This meant that the players were exposed to the best players which helped prepare them for the next level. Indeed I can remember NSW Vs Victoria starting on boxing Day. I know we will never go back to those days as the money from limited overs cricket is all that's keeping test cricket going.

Got the result we deserved in the cricket.
Bowling very good, sloppy catching.
Decided to bat when the pitch was at it's worst.
Batting looked easy most of the time for Green and Cummins, unfortunately by that time most of our batting was out.
Green looks composed, patient and has good technique with the bat. Bowling looks ok, but he needs to take wickets or carve out a role as a containing bowler.
Our batting is the weakest I can remember for a while, the side is very dependent on Warner and Smith. I would like to see us find an opener who bats a bit like Green at patient and composed front foot player with good technique and a more traditional method. We need players who can soak up a lot of balls and are hard to get out. Drop Wade down the order we have plenty of players who can whack a ball. That is no good if they don't last many balls.

The player you are looking for is Matt Renshaw. He can absorb balls or leave them all day long. It's good if you want to just bore everyone to death, but at some stage, a match needs to be won and you need to score some runs and not look for the draw. If you want that type of play.... win the toss and bowl. That way you can see what the opposition can score in their first innings and then ensure you outscore them.

Not advocating his selection but Renshaw's runs per 100 balls in shield this season is greater than Head, Green and Harris. Maybe his shot making has developed.

Don't want to bring up an old subject but what happened to Tevita Pangai's allegations of third party payment breaches. We were promised a thorough investigation, but after the threat of his contract being torn up was followed by a kiss and make up with the Broncos it seems to have died a natural death

So it had to be carpeted.

+xJoe Burns dropped from the test team. At least 1 good knock for the summer, it's the rest that.... It was the only innings where he didn’t have any game pressure unfortunately... IWarner and Puc to open, with Wade to take Heads spot in the batting line up... Green has shown more than enough to hold his spot as a true all rounder...
In other news Pakistan losing despite knowing how many to score in the 4th innings... they mustn’t have wanted to win...

They rang Marki for advice, he said make sure Tolman doesn't get the ball in the opposition 20. Green is worth persisting with. 2 proper in form openers will solve most of our batting problems. Head is a bit disappointing, he has talent, but a real knack of keeping the slips fielders interested.

That’s the way I’d go, got a bit of longevity potential about it for now and The Ashes next year. But I don’t think they will, they’ll give Head every chance to get out the same way again so I think the only change will be Warner for Burns. But of course the wildcard is IF Warner is fit.

Head seems to have too many ways of getting out regularly... and getting out when he is set...would be interesting to see the breakdown of his dismissals... The most confusing thing was when Paine spoke with Mocki, the great one suggested Paine kick off if he wins the toss... And if they lead by 20 at half time enforce the follow on...

So once again we’ll be putting on fireworks that will look just the same as last year in a city and country that usually has a fire danger on this day and nobody will remember a minute of it this time tomorrow.
Meanwhlie most of Asia, and even boring f***in’ Edinburgh, will be putting on drone and laser displays that will amaze and delight the world.
Sydney, you are no longer the capital of NYE, in fact you’re a backwards slum. Get your act together, stick a fork in fireworks and move into the 21st century.

A very big Happy 2021 to all the BDP posters.... Like most Dogs supporters, we should definitely see some uplift in both the type of footy we play & results.... but no doubt there’ll be some hit n misses which we’ll have to be a little more patient until T Baz gets it all right.
A couple of predictions for 2021
* Aston Villa will finish 9th, even 10th would be a damn good result after what the club went thru last season with avoiding relegation on the last day
* Bulldogs will finish 8th, yes 8th!!
