Aaaand... He was never leaving then and hes not leaving now... On too good a wicket getting paid a fortune to be a flat tracker...

They should all wait and see if I get the coaching gig.

Training down the pub is fun.

If I don't get it, then any decent player should leave unless they are happy to lose each week.

Moses isn't even named for Parra this week.

Brooks is 29 and they are probably a similar age.

Signing a player with recent injuries, you never know how it will go. Seemed like Foran was barely on the field for us.

O'Neill is probably only around 20 years old, so if he plays NRL next season might be a half for us for 10-15 years.

If Moses signs O'Neill leaves most of the time.

Moses might have a 5 year window if injury free.

At the backend of a players career limitations from the start of their career emerge.

Moses 1-2 years with Parra paying most of his salary after we have locked up O'Neill.

Team named Farmer out and Salmon back in starting in the second row.

I thought Farmer was good against the Raiders.

I am not sure if we can thread the needle on wins with a smaller pack, but beating the Dragons is all about keeping the error rate low enough and taking our chances.

Anyway the side named on Tuesday isn't final.

That’s what is always worrying about juniors. So many that don’t make it. The good thing is that we have plenty of good young halves.

But I like your thinking. Moses would be a perfect fit for Burton. Great halves pairing. We should try to get him if there is a chance.

If you have Moses at half, you can get away with either Burton or Hutch at 5/8th.

Burton makes more sense as he is faster and has better kicks behind the line, but he cant put players through with a deft pass and doesnt run.

Come to think of it, if we get Moses, id be praying for Oloapu to make a comeback and take the 5/8th role, this time with less pressure on him.

I dont know much about our young kids. Heard lots of good things, but same was said of Wakeham, BBO etc so not falling for it again.

Let me guess, to partner Hutch in the halves....

My plan is for Moses to stay at Parra and play prop for 80 mins.

Damn I was going to throw my hat into the ring.

All training will be at the pub with all drinks included, but coaches drink at a better class of pub.

Ball work, tackle practice, and gym training would be banned.

And I finally get to try some of my funky team selections on a real team.

Each presser - of course we lost we are a crap team.

Crap club... I'll take the media role...

Mock can be the recruitment guru and we'll retain Mutch Misses and recruit 15 fullbacks and Crutch at 6...

Doesn't make me feel better about our loss... But I absolutely delight in theirs...

Massive game this week... As most weeks... But this week has a bit of a do or die feeling for me...

I'd like to keep them to 0... Seeing RFM or Flange score will be the stuff of nightmares...

I think Canberra are a much better side.

But big teams fresh off a bye in wet conditions with us on a short turn around after an intense game might make it harder than it should be.

But I am expecting a win and we need it.

Not the end of the season if we lose, but that points to a need to tweak things a bit.

I am worried that Madge is a smart evidence based coach and that will result in more dogs players being selected for SOO.

I don't know how some people in other forums think we were playing 13 on 12 then 11 Fiday night.. The Dogs were only playing with 12 men for thr entire second hslf. Kiks was in la-la land and should never have come back on, he was a passenger and a costly one at that.

I agree on Kiks.

IMO if we beat the Dragons keep the same team.

Otherwise.  1. Tracey 6. Burton 7 Sexton 13. Hutch.
Bench.  14 Hayward  ( Mann)
15. Sutton  / Todd (Morrin )
16. Curran  ( Hello Kitty / Hayes)
17.  Farmer /  Patolo / Fifita / Hopoi

18 Mann / Salmon

I think Hutch at 13 would give Sexton or any young half a lot of help, it would be like playing halfback on training-wheels, for half the game, if it works out.

If we lose to the Dragons an experiment that fails will not cost us.

If we think we are any chance of re'signing Sexton we need to see what he can offer.

What I think Sexton will offer is good support play and more variety and ball playing on the edge, especially on the back of good service from Hutch and Hayward.

In the 13 role Hutch will do 80% of what he does now but for only 50% of the game.

D was ordinary?
He also set up 2 tries from kicks!!!

Like HD said, of all players, he was the only one to hold his head high. The rest were error riddled.

You can carry 1 or 2 having bad games but we just had too many players last night.

Let's just hope they all played their bad game and bounce back for the next few games.

Burto sets up a try from a kick it's a lack of creativity...
Crutch does it well once, andgwts lucky another time and he's the next Turvey...
His general play kicking is trash...

I'm not worried about him bouncing off tackles with first contact... I'm worried about him not making the right decision in our red zone several times now and putting pressure on outside and inside men leading to tries...

Funny how our right looked better in attack last night and our left not as good with Burto spending more time on the right...

Youre not watching Bulldogs games if you think tries have run past him.

I dont know the stats but i dare say he has been the best defender in the team - hands down.

If he slips off a tackle in a group of 3, i dont count that as a missed tackle.

He (and Mahoney) shut down a certain try close to our short side with 3mins to go.

You must be smoking something dman...

Dman smoking something would not affect his footy viewing.

I understand why fans don’t rate Hutch,  he doesn't look flashy.

But fans should look at the results of his involvement.

I still think Hutch could play lock and that may be where he plays at the backend of his career,. He is an unusual player, Panthers had a 5/8 who had a big body, played with Brandy, that guy was similar. Or Jonny Sutton for Souths. Also similar to a dogs player who played a bit of 5/8  and lock. That wasn't unusual in the 70s and 80s.

Misses In D are a bit like dropped balls, different players in different games.

More concerning was that our defensive system was not as dominant against the Raiders as it  has been all season.

3  factors.

1. We turned up with the petrol tank half empty.

2. We struggled with the big boys in the slippery conditions,

3. Their young halves both had very good games.

In the context of the season next week is very important. Another big team fresh off the bye, motivated and needing a win.

The Dragons don't have the grit and defence of the Raiders.

The concerning thing for me is that we played a team that also didnt have a high IQ game-manager yet we still lost after having a handy lead and even when we fell behind, we still had 14 mins to win the game.

Against a team that has a DCE, Moses, Cleary, AR, Hunt, Hughes etc i can understand we get outsmarted.

But we out-dumbed ourselves.

We need to fix that. We need a high IQ halves player as the key ingredient in moving us into a top 4 team. Without one, we will just be hoping to scrape into finals as our best result.

I still think that we are a chance to make the 8, just a few things need tweaking and probably only in our forwards rotation.

That was the best game I can remember Hutch playing, 2 try assists,  2 line break assists and lots of other great passes that created time and space ok kicking in general play.

Regardless of what fans think we are not going to get  much more out of a halfback.  I would be very happy if he plays to that standard every week.

Burton was also OK, a bit of a mixed game but more good than bad.

After the high tackle Kiks seemed to have a bad day and  made lots of errors, including not throwing a pass to Fox who probably would have scored.

Why we lost was that the team made too many errors,  that has been a problem for a while it is something we need to work on.

The conditions suited the Raiders forwards and they dominated us, we still probably created enough opportunities to score.

We need to be better.

The comp is pretty even this year, in most games either team can win. I think taking teams like the Storm and Panthers down to the wire wasn't actually as convincing as we thought it was. Convincing is a tick in the win column.

There was a decent grubber or two...
But its ten weeks... A couple of TAs and a couple of good grubbers dont negate the volume of missed opportunities and tries run past him...

His kicking and much heralded D was ordinary... Again...

That said... A couple of simple errors, not Crutch cost us the game....
