+x+x+xUghh That first bloke is so typical of these sort of rallies and of protests. I feel like I've seen him a hundred times. Minor variations to his appearance, yet always middle aged, deranged and aggressive. basically Trumpkins and Alex Jones fans unemployed white boomer males that's your antivaxxer demographic Jacinda Ardern said it best, these aren't genuine normal protests, this is an international Trumpist thing and its dangerous, peoples democratic right to protest because you dont agree with their message. I agree. The anti vaxxers should be allowed to protest as much as they like. Not only is it great entertainment but there is no better advertisement for how utterly moronic and wrong they are then seeing them incoherently rant.

Yep no issue with them protesting provided they're not breaking the law.

I highly suspect nobody here, who isn't a troll account, has a problem with people's right to protest.

Yep no issue with them protesting provided they're not breaking the law. but they are breaking the law when they're trespassing and blocking traffic they're also breaking the law when they're violating Covid restrictions its not a real protest anyway, its a Trumpkin convention we never have any problems with climate emergency or midsumma protests because they're done in an orderly manner in cooperation with local government authorities... why is it so hard to understand?

'If you don’t have a right to protest being locked in your home, robbed of employment, separated from your family, forbidden from travelling overseas, barred from returning to Australia and forced to take a vaccine to keep your job, then what does constitute a just cause?' https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/deplorables-no-these-convoy-protesters-should-not-be-ignored-20220215-p59wgt.htmlExcellent article by lefty tosser Chris Uhlmann.

no one was robbed of anything
we're in a one in one hundred year pandemic and our COVID response was the envy of the world recently when Scotty from marketing and Dumb Parrot decided to let her rip,

Thats the double edged blue sword period. Can't win either way. As for pollies here or anywhere have we seen any real leading light through this whole covid debacle ? don't think so. We sure have seen many fall on their bummbling words and lack of good actions. No excuse but most have been on L plates at the beginning of all this, pity they haven't corrected their ways instead of playing political recovery gains. Scotty from marketing, I do love this for him got to say. I'm just sorry we are gonna go through a similar cycle falling to Rudd next friggin Albo. Its not gonna be any better in the large picture, a different front cover being red and even more embarrassing looking ahead.

I read that article at the time and agree with Mr Sidoti. Yes, both State and Federal Governments are responsible. So why blame a party?

lets not forget that Covid came into Australia because of the LNP's failure to quarantine arrivals through Sydney then it spread to other states from the rogue removalists

Good article this one.
The hysterical headlines have receded. Hospitalisations and intensive care numbers are less than half of what they were, having never reached predicted thresholds. QR check-ins are being abolished because nobody has been monitoring them for months. Mass testing of healthy children is set to follow because it is so obviously pointless a third of parents aren’t even doing it.”

an opinion piece from far right pundit Hildebrand isn't a reflection of reality covid is real and many people on this forum have had it and luckily survived thanks to the availability of the vaccine

the cookers are back in Canberra, but their numbers have diminished
ignoring them seems to be the best strategy... cookers never had much staying power

The covid death rate for a relatively youngish person is about 1 in 10,000. Probably a lot lower with this new variant. Yould have to be terribly unlucky to be a relatively youngish person and die from this disease. Clearly there are people that are vulnerable to this disease, that carry multiple comorbidities and have probably just have their lives extended a little bit by all the draconian measures like lockdowns and vax mandates which have destroyed lives and careers. When all is said and done the cure was probably worse than the illness, which is what happens when people think the bureaucratic apparatus can defeat pandemics.

Pulling back of most of the restrictions is appropriate. We're past the peak of the wave now and we'll need them again when the next variant comes along. In the meantime, most people are going to look after themselves as best as they see appropriate and when we're in this sort of phase that's fine.

Watching paulc and rusty use multi accounts to argue with each other is similar to getting two Siri's to have a conversation.

Professor Sutton said many children had made mask-wearing part of their routine and were "doing it without blinking" and he struggled to understand the harms "people seem to project" onto children wearing masks https://time.com/6145291/end-mandatory-masks-schools/However, masking kids is not a damage free intervention. It negatively affects learning and causes significant social and emotional harm. Masking impairs verbal and non-verbal communication between teachers and students, limits facial identification and has occasional physical side effects. Visualization of the entire face is of crucial importance to social, emotional, and speech development. My first grader has had to learn to read and make friends without ever seeing his teacher’s mouth or other students’ faces. Our children long for their former lives back, and they need to see the expressions and reactions on the faces of their peers and teachers. This nonverbal feedback is how they often weigh their actions and behavior against those around them, developing social and emotional intelligence and interrelatedness that is crucial to their educational development No wonder response teams are scratching their heads wondering why so many kids are falling behind or reporting mental health issues. But then again, these are the same people who think public transport constitutes the same level of high risk as aged care facilities and hospitals And "experts" are already predicting these B Grade restrictions will be back in time for winter Its time for these pointless B Grade restrictions to go entirely. No sane person can argue the pay off is worth it outside of a hospital system or aged care facility
