+xIf only we knew what Lucy knows. I'm glad that the national team has rid itself of Stajcic and his horrible toxicity. The Matilda's result and unprecedented success have unequivocally proven that his antiquated and horrible methods have no place in modern football. My heart goes our to the CCM supporters who now have to deal with the terrible environment that Stajcic creates in his football teams. If only CCM had listened to Lucy and her pals.

One thing is certain.Since Stajcic left the Matildas have gone backwards. The question is are how are the feelings of players now? Do FA still do psych tests on players to determine if the Manager can coach?

Do FA still do psych tests on players to determine if the Manager can coach? If you take the big picture of what is happening in society, there will be no remorse. They still feel they did the right thing. I cannot say that my fervour of support for the Matildas has returned since the Stajcic days. The phrase "Lest We Forget".

There are still so many unanswered questions. The reality is we may never know all the details behind the sacking but one thing is for certain, no one behind Stajcic’s demise will apologise or ever reach a moment of self-reflection that leads them to conclude they got it wrong.

The question is are how are the feelings of players now? Do FA still do psych tests on players to determine if the Manager can coach? They started to look a bit shaky in the second half of 2018.

Anyone else out there reminisce of the time when the Matildas were a growing world force under Stajcic? I guess the Matildas loss is the Central Coast Mariners gain. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/soccer/matildas-fall-to-third-straight-loss-heading-into-tokyo-olympics-20210611-p58042.html

The Matildas are a #&¥§! Mess.Clearly since Stajcic left they are a shadow of their former selves.Dare we say what is required to sort this out before its too late. Australia is used to playing better as a team than the some of its parts. For the Matildas we are the opposite…..Clearly a culture problem within the team.

Hello Zelic, Reid, Rushton, Holmes & Heyman you collective of human garbage. Australian football will never forget & the Matildas have been on a steady downward slope ever since. https://www.espn.com.au/football/story/4479912/heartbroken-lisa-de-vanna-walks-away-from-footballDe Vanna, however, bristles when the subject is broached. "He was hard-done by," De Vanna says. "That man changed women's football in Australia. He got us to top four in the world. We became a household name because of him and we became one of the fiercest teams in the world because of him. He brought us a lot of success and that was purely because he had so much belief in us as players. "Hand on my heart, if Staj had stayed we would have come close to winning the 2019 World Cup. "Who sacks a coach five months out from a World Cup? Then gets a coach that has no experience in the women's game? "The World Cup is played every four years for a reason because it takes four years to prepare and build for this."

I hope this thread never dies. The only thing that will change my mind is if we win the WC in 2023.

Great article by the way. Feel sorry for her. Surely they could have capped her one more time to equal most caps for Australia. Gypped.

+xGive her a testimonial game for sure If she's not training and out of match fitness at least bring her out pre-match or something before the 2 games against Brazil they're having here. Shithouse the way she has been discarded.

She's 36 and hasn't been in the national team for 2 years, situation was kind of written on the wall, if she struggles to read it, someone has to tell her.

Because she supported Stajic & probably spoke out about it. Football politics works like that, you just get marginalised & dropped from the team. That's the point here.

They have in some respect under-performed They have in every respect gone backwards since Stajcic was tossed out, hope that positive work culture is worth it...

The issue is De Vanna knows what she is talking about, most of the idiots at the FA are more interested in PC garbage and a positive work culture. It isnt just in football but the PC cancer is spreading across Australia, thus is why our country is going backwards

Her support of stadjic probably got her kicked out, but did she really expect at 36, a WC 2 years off, and with Australia showing an oversupply of young midfield talent, she was going to get a credible look in? Looking at it from Tony's position, the only option is to cut her, it's no longer about politics (like when we were in 4th, and she was robbed), it's about football.

In the article she says she didn't perform well enough to be selected. She's just pissed about how she was treated at the end of her career.

Then there you go, she even admitted she wasn't in the nod 2 years ago. Alot of players are shitty because they can't read the writing on the wall at the end of their career, maybe it had to have it spelt to her a little easier, doesn't change the situation.

Anecdotally this has been happening at clubland too, at ALL levels..... Looks like DeVanna is about to spill some very hard truths, not suprised but not a huge fan of her doing it now that she is out of the 'system' so to speak.

No mate its just the Aleague(s)? that are about to start their season. The 99% of football seasons in Australia start again in Feb-April next year depending on the state.
