Farking losing to America everywhere.
2024 will be interesting, USA will host 2028 so you’d expect them to top the medals there
anyone been watching the Sports Climbing? It’s pretty interesting

It’s pretty interesting Yeah I've been watching the climbing at night but because they don't explain what's going on I can't follow why or what they're trying to do. Speed climbing yes. Fastest wins. The other stuff, haven't a clue. Just watched a replay where the girl missed the world record by 0.01 seconds so presumably they're racing the same course everywhere they go?

My mate who's into sports climbing is livid with the coverage, he reckons they had a rugby commentator who had no idea how the sport worked. I told him he now knows how I feel as a football fan in Australia.

Bouldering is like a puzzle, you have to figure out how to get to the two zones, lead climbing is basically who can get furthest to the top. Don’t ask me about the scoring, because there’s only 1 medal they’ve had to combine all the scores which is messy. Next Olympics they’re giving Speed Climbing its own medal, and bouldering and lead climbing will be combined.
It’s a bit unfair at the moment if you’re a specialist in Speed Climbing.

A beautiful choir singing the Japanese national anthem at the start of the closing ceremony, and 7's bogan commentator (I think it was Griggs) talks all over it, ffs.

Up to the handover segment to France and Thomas Pesquet is playing La Marseillaise on the saxophone with Japan in the window from the fucking International Space Station and the bogan 7 commentators still talk over it.

The CGI for that flag though... apparently the weather conditions didn't allow them to fly it for real but really they could have done a better job than that

yes the flag off the tower looked weird/funny BUT this is covid times - seen alot of weird shit nowadays haven't we. Got to say, maybe its been due to lockdown ? well yes no for I've always enjpoyed following the olympics but I guess in these global challenging times maybe it meant more. Got to hand it to the Japs even though a % of the locals weren't impressed and I get it BUT really you can see its been a kind of therapy for many around the world. Kudos to all the athletes - training not like they expected pre covid. We all look at our medal tally and those above But I looked right through to the bottom with a bronze only. All of those countries making up the bottom half must be rapted just for 1medal let alone those in double digits. USA would have been happy toppling China, just. How was the arrogance shown once again by their BB winning team, sad people. Did I recall watching a marathon looking easier as I did yesterday ? unbelieveable, it wasn't just the humidity knocking off contenders it was his pace blowing them off. He looked so composed from start to finish, unreal what a Champion. Giggles on the 2nd Somalian stirring on his fellow contryman to 3rd. That was epic to watch and the ecstacy of the 3 of them at the finish is what its all about.

On the balance of things I also enjoyed the Olympics. I think things being 1 hour behind helped immensely as there was no waiting up til ridiculous hours to watch anything. And Also despite my previous criticisms, having the app was awesome as you could watch what you wanted instead of a forced select few sports we are used to seeing in the days of FTA. I dont think we have been this spoiled for choice during an Olympics
The only disappointment is, as mentioned, the lack of full replays. Channel 7 really should have dedicated a few resources to spitting them out as the events occurred. Now the Olympics are over and they seem to only have a back-catalog of about 10%
Take the Volleyball for instance. If you wanted to watch a game it meant 2 1/2 hours of missing something else. Now would be a perfect time to go through a back catalog of dozens of games especially since they are leaving their Olympics replays there for 4 months. Instead there are only 5 or 6 games for mens and womens
There was so much I missed due to overlapping events and there is no way to watch them unless Australia participated or there was a medal. A real lost opportunity and a downer on what otherwise was a thoroughly enjoyable experience

yes Thanks for starting up the thread MCG. Archery, olympic inspired be careful lol..... bb2, yes the time diff really helped us thats sure and bonus. IF it was in EU or USA I would have watched more replays compared to seeing so much "live" that makes for great viewing. Forgetting the Ch7 hurdles jumping one station to another how it goes But I do hear you missing seeing other sports that would have been great to see. Broadcasters set up programming what suits the Nation as expected.
