+xWe all though Kyogo was the standout from Japan, but along with Maeda and Ideguchi well Reo Hatate could be the best of the lot. What a game he played, talk about an impact in the best game in Scotland! Outstanding game from him. And credit to Ange what a turn around but he knows that is a long way to go, they need to keep it going but he has the players now to play his style. Seriously who makes this Celtic midfield? Hatate but also O'Reilly was outstanding as well, especially with Rogic and Turnbull to come back in but the tension is good so they have got good options. McGree wanted more money than Hatate from memory yeah?

+xThis morning 9 Ange recruits started. Basically a whole new team in just 6 months, very impressive. This! In six months Ange has reconstructed what was an utter shambles of a squad, without his own backroom staff. And today’s result was without Rogic and Kyogo, two of their better performers this season. Credit to Ange on where he has got Celtic since the start of the season. There’s a long way to go still and Rangers recent signing of Ramsay may yet be critical and help them retain the league but you’d have to think Ange has done enough to get a contract extension - imagine what this side could be playing like next season with another signing window and a full pre-season with a fullyAnge-squad of players! For me, while Hatate is clearly class, I reckon by season’s end Matt O’Riley may well have matched him for contributions - can’t believe he has been playing in League One! Celtic also must get CCV and Jota signed permanently. I listen to a few different Scottish football podcasts, including Clyde One football, A Celtic State of Mind and The Celtic Cynic and there has been some acknowledgment that the small-minded and overly parochial response of Scottish fans and pundits upon Ange’s arrival, was way off, both the ignorance about Ange himself and the quality of Japanese football and players. I even remember some people on this thread were criticising Aussie football fans for talking Ange up on Celtic football pages and making out doing so was ignorant. Anyway, fun times. While the quality of our national team players has dropped markedly in the last ten to fifteen years, at least some of our coaches are giving me hope. Further, Ange could take Celtic deep into the Champions League in two seasons time, IF they stick with him - I reckon this must be in his calculations. Maybe it is in the Board’s calculations too? Ange will want more than just a Scottish league win, although winning the league is a necessary first step, if not this season then definitely next.

[/quote]Ange only signed a 1 year deal? seriously? If Celtic don't sign him now, he will be poached. In fact, I have no doubt he will going to the premier league soon. People know who he is now and Ange-ball was there for all the world to see yesterday morning.

Once all the players are fit and up to speed I wouldn't want to predict who gets picked to play alongside McGregor in the middle three. As for Jota and CCV, I believe Jota is close to being finalised, and things are still moving in the right direction with CCV, so hopefully they both get sorted out in the near future.

O'riley instead of McGee
That is looking like it could end up being the business of the year

+xO'riley instead of McGee That is looking like it could end up being the business of the year Absolutely. Even moreso if Denmark's interest in him see him committing and playing for the Danes. As much as I hate seeing players leave for NT duty during the season (due to the extra risks of injuries, quarantine, fatigue etc), and would rather not to have players leave for NT duty (for selfish reasons), I do realise that it does help with players value to an extent.

Surely we are going to rename this thread to 'Ange at Celtic' now? Here's to 50 more pages.

Been lucky enough to watch the last two games in full. Crazy high tempo modern football. Ripping the opposition apart and leaving defenders looking clueless. It doesn’t guarantee the title, however, especially noting the big win Rangers had overnight but still it’s fun to watch.

An inconsistent performance from Celtic this morning but still, a 2-3 away win at Pittodrie can’t be sniffed at. Callers in to the ACSOM podcast emphasised that last season this game would have been lost and three wins against Aberdeen this season is solid.
Lucky enough it was televised on Kayo, that’s the last three Celtic games shown live, which is awesome. It made me late for work again, like the mid-week game against Rangers last week.
Good performances from Jota and O’Riley and some good saves from Hart. Some poor set-piece defending for both Aberdeen goals. Hatate had a scrubby game. Ange will likely make a few changes for the weekend cup game. The team needs some fresh legs on this performance.

The Scots have a great football culture, which is passionate, parochial and full of crazies, very addictive stuff.

I agree with Harry. The football culture is amazing.
I wish we had that sort of thing here but all but 10-12 clubs (whatever the number is in the A-league) have a ceiling placed over their heads.

Business done, and into the Quarter-Finals draw after the 4-0 win over the lads from the Kingdom. I do have to give credit to the Raith players, as they played well. Especially when considering the shite the board put them in with the whole Goodwillie farce. So credit due.

Especially when considering the shite the board put them in with the whole Goodwillie farce. So credit due. Just watched the replay and agree Raith played well. Celtic had a very ordinary first half and Ange could be heard ripping them from the sidelines, it’s gold. Just after their first goal too. Hart was barking at them to play more quickly too. I like this level of intensity that Ange and the senior players expect, every match, noting getting the execution right won’t always happen. One senior player to disappoint was Rogic, whose first touch was strangely off and he looked a little bit disinterested. Scales the best of those who started and he is better going forward than Taylor, although Taylor is the better of the two defensively. Jota changed the match when he came on early in the second match, he just oozes class. The tall French defender Jullien got his first minutes in 20 months after his knee injury and the standing ovation from the crowd was touching. He is a bit gangly and awkward looking to me but I’ll hold judgement for now. Job done against inferior opposition and CalMac and O’Riley got a rest. I expect both will start against the Norwegians on Thursday night.

South going with a green goalie kit has certainly doing wonders for our merch sales this year :) Ange going to Celtic is singlehandedly dragging Hellas into the hearts and minds of Irish and Scottish football fans..... Hope a bucketload of them jump on the NPL stream on Thursday... Bravo Angie, your the best. https://twitter.com/smfc/status/1493114487628767235?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
