There were a few Aussies in the Afghan team

Looking at their most recent squad, they called up just the one in Zelfy Nazary who plays for Dandenong Thunder.

Matthew Davies started for Malaysia a few days ago in a 4-0 loss to the UAE.

Former Jets players Abimanyu and Krasniqi both started for Indonesia and Malaysia with the former getting an assist.

Shame.

I was hoping he would be ours.

However, if he isnt deemed  good enough for Socceroo section, I wish him well with South Sudan.

Malta could have fielded an entire Aussie XI right now if allegiances had gone their way.

Gauci
Aquilina - Lia - D’Arrigo - Cavallo
Buhagiar - Irvine - Brimmer - Piscopo
D’Agostino - Maclaren

Wow!

Thanks for posting this, Bowden.

Maria was unappreciated at AU- a good player but often played in the wrong position.

I 100% agree with you.

Good player who wasn’t utilised effectively and unfortunately most of our fans turned on him rather than our shit coach.

He left the role and now Patrick Kluivert is in charge.

They played this morning and lost 2-1 to Panama. Maria started while Darryl Lachlan came off the bench.

Hiddink hasn’t left. Apparently he has (or recently had) covid, and Kluivert is filling in while he recovers. They’re expecting him back for the Gold Cup later in the year.

Dykes very close to scoring.

Should Football Australia be doing more to ensure we tie up players early on so we have a bigger pool to pick from?

There will always be some that slip the net.

We can’t play everyone that may choose another country just to have them just in case. We have quite a few already that we have actually committed to us, so it’s not all doom and gloom because a player chooses to go elsewhere.

Even though I don't like talking about him, Dykes would've been a Socceroo had Covid not happened - Armie apparently selected him to play in the WCQ'S , they obviously got cancelled early last year. Scotland was obviously playing still, so they beat us to him

FIFA have ruled that South Sudan have forfeited which is ridiculous.

Surely they could’ve postponed the match?
