+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xMcGree reportedly signed by Celtic for £3M. Great stuff. One more reason to follow Scotland's biggest club with a keen eye. The most important overseas club to australian football since the leeds early 2000's team. In the 02/03 season there were 7 Australian players on the books at leeds!! Plus the coach Terry Venebles was ex Socceroo manager. It seems you have one less Aussie at Sharkheid. Paradise > Crumbledome Yer patter is still pish. Go back to where you came from, jump in the river Cart twice and come up once. River Cart ???? Nice to see that racism is alive and well in the colonies. If you are from Renfrewshire you know the River Cart. I don't get the racist comment other than you somehow associated the Black Cart Water with my comment. In no way should that have been read that way although it is located where you lived. My local rivers were the Clyde and the Kelvin in Glasgow, no fuckin Renfrewshire. Who said i am from Renfrewshire anyway ? A couple of years ago you posted the primary school you attended. Unless there are two schools with the same name in the Greater Glasgow area it is in that borough. And here was I thinking that you lived in Ferguslie Park :-) I mistakenly thought that explained your demeanour.

Can you guys tell us a little more about the geography of Scotland? Sounds fascinating. What is the highest mountain? Deepest lake? And most importantly does Ange still by his gyros from McTassos at Glasgow's Fort?

"gyro, a Greek dish of roasted meat served in a pita, usually with tomato, onion, and tzatziki, a cold, creamy sauce made from yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and various spices. " and to rebut your sectarian bias "Examination of economic activity data showed that although unemployment rates were higher among Catholics than those affiliated with the Church of Scotland, they were in line with the Scottish average" So not "mainly handed out to Celtic fans"

There was no racist connotation in that. Ange has indicated that unless something extraordinary comes up there will be no more signings this window. I would have thought a couple of defenders were still necessary?

In case you are not aware, we don't really do LAKES in Scotland , but it is Loch Ness and the highest mountain is Ben Nevis, about the height of a speed hump in the Himalayas.

Solid 2-0 win for Celtic first game back after the winter break and while I have only seen the highlights, various media and FB fan sites saying two of the new signings, Maeda and Hatate, played well. Maeda scored and Hatate was the BBC man of the match. Celtic were lucky not to be 0-1 down early when a Hibs player missed at the back post with an open goal but other than that apparently were in control for the rest of the match. Having two of his new signings play well in their first outing is good for Ange’s reputation.

+xOut of interest what was the 1st to 2nd gap this time last year? 21 points . Tims had three games in hand though. They had 45 points from 21 games, 3 points fewer than this season despite losing less matches.

Celtic signed Matt O’Riley from League One MK Dons. Highlights remind me a bit of Rogic. Tall attacking midfielder with an impressive eye for a pass. A very handy acquisition to the squad, and having just played 90mins against Portsmouth on Sunday will be ready to go if needed. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him start in the weekend cup match to give Rogic a rest.

1-2 away win for Ange’s Celtic against Hearts. Good game, watched it on Kayo. Again, a bit of luck during the match, especially with Hearts missed penalty, but still, given they’ve had no luck with injuries it all evens out. Hatate’s goal was a screamer from 30 odd metres, people should go and find it. Absolutely drilled it with mongrel force. Just the second match for Hatate and first for O’Riley in midfield, with McGregor out and Rogic away on international duty, so a good result with a new midfield pairing. And Celtic showed a bit of resilience in the second half too once Heart came out fighting and leg chopping. Some positive signs.

It was a great first half but didn't expect it to go so bad in the second. Lucky to get the 3 points. It felt like they ran out of legs in the middle - couldn't keep the ball for long periods. I'm looking forward to the Rangers game. Hopefully a win to close the gap.

I'm looking forward to the Rangers game. Hopefully a win to close the gap. I listen to the “A Celtic State of Mind” podcast and they deconstructed the second half quite well. It’s true they ran out of legs, again, but in part that’s because they are once again integrating new players (Hatate and O’Riley) and have several returning from long term injury (Forrest, Jota and Giakoumakis), so that’s five players who can’t press for 90mins right now. Indeed, it’s possible this team won’t be able to press for 90 mins until next season. The Rangers game will be a cracker and I just hope it isn’t decided by more poor refereeing. The standard of refereeing in Scotland is awful, and the Scottish pundits say as much themselves, as it allows far too much butchery. Some even speculate it will keep some good ball players away, as they just wouldn’t want to risk career ending injury under dinosaur refereeing.
