exactly, de silva would be perfect for unlocking deep defences. He's also had a better season than Genreau

Genreau is adaptable in all midfield lines as a No.6, 8 and 10 spots and tactically astute player which is why he's highly rated by Arnie, heck he even took him for the u23 qualifiers when he had a problem with shoulder.

De Silva is only good as a No.10 but I dont he's level has been good enough in recent games to make the Socceroo or Olyroos squad.

I think people may be surprised at Hrustic's sharpness. He was solid every time he came off the bench and has had an intensive season of top level training.

I think we'll see Irvine deeper this window but Holland and Dougall are there too.

This is the window where hrustic steps up. The no 10 spot is his if he can. He is the heir to the playmaking throne in my opinion.

So no Tommy Deng or Zac Duncan in either Olyroos or Socceroos squads. Interesting.

You do wonder but I guess Duncan is still building up after that injury as is Deng.

I don't think he is a 10, more of a mezzala (floating 8)

@johnszaz

I always wonder why the guy who does the Wikipedia squad updates decides on his own definitions of player positions rather than going with the official Socceroos definitions that they post on their website and social pages.

E.g. Socceroos squad announcement lists Leckie as part of the forwards, but Wikipedia man decides he wants to make Leckie a midfielder instead.

Yeah something I've always found that inflates our midfield stock. Ikon and Leckie are wingers and that constitutes a very attacking position for me.

Genreau is a great player. DDS started the season on fire, but if you want to make the Olyroos squad you need to be outstanding for the whole season. I think Piscopo has been the standout u23 player this season, and wouldn't look out of place for the Socceroos

Why do we need so many 6's and 8's? So we are playing with 2 sitting midfielders? Where's the flair players? don't think anyone in the squad can actually dribble past a defender as least goodwin can do something skillful. We're going to have major issues breaking down defenses in my opinion.

Best part of this whole camp... the interview when they asked Arnie what he's been up to? literally nothing... didnt want to read pep's training books or something? maybe expand your knowledge? jesus christ.

Yea bloody arnie, why isn’t he reading more books. So selfish of him to not read books on how to win games of football.

‘Arnie hates victory players’
‘Why doesn’t arnie pick ruka and holland’
’arnie should read more books’

as for players who can dribble past players.
How about I list 3

1. Chris ikonomidis
2. Awer mabil
3. Martin boyle

I’d argue mcgree and arzani (who he picked for the olyroo’s) can as well but let’s leave it at that for now.

But yea arnie is such a tosser

I just have a really bad feeling, we're being very complacent here... Asian qualifying has never been easy, even when we had the golden gen...

We haven't played in a long time, lot of these other nations have been. A loss to Kuwait really puts pressure on us.

I just have a really bad feeling, we're being very complacent here... Asian qualifying has never been easy, even when we had the golden gen...

We haven't played in a long time, lot of these other nations have been. A loss to Kuwait really puts pressure on us.

I am wary about these matches too but I can’t see any complacency.
