Then we got talking about EVs and I said they're good because we won't be reliant on the middle east and we can start to become energy independent. And then to try and sweeten the deal I said we have heaps of rare earths, we could value add from here rather then send them over to be processed. Maybe build a big fuck off battery manufacturing plant. Maybe even build cars in those old car plants that are just sitting there. This is a great opportunity not a cost etc etc .  Tried to appeal to their 'bring back manufacturing' neoconservative sides which I thought that might help them see sense.
