Man City looking to cut short Arzani’s Utrecht loan due to lack of game time, and loan him out somewhere else for the next 5 months instead:

https://utrechtfans.nl/hoofdnieuws/arzani-verlaat-fc-utrecht-en-keert-terug-naar-manchester-city/amp#click=https://t.co/UyHVDLMZAN

Melbourne City perhaps, with Nabbout out for a while?

Jets, Adelaide and Brisbane are probably the three clubs that most need a winger so I hope he goes to one of those clubs.

Manchester city have him so he’ll most likely come back to city to replace nabbout/tillo

Why would City offload one of those players though, especially as they only arrived a few months ago?

Even if Arzani was signed as an injury replacement, he won’t be able to play again as soon as Nabbout gets fit again in a few weeks.

Caceres went on loan to Sydney too before they signed him permanently so I wouldn’t be surprised if they loaned him to another AL club.

Whilst I agree something may not be right with (perhaps an attitude at training or something) Utrecht are in the top flight.

He needs to sort himself out asap because it seems like precious time he is wasting.

Some players make excellent recoveries from an acl, some are never the same. He might be in the latter. It's been a fair while now since he did it and the signs aren't promising. I'm no expert but I think acceleration and agility suffer most. On the other hand, Celtic and Utrecht are good sides and maybe he just can't make that transition from hyped youngster. Wouldn't be the first.

Should ask to be released. He needs to go somewhere where people will actually want to develop him no team in current climate is going to bring a player in and play them if they don't own them.

He has 6 months left on his deal. Get a release and actually find a club that wants to develop him. He's made plenty of money not playing the last 3 years.. money should not be the factor right now if he is serious about becoming an established professional footballer. Can seem to study for hours on end, but from what I've heard he trains very poorly... in Europe they wont even bother with you... you need to be training the fucking house down as an Aussie.

For a start, FC Utrecht are in the top flight. Also, the article does mention that club had held onto Gyrano Kerk who Arzani couldn't overtake in the pecking order. Not sure if FC Utrecht were thinking they might lose this other winger and Arzani was brought in as a back up... but it's obviously worked out to not be the ideal option.

Thing is, he just needs game time, perhaps a stint in the A-League will get that confidence back.

Maybe they should send him to NYCFC. Been a few decent City assets to spend time there. Angelino now at Leipzig and Herrera now at Granada come to mind.

also Jack Harrison at Leeds got his professional start at NYCFC.

he's probably getting supported better as a CFG loanee than he would out on his own. it's in their interest to find him a club where he will get played.  i'd rather have CFG getting me through this than trusting an agent or something.

Oooooh, bordering on a "Libel-esque" like comment that one. It's really hard to tell either way because there's bugger all vision or information of his progress in the match reports... or extremely hard to access anyway.

Not sure if anyone who reads Dutch and has a keen interest in Arzani can be bothered to research the FC Utrecht supporter forums.

I'm still willing to believe injury (a major one), shit managers, and a lack of game time have all played a part, not ability.

This is exactly the reason I’d like him to return to the A-League for any club. Purely so we will all be able to watch him week in week out and make a true assessment of his current ability, as you are absolutely right, most of us haven’t seen him play since the 2018 World Cup.

Its a shame isn't? Once touted as the next big thing in Aus football and fair enough too given how he got into the World Cup squad via he's aleague form and probably was the Socceroos most dangerous attacking player we got during those games.

It just shows how quickly things can change in football, once you feel your on top of the world the next you are back down to the basement trying to get out.

Clearly the ACL injury didnt help but I do have to wonder what if he made a better move after the World Cup? Its catch 22 but he could have joined JVS at PEC Zwolle who knew him from Melbourne City or could have joined a club where they would have played younger players like him, clearly the Celtic move was a step too far?

And FC Utrecht where it seemed it looked like a great move to play but it hasn't eventuated like how we wanted.

To be fair he's still young at 22 years old but like the previous wonder kids who have been hyped up like Patafta, De Silva, Nathan Burns etc I think you can all but end the hype train for this lad. (But I hope im wrong and he gets back to where we knew he can become but ill remain doubtful from now on in what he can achieve at a higher level).

It also just shows never rely on 1 or 2 players to take us to the promise land of football, its almost unsustainable and the risk is what we have witnessed with anyone who was destined as the next great hope that I could fall over very quickly.
Build a generation of players and not one you can rely on as this has reflected on the dysfunctional youth system which has been in place for almost 15 years.

Some return from ACLs good, others don’t. Arzani clearly hasn’t as his talent mid 2018 was obvious. Still think he can be an above average ALeague player, but that’s probably it.

With the Olympics coming up. He needs to get game time and match fit if he wants to be a big part of that team and put him self in the shop window. Leaving Utrecht is probably the right move. But where to next? He could do a lot worse than coming back to the A league if he really wants an Olyroo spot. Lots of contenders putting there hand up right now.

Not pleased at all, dissapointed really that a half promising player f#cked his career up (and any chance of being any good for the Socceroos) by letting his moron of a manager sign him on to be one of the thousands of warehoused players for the CFG.... Dont know if you're his dad, or brother or boyfriend or just a fan and I dont care.. you have to realize its not personal mate, he is a player like all the thousands of others. He has some natural talent but like thousands before him and thousands after he got the wrong advice and got injured at the wrong time....  Nice clown btw,  do you have a special fetish or something?

A return worked wonders for Ikon until disaster struck. It's certainly more the injury than skill. His confidence would be down. I'd prefer young Australians to try for the A League instead. Risdon and Grant have turned into very good players. Imagine Gersbach with 4 full A League seasons now. He be better than where he is now but to what extent?

22 is not seen as young in any other country (other than aus). Especially in Europe. So it could be teams are expecting more from him given his age, but his limited play time has stagnated this development compared to his peers.

A loan to Girona may help, but i am assuming that City want to loan him to a club with the option to buy in order to make some money back. The Nordic leagues may be a good option for him
