+x+x+x+x+x+xTara is not happy with these fuckwits. Look at those red faced morons Good. Time for some serious questions to be answered. Not just off Arnold. How about we question how he ever ended up there? That that was our best option? How about we ask the question of the fact that he has the worst cattle to work with of any Socceroos manager in decades? And how about all this after a Frank Lowy-led revolution that included massive restructures that have yielded very little? How about the fact that some of the clubs in this country producing our best players within their own youth systems don’t even play top flight football? Or aren’t in a system in which they can work their way to the top? Harper is going on about investment. It’s not investment!! It’s the fucking structures that are the problem, and the attitudes of people within the system. Our A-League clubs are only just beginning to bring strong players through now, so things will improve. But we need dozens and dozens of clubs doing this. Not just our top 12 (realistically 5 or 6 of our “top 12”). Clubs like South Melbourne FC have produced dozens of players that have had world class careers in playing and coaching. Absolutely world class comment Tom. I agree 100% Hopefully this match was the final nail in the coffin of Frank Lowys attempt at destroying the game of football in Australia forever..... 1975-2004. NSL?whatever else it was called: WC's played: ZERO. Attendances: a bit above zero. Revenue: cevapi and souva's. Media interest: SBS (2% station rating, 0.02% football) 2005-2018: LOWY era. 4 World Cups. Asian Champions. Asian Champions League Champions. Confed Cup. Attendances: Peak at 60,000 for regular season game. 50,000 for grand finals. 14,000k average. Revenue circa $1 billion. Ratings: in 100,000's What did the Lowy's ever do for us? the important thing is you got those bums on seats for the last 15 years lol. now we are seeing the effect of the HAL, lack of youth development and the broken footballing pyramid in australia. You lot would have a chip on your shoulder no matter the situation - perpetual whingers

+x+xyou just couldnt help yourself could ya, only took you a few posts to deflect the issue on hand. do you wank over those images? deflect from what? That you're a complete stain on the game and you have nothing to contribute but the same hypocritical bullshit? Enjoy dancing on the grave if it makes you happier. touched a nerve i see. all i did was point out the obvious state of our game, the broken system, and how Volpato has every right to feel the way he does about australian football. i guess i will just blame all the 'nazis' for this new failure.

What happened under Lowy was not all bad that's for sure. BUT. Instead of introducing more teams and a second division and a pathway to a full pyramid when we were flying (circa 2012) they doubled down on their closed shop system. So the equation now is that we beat either Iraq or UAE and then either Peru or Colombia. Looking at the final fixtures, I'd probably predict Iraq and Peru, but a little hard to predict.

As a Peruvian born, beating Paraguay at home is a non-negotiable, and it will suck once again drawing Australia (if the Socceross can get past Iraq or the UAE) - it was bad enough at the last world cup being in the same group :-)

+x+xyes Enzo good points and that all they are....we're all still in the lowest of lows re NT them's the facts. The post 2005 qualified WC's were on the backs of the GG don't forget, what would it have been if not for them. What IF Cahill didn't kick on longer than CR7. We also hit lowest of lows through Ange's NT tenure. (AC was the high) $1B - the fairy godfather and look where we are. Nothing like judging a book by its cover. It was tuff being there, I agree with many posts some not - don't we all. We just don't have the cattle, that first 30seconds pretty much showed what was coming and we all knew in anycase. They are too quick, to sharp, purposeful, skilful, organsied. Should have been 3 @ HT. No matter who coachs all I see is a poison chalice till we have players that are capable and a good core in top flight comps. All this stems down to our systems/comps/and unity < that is all pretty average in this present day who were competing against at NT levels. The problem I have with saying that the GG was NSL-developed and therefore Lowy rode on their coat tails is that the 2002 generation was also NSL, as was the 1998, as was the 1994 and so on. None made it to the WC. Was the WC route tougher back then? Yes because it was H and A do or die. But 2006 was just as tough. In 2006 Lowy sacked Farina and appointed Guus. The win to qualify to the WC then allowed us to join Asia, and we went a different route. This gave us 3 more qualifications. None of that happens without Lowy. And I won't even get started on the high's of the A_league over the NSL. don't bother starting Enzo, your on the other end of the spectrum and yet here we are........ The game in absolute poop yet you keep following the front cover to this day. Pre 02 give it a break, amatuers/part timers had buckleys chance qualifying. A good % of the GG broke into Euro top flight football the pioneer Johnstone, prior none your mention is moot.. As for the rest of your post, no rocket science sacking a failing coach to qualify, $$$$$$ were at stake go figure. Again the rest of the qualis were on the last of the GG more so Cahill's clutch winners. None of it happens without the players ! there are plenty of Lowys in football but players maketh the Mountain.

+xSo the equation now is that we beat either Iraq or UAE and then either Peru or Colombia. Looking at the final fixtures, I'd probably predict Iraq and Peru, but a little hard to predict. Yeah, I think it will be Iraq but I guess a lot will depend on S.Korea's attitude.

He also ruined our player development structures to the point where we calling up players that a) never been to a shores before and b) whom are 34 from other countries Look where its taken us eh? What happened under Lowy was not all bad that's for sure. BUT . Instead of introducing more teams and a second division and a pathway to a full pyramid when we were flying (circa 2012) they doubled down on their closed shop system. Remember 'fishing where the fish are'? Six year after the inception of the A-League, right? Would have killed the A-League by fracturing the fan base, issues with broadcast and owner licensing.

I'm not considering S America at this stage because, the way we are going, I think we are far from certain to beat either Iraq or UAE.

None of it happens without the players ! there are plenty of Lowys in football but players maketh the Mountain. Sorry mate you couldn't be more wrong. The players were even better IMO in 1998 and 2002. Yet failed to qualify. Its easy to sack the coach but takes balls and money to get Guus, who coach South Korea to 4th place in 2002. Further there are no other Lowy's in Australian football. Who can you name in football that call up the PM on the phone and ask for a favour? Also EPL would not be the richest and most watched league in the world without its version of the "Lowy's". You might be traditionalist and say the game had more soul, back in the day but without their "Lowys", the EPL would have a handful of foreigners running around. Klopp, Guardiola, et al in Division 1- i'd like to see that. Don't get me started on the players, the best were going to Italy and La Liga.

So where are the Lowys now exactly? They were ousted to allow more competent football people to run the game. The results have been remarkable.
