+x+x+x+x+x+xGiven that the Saudi match now means nothing, is it time to shoot Arnold right now, even if we just need to use Muelensteen and Vidmar next game. Get him out, I think he is hopeless and nothing will change for the better with him in charge any longer. And get who? Who is coming in for 2 matches? We'd have to sign them up for a full world cup cycle and the FA couldn't afford them on a 4 year contract. Just remember Arnie is paid very handsomely. I'm sure there is a lot of quality out there who would come at a similar price. Marcelo. Please Johnson do it now As a Leeds supporter and total Bielsa fan, I do not think he is the man for the Socceroos. His approach is all about ‘the system’ and players being extraordinarily fit … to outrun the opposition. He also depends on individuals being superior to their opponents. Bielsa’s system is very exposed if players aren’t good enough to beat their opponents one on one … as Leeds experienced once our top players were injured. There is no way he could get players fit enough, nor lift their skill levels sufficiently to play his brand of football in the occasional camp. Like Ange, Bielsa is a better club coach (unless he has a highly skilled and very fit national squad to select from). So Roar are you seriously saying the “ greatness” of Tilio and Fornaroli plus J Mac would have better served the team than Hrustic? What are you on? CanI get some? Difficult to believe those comments Which alt are you? I have seen those very same mocking comments against me before on this forum. I was not saying that they are great players - but that the greatness they have about them is the use of their skills when they are tightly marked. I did not call JMac or Fornaroli great at all in fact and specifically said they were pointless in the game sense tonight. Hrustic did so many bad things that to me they outweighed the good things he did. You can't continue to give up the ball as often as he did then point at the good moments. JMac was not the answer. Fornaroli was not the answer. Tilio and Folami were the two I mentioned with the word greatness and they both have that in them when they are given the chance. Neither of them would have filled Hrustic's role either. You did not bother to read my post properly and you seem more interested in mocking me than actually discussing my points - so you are someone who has a historic dislike of me and want to play it under another name? Hames Jetfield maybe? Anyway - if you want to discuss anything I have actually said, I value your opinion and welcome the traffic on this forum.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Leeds' players are bog average however he got the best out of them. Then it begun to catch up with him toward the end of his reign. I think he would suit us. He likes to work with what he has got and builds around that. Historically Australia relies on its physical prowess so hopefully he could harness that. At least more than most national teams. Get it done. He could revolutionise the game here ala what Hiddink and Postecoglou have done. I'm not a fan of these floored geniuses. There's too much a gap between their best and their worst. Also arrogant and too likely to spit he dummy. We need someone who can work with what he has to get results. In our case that means not having much to work with at all. To get the result. Bielsa is a "put it all on black kind" of manager.

From 2005 from the highs within the same stadium, to the lows from tonight.
It just shows us how the mighty has truly fallen. an incredibility sad evening for Australian football tonight.
Where to from here I dont know, but ive lost all my energy for the Australian game tonight...
Ill put more of my thoughts about it tomorrow or later.

It was sold by the APL. How does that help FA pay big dollars for a coach

+x+xI remember a do or die game against Iraq for world cup 14 and against Thailand for 2018 we were so desperate. It was an Opposite this time under arnie for the home games against the Saudis and Japan we just sat back with no sight of urgency even in the last 10 minutes. Couldn't believe my eyes ...what got to lose ??..draw means nothing anyway Completely agree. This side has no spirit. No heart. No fight. No aggression. No passion. I reckon its a generational thing.

and to think this Japanese team is being managed by one of their most unpopular choices in recent years… refusing to call up Ritsu Doan (PSV), Daichi Kamada (Frankfurt), Hiroki Ito (Stuttgart), Masaya Okugawa (Bielefeld), Yukinari Sugawara (AZ Alkmaar)… Reo Hatate and Takefusa Kubo sitting on the bench.
Takahiro Tomiyasu (Arsenal), Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi injured…

+xJapan 58 professional teams. Australia 11. #nixout There's your problem in a nutshell. Plus we play for 6 months of the year, whilst they play year round. How else could anyone think we could compete with these countries otherwise? Its just madness with what we are doing here.

Some people said we lost to a better side. Yup but how we lost is frustrating. When U watch epl even a small side U will see the coach would give the signal to the players to push forward I noticed Arnie didn't do shit even in the last 10 minutes. Arnie wanted us to sit back park the bus and wait for the mistake which never came. At least gave the fans the entertaining game and if we lose it with an honour.
When we played Japan at home under Ange, Japan was on top of us for most parts but when came the last 10 minutes we got better and better at least the players playing with fighting spirit. I don't care if we lost but how we lost tonight especially at home Infront of their families and friends.

Most of what I wanted to say has already been said, so I'll leave that. What I will say is this has been coming from a long way out- since 2018 at the earliest when it took a glancing deflection against Syria and 40 y/o Tim Cahill to drag the Socceroos the long way around just to qualify for Russia. Things have only deteriorated further since then and none of the "golden generation" remain to get it done for us on muscle memory. M.O.M tonight for the Socceroos would have to be either Matty Ryan or the goalpost. Could easily have been 4 or 5-0 to Japan. That's the gulf in difference between the nations right now when it comes to players, coaching, organisation etc. Would rather fail to qualify and build our NT (and the game in this country) up properly than scrape in for another WC just to be also-rans and pat ourselves on the back collectively because "at least we had a go". If there was a WC to miss, glad it's Qatar. That entire bid and WC can fuck off.
There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

China Saudi ends 1:1. Oman keep it perfect with a 1:0 away with in Vietnam. You'll look at this in years and think Vietnam made a good account of themselves at home which they generally did.

Oman will finish 1 point behind us after time wasting playing for a draw when level with us in Oman. Remember when scores were level near the end they played for a draw at home. If they went for a win and got it they would finish in the last playoff spot above Australia.

Arnie's mate Grant a gap filler player at best, slow buildup predictable tactics with Hrustic and the like getting swarmed often, Ryan mistake for second goal. Lucky to stay in the game so long would have been more talk of sacking if Japan had its shooting boots on.

+x+xTara is not happy with these fuckwits. Look at those red faced morons Good. Time for some serious questions to be answered. Not just off Arnold. How about we question how he ever ended up there? That that was our best option? How about we ask the question of the fact that he has the worst cattle to work with of any Socceroos manager in decades? And how about all this after a Frank Lowy-led revolution that included massive restructures that have yielded very little? How about the fact that some of the clubs in this country producing our best players within their own youth systems don’t even play top flight football? Or aren’t in a system in which they can work their way to the top? Harper is going on about investment. It’s not investment!! It’s the fucking structures that are the problem, and the attitudes of people within the system. Our A-League clubs are only just beginning to bring strong players through now, so things will improve. But we need dozens and dozens of clubs doing this. Not just our top 12 (realistically 5 or 6 of our “top 12”). Clubs like South Melbourne FC have produced dozens of players that have had world class careers in playing and coaching. Absolutely world class comment Tom. I agree 100% Hopefully this match was the final nail in the coffin of Frank Lowys attempt at destroying the game of football in Australia forever.....
