Maybe Celtic need to get the Yokohama F Marinos sports science, physio and training staff on board because I don’t remember YFM dropping like flies

I cannae comment on what Yokahama's injuries were like, that said, Ange did make the recent comment that these types of injuries aren't anything new to him as he has gone through the same issues with all his previous clubs at the beginning. He then pointed out that most of the squad hasn't had a proper preseason, and that some had no preseason at all.

Yep, I heard those comments from Ange too. I still don’t recall it being this bad at his previous clubs so maybe he is putting a positive spin on it. Whatever, surely the Celtic sports science staff and physios are all over this now and working on this 24/7, reviewing strength and conditioning programs, training drills, diet etc. On the positive side, the gap is still only four points and with players like Kyogo, Jota, Forrest, Giakoumakis, Julien all set to return in the coming weeks, with maybe three new Japanese signings, then a strong challenge can be made at the back end of the season. It’s just a shame the squad has been so skinny since July because the players are clearly embracing the tactics and style of play.

Another positive for Celtic in recent weeks is the number of young lads getting game time in first team football. Scales, Moffat, Montgomery, and even Abada who is more of a regular, are still developing their games and being put under pressure in crunch matches is a great opportunity.

I personally am not convinced that Celtic have the squad depth to stay in touch with Rangers this season but they are certainly making a good fist of it. Winning 1-2 away on a long (by Scottish standards) midweek road trip, with a makeshift front three and a bunch of fairly inexperienced youngsters in the starting XI and on the bench, scoring the winner deep into injury time after having gone down to ten men around the 80 minute mark, shows lots of grit and determination.  Notwithstanding the long injury list and heavy schedule, the mood in the playing group would be quite high you’d imagine!

It would be but must be said we aren't playing well at the moment despite winning matches - just grinding out results largely thanks to moments of brilliance from rogic. Literally has earnt us 9 points off his own boot the last 3 games.

I would hardly call the way we have been playing as "grinding out results". We have been dominating nearly every match. It's just that when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net we've been utter shite.

If Celtic get Maeda and a couple more first teamers in January, and are within 4 points of Rangers by the end of January, I reckon they'll come home with a wet sail and win the league, plus both cups.

Call it what you want but last match we scored in 98th min to win (and btw we didnt dominate that game) and the game before although  dominating general play we had a nervy 1 nil win in the end... all the while with a threadbare squad missing key players - so overall i'd call that grinding out results! Anyways no rogic and we draw the last  2 games and possibly the 3rd last too whereby he broke the deadlock with that messi-esque goal

Agreed. That Hatate looks a real player too! Although he is not a LB as is being reported - right footed for a start. He's a natural CM in the Callum McGregor mould. Not so convinced about that Ideguchi think he is a bit lightweight for scotland and not enough technical quality on the ball to compensate.

You may well turn out to be right on Ideguchi but the fact he has previously failed in Europe might make him very hungry. Ange mentions in his book that he likes to sign players who have a point to prove, and he is still only 25.

A cup win is not the league, we all know this, but what a start for Ange! No trophies for Celtic last season, and Ange leads them to a cup and hasn’t been there even six months. No small achievement. I am concerned how far off the pace in the league Celtic still might be come the January break, especially with all the injuries still piling up (Turnbull has done his hammie), so the league may just be a stretch to far at Ange’s first attempt but Ange is doing himself no harm in earning an extension beyond one season. Fun times watching an Aussie coach doing well in Europe at a big club.

There seems to be a wee bit of a pattern forming at Celtic at the minute with quite a few players picking up soft‐tissue injuries. It seem both Kyogo & Ajeti could be out for a while with hamstring injuries.

Things aren't looking that good on the injury front.

And another to add to the list *shakes head*
At least Kyogo is back and avoided another injury.

Must say it’s strange to see a certain group who have routinely taken the piss out of a-league players going to Scotland or Scottish based players being picked for Socceroos now acting like the Scottish cup is the champions league 🤓

A rising tide lifts all the little boats :) Apparently 3.5 to 4k new followers being reported by the SMFC media peeps..... not bad.
Some of the comments showing solidarity for a fellow club founded by immigrants in a "foreign land" are sooooo gratifying.
I really hope it leads to a few of the local Celtic supporters in Melbourne coming down to Lakeside this coming season ... Eurosnobs Ole Ole........

These arent the same group of people who dont want pro/rel in Australia because there is no money in the game and we may not have a club playing out of Adelaide or Perth or whatever are they? :)

Yes, that is why Ange signed both Broich and Berisha for Brisbane. He knew their histories and saw their hunger. Absolute legends of the A League both of them. Hope Ideguchi is similarly successful in Scotland.

Wow, yes I agree that would be amazing...... I would be happy for Celtic to just tour down under and get one game in against South even if they play other "bigger" matches first.
We'd have to ask WU for permission to play at their home ground AAMI though as it would be pretty well attended I think :)
