+xImagine... The Cheese, the Fox and Burton in our 17 next year... Hang on, Dr Marki has spent the cap on Dietz...😂 Lol. But seriously that is likely. Add Tapau or another fast prop and we are in the finals

I’m very excited about Burton. I’m calling it early. He will be a better signing fir us than Terry Lamb.

Though speaking about comparison with Terry Lamb, I would only rate Burton in that category if on top of everything he has shown so far, is when one of our players breaks the line and pops out an offload he is there to collect it and sail towards the opposition goal line.

I think we need someone who can break the opposition defensive line and have the ability to pop out an offload first.

Rubbish. These 2 will be the next big things in rugby league. I'm hardly ever wrong. Even when I'm remotely wrong I'm still correct to some degree.

+xI think we need someone who can break the opposition defensive line and have the ability to pop out an offload first. That's another one of our current problems. We cant make breaks. Either through speed, creative plays or breaking tackles....we must be last in the category of making breaks. I'm hoping next year JAC, Cotric and Meaney can fix the speed issue while Burton, Flanagan and Dietz to fix the creative play issue But I'm worried we dont have enough damaging forwards that can break tackles or offload to solve the last part. Guys like Kikau, Fifita, Talmalolo, Papalli etc are the types I'm thinking....

Different type of player. Burton will add a lot to our kicking game, has a good running game and is a good defender. He needs more experience and consistency in his passing game. Like breakers for us in 2022 are the Fox, Cotric and Averillo. The coach has to fit Averillo and Burton in side. We also have a young gun centre Alamoti and Schoupp can break tackles. The Cheese, Elliott, Doorey and Tompson can make an impact running the ball. We are also in the mix for a highly rated backrower from the Broncs. If the Cheese and that young backrower come, it is down to one recruitment priority, prop and we can let a lot of plodders go. I don't have a name for the prop and or know if we are after 1 or 2. But looking at the rest of the squad, the prop knows we aren't in the comp to make up the numbers.

I just don't get the idea that some people think that if we "buy" this player and "buy" that player we will end up with a gun team. For decades I have been watching a variety of teams trying to "buy" a premiership winning squad, and a vast majority of times it just doesn't work. I have seen origin quality players chase the money and land themselves in a side that doesn't suit them and they go like a busted ar$e. On the flip side I have seen a Johnny Average change teams and go from zero to hero. Though there are some teams that not only have the best players that money can buy, but they are also continually gifted with favourable conditions that ensure their success. Just sayin'.

The best players are the ones we develop through the grades. I want to keep Wakeham, Averillo, Amaroti, Schoupp Doorey, Topine, Atoni, Ellott, Okunbor in addition to any signings. The juniors and scouting was a mess under Des, but we have some good young players coming through now. The best approach is a mix but we will get good results with 50% of the team home grown. I would like it to be more. But we don't have good young kids ready for some key positions.

Yes Marki sometimes you get lucky. And hd I agree, you take the best of the homegrown and mix them in with the imports and it creates a nice balance. The reason why the local juniors go so well is they have played most of their junior footy together and they know each others game.

Did Dr Marki tip the Roosters?
Perhaps we all need to be reminded how great they are?
Maria Hargraves is having a real hissy fit.

Watching Latrell play tonight and the other games this year really annoys me. We decided to pull out of the race to sign him because apparently we thought he was a centre not a fullback. He just might win the Dally M medal for fullback of the year. It shows why you sign the best whenever possible.
Brandon Smith needs to be signed. Yes he is a better middle than a hooker currently. But he has the potential to still be one of the best hookers in the game.

I'm not sure the term "local juniors" means a lot in the modern game. It's more recruited and developed.

In a top side... with one of the best man managers ever... You could tell he was in for a big year with the attitude he brought to the all stars game... I just don’t know if we’d have got the best out of him with our squad and coach...

But being Latrell, it won't be long before something triggers and he loses form again.
