+x+x+x+x+xHasn't retired. Gone to Preston +x+xHasn't retired. Gone to Preston Thanks I didnt know that... Good get for Preston, Marcus has a good couple of season left in him and hopefully will help them end their NPL journey by getting promotion to NPL1 (and then not needing it just to cause FA VIC scheduling headaches) Do you have any info on where Lirim, Pat and Ben Djiba went? He went to Essedon not Preston. Don't know why South made it out like he was retiring when he was just dropping down the tiers lol I assume Essedon have some money behind them? TBF it was more my perception that he was retiring.. South statement just said Marcus was leaving the club.... my bad. I think Mickey P was coaching there a while ago, Not sure what the relationship is like these days but down in NPL 3 its IS a step down.... Nah wasn't just you, South statement said he was "retiring from the top tier" that was souths statement on norton, who is going to essendon as they're his former junior club. the statement on marcus just said he was leaving the club. my understanding is he's heading to preston unless somthing changed and hes off to essendon aswell. Any word on Sulejmani, Mustapha and Ninkovic... those seem to be the only ones Im uncertain of?

Early start to the season next year :) Get around the OG Melbourne Derby --- could either be a taste of what the NST will look like or (if Knights arent in by then) the last time we play the old foes at home for a while.... Either way 2 months to go till the football starts again.......

+x+x+x+xDjiba oakleigh pat usa lirim Dandenong thunder Where did Pat go? What's usa lol He was born in the US so not surprising... A handy little AM when on song, will be missed. Ohhh right, thought it was meant to be some acronym for a cro club or something lmao Well he has played a few games in the Aleague so a move to the Croatian 4th division would be a step up :)

+x+xNZ NPL equivalent? Why are they playing their GF so late in the year? Dont know much about either club mate but thanks anyway? It's the equivalent of the old NPL Finals series featuring the top teams from the 3 major regional leagues (4 from Northern, 3 from Central + Phoenix Reserves, 2 from South Island), except it's a round-robin rather than a knockout, so very late season end Wellington has a very strong Greek community and legend has it that all the Greek-owned fish and chip shops in Wellington pay a levy to support Olympic. I totally support a Trans-Tasman Greek Challenge. hahahahaha gold, this made me laugh out loud..... I think a trans-Tasman Greek Challenge would be absolutely amazing, great idea... We have the Hellenic cup over here in Victoria which is rumoured to now be looking to include clubs from all over Australia not just VIC. Would be absolutey awesome if we extended the invite to NZ clubs.....

+xMarcus Schroen announced retirement. Mate, you are an absolute champion player and person. Thank you so much for all you have brought to the club, will be sorely missed on the pitch but hope you keep coming to Lakeside to follow the mighty Hellas, place wont be the same without you and Brad next year.... https://twitter.com/smfc/status/1728637092690055368?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet In better news, Javi Lopez has, as expected, re-signed for the season.... Absolute monster between the sticks... Vamos Javi, te amamos hermano. Big clear out at Souf, weird that he retired, he's only young

+x+x+xIs there public transport to get to lakeside? Because parking will be a nightmare Anzac Train station (due to open in 2025) is a 10 min walk otherwise tram stop literally meters away from stadium. :) Class that Yeah the public transport links and close proximity to pubs and restaurants AND the city was the reason WU owners thought Lakeside wasn't a suitable stadium to play Aleague matches in ... had NOTHING to do with us not letting them.... HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH

+xWhile i am very jealous my team did not get in (did they even apply) i am very happy for South Melbourne and all the clubs that got in. I've said it before last year, but i think this is a step in the right direction. I'm praying they will eventually add promotion/relegation, would be nice to see clubs like South Melbourne in the A league. Next year South Melbourne is obviously going to be a club i hope we beat everytime we play, but the year after when they enter the second division, i think i might become a closet South fan haha. Im definitely keen to go to a Preston lions vs South Melbourne hellas game! I hope our last ever visit to Jack Edwards is a happy one ...... can't stand driving away from that place with another loss, its cursed I tell you. South v Preston at Lakeside will be a 7-10K turnout..... big prediction I know but it has been a loooooong time coming... The reverse at BT Connor may even be bigger (depending on their capacity)

+x+xPre-season started down at Lakeside yesterday with a few starting team players departing... Some interesting signings being announced over the next couple of weeks, stay tuned :) South Melbourne FC would like to confirm that Ben Djiba, Perry Lambropoulos, Josh Wallen, Lirim Elmazi, Patrick Langlois and Alun Webb have all departed the club ahead of the 2024 NPL Victoria Season. The club wishes to thank each player for their contribution to the club and wishes them all the best for their future endeavours. Where did Langlois go to? Not quite sure but a little dissapointed....
